arghhhhhhh

everyday this I speak to this man (in fact he is the husband of a good friend but also ).

he is a nice enough chap (ooh, get me sounding all posh), and at the moment is being fab as I have no car and he is helping with my school runs, so I cannot complain toooooo much, (or can I).

welllllllllllllll........

he talks to me, talks to DS2, speaks ABOUT DS2, says his name, and then laughs, all because he reckons he has a problem with speaking......well.....his problem isn;t any other words except JACOB, which for some reason he says as JACUM.....arghhh.

he is told by my son, and by me, repeatedly, that it is JACOB, he says sorry, and then says it sloooooowly, saying it with the B really obviously, and then in the next breath he gets it wrong AGAIN...

even my son, with his hands on his hips, tells him that he is wrong and that his name is Jacob, and no-one else gets it wrong (well, friends kiddies do but that is normal.....most of 'em can;t even say their own name's properly), but A GROWN MAN??????? >

no help but my dd-4 cant say that name she says Jacom

Psychomum5 · 29/04/2008 22:39

tis ok.....kiddies are except from my ranting.

they pronounce things very cutely, so I am all for it

my DD1 was self known as 'mennon' for years before reaising that she was in fact 'megan', and jacob himself couldn;t day megan either so she was called 'girl' until he was three (I always said we were going to collect 'the girls' from school to him, so he thought of her as 'girl', the other two however were excempt from his inability.....he could say holly ('olly), and natasha (tasha)...and max has always been easy!!!

tis adults, or one in particular, that gains my evil eye stare.....

i do know how you feel,. my dd1 has unusual name and people in street pronounce it wired... i have never said anything but i think they must hear me saying it enough so should change the way they say it... the children of these people can say it properly

SummerC · 29/04/2008 22:59

I know exactly how you feel!! My dd's name is Anya but everyone insists on pronouncing it "Enya"....drives me loopy! (err..not that it takes much anymore )

Psychomum5 · 29/04/2008 23:11

see my point then....adults are plain ignorant at times!!!!.

am off to bed now and am leaving my thread, probably to the cheers of a few!!!!

roll on tomorrow....maybe I will be back telling you all in the strictest confidence about my beating smiling sweetly skills!
