To think that people with extreme political views shouldn’t be allowed to vote?

Far-left and far-right ideologies are tearing society apart. Should we limit the influence of extremists?

Apart from the ones in Downing Street

😂 Ha ha ha.

This is one of the oddest of many many odd questions seen on here. How can someone respond apparently genuinely that a definition of extreme isn't required when they intend to use it to withdraw voting rights.

As someone who thought the definition of woman was uncontroversial we have seen how quickly authoritarian policies can take hold. Allowing everyone to vote is our defence against this.

You must be joking Grin

Cappuccinowithonesugarplease · 27/11/2024 09:13

Everyone is able to vote. Let's keep it that way!

peanutbuttertoasty · 27/11/2024 11:27

Absolutely not joking. I wish I was! There’s nothing funny about this government.

The notion that Keir Starmer is "far left" is hilarious.

StormingNorman · 27/11/2024 14:12

I would rather allow idiots to vote than live under an authoritarian regime.

SherbetSweeties · 27/11/2024 14:36

Maybe you should move to North Korea since you apparently want to live in a dictatorship

You can hate them for whatever reason, but calling them far left is just insane. Calling them left wing is enough of a stretch!

you can vote but as long as you vote as I say

I find it odd that you're so affronted by being asked to define your terms. You want to remove people's right to vote based on their beliefs, it's perfectly reasonable for posters to want some clarity on what those beliefs are.

You have "alluded to far-right and far-left" but that's not exactly clear. Personally, I considered Suella Braverman, during her tensure as Home Secretary, to be a far-right politician. I'm not trying to be inflammatory, that's genuinely what I believe. But many people would disagree with me (as is their right) and some of those people might even say that having that opinion means my political views are 'far-left'. Yet I know a lot of people who are much more left wing than I am, and to them I'm probably more of a centrist. So who decides who is 'correct'?
