To wonder if everyone has pudding/dessert after their main evening meal?

Whenever meal threads come up it seems the majority of MN have something after their main meal even if its just fruit or yoghurt. I usually have fruit or yoghurt as part of my lunchtime meal and evenings are just the one course. Am I in the minority? Obviously if I want anything later as a snack I do so but it's certainly not routine.

YABU you always have something after your main meal

YANBU you never/rarely have something after your main meal

I rarely have room for pudding - bit of a lightweight! Even when we go out, I hardly ever have more than one course.

Stretchedresources · 22/11/2024 19:37

Always a bit of chocolate.

henlake7 · 22/11/2024 19:39

I always have desert, just a portion of tinned fruit....I like ending my meal with something sweet.
It was apricots tonight!😀

IMustDoMoreExercise · 22/11/2024 19:42

I have a boiled sweet. I always want something sweet after my meal.

InTheRainOnATrain · 22/11/2024 19:46

My kids get offered fruit or yoghurt! I think that’s pretty normal so maybe why you’re seeing it mentioned a lot on here, although I don’t personally know of any adults that would have it too- it’s very much a kid’s thing and a chance to pack in some extra calories before bed if they were fussy and didn’t eat much of the main meal.

I do often eat a bar square of dark chocolate once they’re in bed though!

SmalllChange · 22/11/2024 19:49

No, we never really do.

Devilsmommy · 22/11/2024 19:49

I don't think I've had a pudding after dinner since primary school 😂

Suzuki76 · 22/11/2024 19:50

Never. I rarely order dessert either. I'd rather have a cheeseboard!

SmalllChange · 22/11/2024 19:50

Also, I don't really consider fruit as a pudding/dessert.

Although if it's tinned I do, so come to think of it, I'm weird 😳

leia24 · 22/11/2024 19:51

Never but I might eat a kit kat or something later on

Floralnomad · 22/11/2024 19:52

I don’t but my husband has a pudding most evenings usually crumble , sponge pudding of some sort , mince pie ( if I’ve been to Costco ) or rice pudding .

Threelittleduck · 22/11/2024 19:53

It varies depending on what we've had or just if I'm hungrier than usual. It's rarely more than fruit or yoghurt, same as the kids. Although I am quite partial to a mini chocolate bar a few times a week.

StormingNorman · 22/11/2024 19:55

I don’t have pudding after dinner. Sometimes when I’m out for dinner but never at home.

Rhaidimiddim · 22/11/2024 19:55

No.
Desserts are for special days entertaining friends and growing grandchildren.
Waste of calories and time and extra washing up, otherwise.

Snowpaw · 22/11/2024 19:56

I make a hot pudding maybe twice a week for my DD, usually a sponge pudding in the microwave with custard, rice pudding or this week I made some peanut butter cookies. I eat it with her sometimes but mostly its for her.

DP always has a bowl of fruit and cream for pudding.

CMOTDibbler · 22/11/2024 19:56

No, we've never routinely done fruit/yogurt/dessert even when ds was small

fanaticalfairy · 22/11/2024 19:57

Maybe ...once a week?
We had crumble the other day.

MissAmbrosia · 22/11/2024 19:59

Very rarely. Occasionally when eating out, as I normally prefer to have a starter and then i am too full. Or if having friends round for Sunday lunch when they bring something, or I make something like a crumble. For a normal dinner at home, practically never. Though we sometimes have a bag of mini mars bars/snickers in the cupboard and I might have one of them later on.

MissAmbrosia · 22/11/2024 20:00

I have fruit and greek yoghurt for breakfast. I would never fancy that after dinner.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 22/11/2024 20:00

Restaurant - yes if there is sticky toffee pudding on the menu
Home - yes if I have had a good workout that day I will have like a lime posset or rhubarb fool
No - if I don't workout however I will have a kaffir or protein yogurt for something sweet.

AllFours · 22/11/2024 20:02

We have a pudding every night after dinner! I’m a size 8, and my husband and children are slim as well, so it doesn’t seem to have a negative impact. And it makes us happy. 🙂

Lindjam · 22/11/2024 20:03

Some nights I only have pudding 😂

Sampler · 22/11/2024 20:04

We always have desert, normally just an ice cream or a solero type thing.

LizziesTwin · 22/11/2024 20:05

I did until August 2020. Have dropped 5kg & kept it off by avoiding puddings, I only eat them if we’re out or have guests now. I miss them.

Createausername1970 · 22/11/2024 20:05

Not as a general rule, puds are usually only on special occasions. Got nothing against them, but I am usually full enough after my main meal.
