Milk in before or after teabag

CharliesAngels81 · 13/12/2024 19:33

Please settle a debate in this household

Milk in before teabag taken out or milk in last?

Whose unreasonable here - I believe milk in before teabag

Milk last. Of course.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 13/12/2024 19:35

Milk first for me. It tastes weird if you add the milk last. Milk after for all the others I live with.

It's because I was fancy in a past life. Milk needed to be first so the boiling water didn't crack the china.

Maverickess · 13/12/2024 19:35

Milk last...... Anything else is just wrong

MoonWoman69 · 13/12/2024 19:35

Milk after is definitely the way in this household! Let the tea brew, remove the bag, add the milk! You wouldn't add the milk to a teapot, so why in a mug?!
Strange subject to ponder on a Friday night!

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 13/12/2024 19:35

No, no, no. You are doing it wrong. You want me to tell you why?

LindorDoubleChoc · 13/12/2024 19:36

Milk always in after. Anything else is just working class.

Youhaveyourhandsfull · 13/12/2024 19:36

Why would you even put the milk in first? If you use a teapot, that's ok. But you're not.
The tea needs boiling water to brew. Milk cools the water and stops it brewing properly. So just do things correctly and move on.

GauntJudy · 13/12/2024 19:36

Teabag in
Water in
Stir
Wait
Milk in
Teabag out

Eenameenadeeka · 13/12/2024 19:36

Milk goes last.

TotallyTwisted · 13/12/2024 19:36

Obviously you put the milk in after you take the teabag out.

Aww I was gonna say that.

Fireworknight · 13/12/2024 19:37

Varies. Sometimes I put milk and teabag and pour on water. Other times I add the milk afterwards.

Yirk · 13/12/2024 19:37

Milk first always.

Floralnomad · 13/12/2024 19:43

Use a teapot , tea tastes much better .

SaagAloopa · 13/12/2024 19:44

If you put the milk in first the teabag doesn't get hot enough

itsmylife7 · 13/12/2024 19:45

milk in before t bag it's the only way.

You put milk first in bone china when using tea brewed in a pot - not a teabag!

FOJN · 13/12/2024 19:47

Depends on whether I'm brewing in a cup or a pot.

In a pot the milk goes in the cup first.

In a mug I add the milk just before I remove the teabag just to be sure the tea is strong enough before taking the teabag out.

Vettrianofan · 13/12/2024 19:48

After you remove teabag...or better still just make a regular pot of tea then add milk!

UndeniablyGenX · 13/12/2024 19:50

No milk. Milk ruins a good cup of tea.

5foot5 · 13/12/2024 19:51

Milk not at all.

Tea is much better just as it comes - no milk, no sugar.

Coffee with or without milk is still coffee. But milk in tea changes the character of the drink completely, and not for the better.

Rhaidimiddim · 13/12/2024 19:52

The teabag needs to exude its flavouring from within the bag.

An element of milk is fat.

Fat clogs the teabag "pores" and prevents the flavouring from escaping the bag.

5foot5 · 13/12/2024 19:52

@UndeniablyGenX x-post !

I'm as common as muck and the milk goes in last.

Same. I don't really think about it.
