In a survey some time ago Americans voted used car dealers and politicians their least trustworthy fellow citizens. This was, of course, grossly unfair to car dealers.

The justice system has become a plaything for the elites. Seeing people here justifying it is grotesque. The rule of law is the cornerstone of liberal democracy and it is being trampled into the ground. Nothing flew under the radar. The charges against Hunter have been broadcast on the news from the beginning. I know because I've heard it. I live in the U.S. Someone here mentioned that our government is a shit show. It's going to get a lot worse in January. All the people with any sense can't believe that Trump could even be allowed to run for president let alone be reelected. I'm actually embarrassed to hear what other countries think of our government. All respect has been lost.

And this isn't a contradiction it's actually consistency and about standards in public life and a whole collapse in them across the board resulting in mass drops in public trust (which is reflected in actually polling on the subject).
