And then you get told its important to have you time. When???? When am I supposed to have me time??

I love my children and DH pulls his weight too. I also know as the children grow, it will get easier, but seriously, how are we supposed to do it all??

I'm a single parent with zero help, working full time. I just do what I can do. My house isn't always clean but who cares? We have decent food, clean clothes when we need them and we're not rushing around like blue arsed flies. I learned very early on that weekends are for recharging not charging around!

You can't do it all. So don't even try. One day when I have my house all to myself and I've retired, I will potter around and have it just how I like it. For now, I'm going with the flow. I'm not going to bust a gut to 'do it all'. Who even cares what my house looks like or how many activities we go to each week? Just cut it all back to what suits you.

And don't even get me started on Christmas. I've just stopped doing anything. No decorations, no going to fairs, markets, or pantomimes. No elf on the shelf, no Christmas Eve boxes, matching pyjamas or carol singing concerts. And you know what? It's fabulous! We enjoy Christmas Day all the more because we're not on our knees when it arrives. Try it!

And yet many people do.

Yes, I agree. We both work full time and are able to do all this. It doesn’t feel hard, but we both take on equal duties. I’m not sure I could do it as a single parent, but for a couple I think it’s relatively easy, for us anyway.
