arghhhhhhh

everyday this I speak to this man (in fact he is the husband of a good friend but also ).

he is a nice enough chap (ooh, get me sounding all posh), and at the moment is being fab as I have no car and he is helping with my school runs, so I cannot complain toooooo much, (or can I).

welllllllllllllll........

he talks to me, talks to DS2, speaks ABOUT DS2, says his name, and then laughs, all because he reckons he has a problem with speaking......well.....his problem isn;t any other words except JACOB, which for some reason he says as JACUM.....arghhh.

he is told by my son, and by me, repeatedly, that it is JACOB, he says sorry, and then says it sloooooowly, saying it with the B really obviously, and then in the next breath he gets it wrong AGAIN...

even my son, with his hands on his hips, tells him that he is wrong and that his name is Jacob, and no-one else gets it wrong (well, friends kiddies do but that is normal.....most of 'em can;t even say their own name's properly), but A GROWN MAN??????? >

oh my god squirdle we've spent all day on this trying to calm her down and you march in with revelations like than?!?!?!?

that poor bloke is so going to get a smack in the morning

QuintessentialShadows · 29/04/2008 22:12

I agree with you. How terrible. How annoying. How simply irritatingimus!

My sons name is Kai. His old nursery insisted on writing KIA on all paperworks... On his peg, on his pictures, even after I corrected them countless times.

Kia is a car. Kia could possible be a girls name. It is 3 letters for goodness sake, how hard can it be to write Kai??

Squirdle · 29/04/2008 22:12

not really, just hedging my bets when you started speaking of torture and having to rack my brains to figure if I'd upset you recently.....

I'm acually never ever moving ever again!

Squirdle · 29/04/2008 22:14

Soooooorrrrryyyy!!!

She knows I'm never ever moving again! Didn't think she'd take me seriously!

susiecutiebananas · 29/04/2008 22:15

I see why you are irritated by this... however, i'd just shrug it off really, its not that important, I mean, he knows who he's talking about, you know who he's talking about as does your Ds, there is no confusion

My brother has a step son, so for ease, I'll refer to him has step nephew... even though he's as much my nephew as any of my other nephews and nieces IYSWIM? Anyway... I've met his Dad quite a few times. I used to babysit my step nephew regularly, and often this involved his dad dropping off to me, or picking him up from me.

I've known step nephews dad for nearly 5 years now. He has called me Lucy, since the first time he met me. I corrected him the first time. he still called me lucy, the second time and so on... one day fairly recently, my step nephew, who is now 9 ( going on 14 ) was dropped back to me by his Dad. His Dad said to him, be good for aunty Lucy wont you. Step Nephew says: Lucy? who's lucy? She's called Susie Dad! and rolled his eyes....

I was met with a look from his dad, which very obviously said- i've always called you Lucy, you are Lucy, I only know you as Lucy, you have never told me otherwise... it was a long look incidentally...

So, all these times, i've wondered, do I correct him again and say- 'actually its Susie?'... have I don the wrong thing in not doing it more than once? Its clearly now left a very embarrassed Dad to step nephew... he knew I knew and I knew that he knew that I knew...

Ok, so if you can make sense of any of this, you can see why i think its best you just let it go.. it just isn't that important

Psychomum5 · 29/04/2008 22:17

welll......I am now hyperventilating....I hope you are proud of yourself!!!!

well......maybe just a little instead.

hugs are always good to make me tho.

quint.....I feel your pain.....stomping on feet is a good form of torture don;t you know!!!

OP posts:
Squirdle · 29/04/2008 22:17

Anyway, can't sit here nattering all evening, I need to sleep! Psycho, call silly man the wrong name. If he is Bob/Rob call him Bom/Rom (can't think of any other man names ending in 'B') Or get Jacob to! Just thinking, even D can say Jacob/Caleb properly!

Psychomum5 · 29/04/2008 22:20

I know....I do know....I know it isn;t huge in the grand scheme of things.....I am calm sometimes you know (well, from this thread you would never get that ackkchully)....

but

I have PMT, no car (so am stuck in the house), DHH is being a new kind of irritating (hence theh DHH standing for 'dickhead husband'), and the eldest girlies are all PMT'y too....

I am allowed to be irrational at times like these....

so nurrrrrr

Hugs to you then, hugs a plenty!

Susie, I have had similar with one of the ladies at DS3's nursery. She kept calling me Lucy, I kept correcting her until I couldn't be bothered anymore (DS2 went there too, so been going on a few years) She now calls me by my correct name as we gave her a birthday card a couple of months ago. She was quite embarrassed. But in her defence, my neighbour is Lucy and her son used to go to the same nursery (and actually every second person seems to be called Lucy around here)

Psychomum5 · 29/04/2008 22:22

lol squirdle....that is his name!!!

OP posts:
Squirdle · 29/04/2008 22:22

She is not calm ever!! In fact I was amazed to see you sit down on Friday (albeit for 5 minutes) She just does stuff all the time!

Squirdle · 29/04/2008 22:23

Ooh I'm so clever Mind you, apart from Caleb or Jacob they were really the only other options.
