Will we get sick?

Baked a cake. Eggs had been in the fridge previous. Since found out that the eggs I used had actually been sat out on the kitchen side from 11am-6pm when I used them for the cake. Will we get sick??!

No. Eggs don't need to be refrigerated

WispasAreNicerThanFlakes · 07/12/2024 19:40

No you won’t get sick. In fact it would have helped your cake as you’re supposed to use eggs at room temperature!

AlbertCamusflage · 07/12/2024 19:40

No. Sounds fine.

Bluelightfairy · 07/12/2024 19:40

No. Eggs aren't kept in the fridge at the supermarket. They don't need to be in the fridge at home.

SecretToryVoter · 07/12/2024 19:40

No

eggs aren’t kept in the fridge in the supermarket at all

Notateacheranymore · 07/12/2024 19:41

If you live in the UK, have you never noticed that eggs are not typically refrigerated? You’ll be fine.

rubyslippers · 07/12/2024 19:41

eggs don’t need to be refrigerated
When you buy them at the supermarket they’re on shelves / ambient temperature

Pink977 · 07/12/2024 19:41

I’m worried about the temperature change from them being in the fridge to then being at room temp and used

OP posts:
Prisonpillow · 07/12/2024 19:41

Of course not. You get egg holders
to keep eggs on outside the fridge.

SocksAndTheCity · 07/12/2024 19:41

No. The eggs shouldn't have been in the fridge, but a brief stint in there won't make them harmful.

User364837 · 07/12/2024 19:41

What are you on about? Do you do your own shopping? Do you get them out of the fridge a the supermarket?

Julia34 · 07/12/2024 19:42

No you be alll ok. I rarely put eggs in fridge and never get sick

MereDintofPandiculation · 07/12/2024 19:42

Of course not!

You don’t need to store eggs in the fridge.

You’re worrying over nothing

Pinkelephant66 · 07/12/2024 19:43

whaaaat? 😂 of course they’re fine

Hurdlin · 07/12/2024 19:44

Eggs should never be kept in the fridge.

You then baked the cake in a hot oven.

Absolutely fine.

And you’re not worried about the even larger temperature change when you cook them?

This made me laugh!

Me too!

OP, it's better to use eggs at room temperature for baking

ChocHotolate · 07/12/2024 19:51

Eggs are kept on the open shelf in the supermarket

Orangelight23 · 07/12/2024 19:52

Yes you're going to be violently ill. Cold to room temperature and then to 180 degrees in the oven. Food poisoning is a certainty with these temperature changes.

teatoast8 · 07/12/2024 19:55

No eggs don't belong in the fridge

I never put my eggs in the fridge.

Hayley1256 · 07/12/2024 20:11

Most receipes tell to let eggs get to room temp before baking with them. I never keep mine in the fridge
