AIBU to tell SIL to get fucked?

SIL asked what we were up to this weekend. I said, as another storm is on the way, we were going to have some mulled wine and a cheeseboard while watching Christmas films. She then did cat's bum face and said she thought it was so gross that people do nothing but stuff their faces with unhealthy food in the run up to Christmas. She said this, by the way, in front of her teenage daughter who has struggled badly with body image issues. I said, lightly, that I'm very sleep deprived due to my velcro 5 month old and, as last Christmas (and for the whole 9 months of my pregnancy) I had hyperemesis gravidarum and was too queasy to enjoy any nice food, this Christmas I fully intend to eat all the cheese and all the chocolate. She rolled her eyes at me and said "whatever makes you feel better about yourself".

I said nothing but I wanted to tell her to fuck off tbh. AIBU?

I would have bitten at this year's ago but you have got to pity her OP, what a sad existence she must have to even comment on that! I would have made light of it and echo what someone else has said about aren't you a bundle of laughs kind of comment as quite frankly she is making herself look like a right tit herself!

I could do without her in my life. However, grin and bear it. Just be glad you are not her, probably embarrassed, daughter.

Just to say I'm not a SIL hater, I have two other brothers, both also married, and I have lovely relationships with those SILs.

I have always found this one hard work but she has got harder and harder work as the years have gone on. I am close to my nieces, particularly the older one, and she has had massive issues with that.

Never ever justify or give reasons for what you personally choose to do/eat - I would have said "That sounds like a you problem and perogative, and I never asked for your thoughts on it. Take your insecurities elsewhere and go cry into your pillow. I rather think you're eating too much cow - You are what you eat and all."

Only if consumed to excess. Cheese is high in fat but I enjoy a cheeseboard occasionally and don't see a nibble in moderation after a meal a problem. What really matters is your overall diet and lifestyle, Christmas binging is not generally representitive of eating habits during the other 11 months of the year.

I haven't gone through this entire thread but spotted this, and it really sounds like this SIL is a very unhappy person, so it is not about you it is about her. Some people try to drag others down in an attempt to make themselves feel better, it doesn't work because when they wake up the next morning their life is still crap and yours isn't.
