I'll kick it off with Fairy Liquid!
Has anyone else noticed this? I have a dishwasher but often wash certain things, eg my big frying pan, by hand. You'd certainly need a mighty big squeeze these days, for a proper foamy lather.
Anything else? If nobody mentions Cadbury's chocolate, I will eat the Oodie I'm currently wearing Grin

I mean those are legitimate complaints but not a reason to be shit at your job.

Gen Z parents raised an entitled generation told them they’re special and a cut above the average. This is the result I guess.

Funny though isn't it - coz employment conditions and life chances for many of them aren't nearly as "special" as yours were.

I think it's great that young people think they deserve better than to be on the receiving end of customers' superiority complexes.

I don't really require anything more of retail staff than to process my transaction quickly and efficiently, and if I need actual help then to provide it if they can. I certainly don't expect or require them to smile or do any emotional labour.

You don't expect people to smile when delivering customer service? 😵‍💫

The whole basis of good customer service is at least pretending to give a shit about your customers.

@ocsober you shouldn't be on the roads. What would you do without your precious reversing cameras?

You can definitely see more with the camera. My car doesn’t have them but my work car does and I prefer reversing that as you can see directly behind the car/ the 360 viewpoint / helpful guiding lines for tight spots.

EvilsElsasPetSnowman · 17/11/2024 14:48

No but my car beeps when I reverse. If I didn’t have that I’d judge myself. But to claim people with reverse cameras are dangerous drivers is utterly insane.

Do you think that cameras are something people with poor eyesight get installer?

Think about it - if you have cameras that show all areas why would you avert your eyes to look at LESS than that?

Or are you one of these people who hates progress and thinks things were better when life was harder

No, I use my camera. But I also use my eyes and I wouldn't claim not to need to look because I have a camera. Which you did in your first post which is why people leapt on it.

No, they didn't. A whole generation of young people are not stupid or bad workers.

I've news for you - our parents thought the same of us. And theirs of them!

Supermarket take away wraps. Less filling.

I second Uniqlo. I got a cashmere jumper from there- good value and so far is holding up nicely. They do great men’s T shirts too.

PauliesWalnuts · 17/11/2024 19:13

It’s not just the strength of the loo roll that’s gone down the pan (fnar) - it’s the width. If it gets any narrower it’ll be like wiping your bum with a receipt roll!

100%

Dishwashers, washing machines, dryers ... all seem built to have to be replaced within 5 years. It's frustrating and expensive. It absolutely never used to be like that!

Yes, after two years we had to throw away a Bosch dishwasher. The repair cost was estimated to be similar to buying a new one.

We remember the 'good old days' when six or seven years was the norm, and with a decent repair man, another three years.

Planned obsolescence. What a waste of the world's precious resources!

“…and as customers we are well aware we are just shit on the shareholders shoes.”

Very well said @PontiacFirebird .

I’ve thought this for many a year.

It’s funny that you should mention this yesterday I bought a bottle of shloer and they substitute it for the zero kind, but I don’t think it even matters because I’ve tried the normal red one the other week and I wasn’t keen on that so I thought right I’ll try the white one because as a kid I really loved the white one it was and nice.
Anyway, they sent me this zero one and it was absolutely disgusting and I’m really gone off it. I do think they’ve changed the recipe. It doesn’t even taste anything like it used to so I would not recommend buying it for Christmas this year.

I agree with you about Shloer. It now has an unpleasant artificial taste and I won’t buy it again. We like elderflower cordial with fizzy water. Not the same but a good alternative.

Driving!

Someone reversed into me, they weren't paying attention and my car was written off. I've been on edge since but I'm even more aware of how badly people drive than I was. Other drivers scare me sometimes.

My heart was literally in my mouth twice in the supermarket car park earlier, because people reverse their tanks with only them in it cars without looking, I was sat in my bay waiting to go and my car started beeping as they were getting too close.

I second driving and supermarket parking. It's like the wild west. I literally watched some bloke reverse into a pedestrian who, luckily leaped out if the way. I beeped my horn because he was just oblivious, just kept on reversing. He then wound down his window and made, let's say, a rude sign. Fifteen minutes later a taxi driver, trying to parallel park reversed into a parked car behind him, I days to him you just reversed into that car, oh it's ok he said, I do that quite often.

Definitely I think it's mid range stuff that's suffered most

Mid range eating out
Mid range clothes
Mid range hotels

Any food and drink which has seen artificial sweeteners replace sugar.

Sugar is not the enemy if eaten/drunk in moderation and some of us would like a choice between the two.

Artificial sweeteners are vile and leave a bitter taste in my mouth and give me the shits (physically and mentally!)

This 100%

Pyjamas, from anywhere.

I decided to upgrade from Primark (it was a substantial upgrade) and whilst my new pyjamas have lasted longer, they're still obviously worn. I don't remember this being an issue when I was younger.

I am open to recommendations!

Polarn o. Pyret is the place to get pjs. Lovely thick cotton that doesn’t shrink badly. Washes well, keeps their shape. Downside is you’ll look like an over sized toddler in the stripes but my god you’ll be a cosy comfortable oversized toddler.

walnut whips-they used to have a second walnut inside at the bottom. In truth though pretty much everything started going to hell in a handcart when bounty bars did away with the cardboard support tray. Cunts.

Love a walnut whip. I'd forgotten about the second walnut. Also they didn't used to be made from two separate halves stuck together.

Remembered another one - Asda tin foil. Got it last month and it was normal. This month it’s really thin! Never seen foil like it before.

I went into M&S and was a bit disappointed at the knitwear. There's a lovely red jumper I bought a few years ago that is now made of terrible material.

I shop on Vinted now.
