AOC has removed her pronouns from her X bio

What does this mean?!

Are the Democrats moving away from 'woke' in the wake of last week's results? Is it nothing, is she not an ally anymore? Aibu to wonder what it signals?

@Coolasfeck I think you’ll find that the Uturn (ie the removal of the pronouns) has been noted as it is indicative of a significant ideological and policy shift in a party that has just gifted Trump the election, thus paving the way for Gaetz etc. Thus it is not a minimal issue.

You will also find that there are simultaneously running threads discussing all the issues you have just listed, commented upon by all the same PPs as here - but the thread title above is very clear what the topic of this one is, so why you feel the need to patronise and comment is bemusing. Perhaps you have also popped on the thread about strawberry ribena and robinsons summerfruits to comment similarly about Trump and mock the PPs there for their lack of priorities?.

We have also been subjected for more than 4 years to media reports, discussions and threads about ‘anti-woke’ and ‘the right’. Ad nauseum. Believe the #BoycottBoots tag has aroused a lot of kickback for precisely this reason. Not entirely sure how anyone might have missed them. They are still going strong despite (in fact because of) Trumps success and Reform’s rise in the UK.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge has left X

Now that’s just a bridge too far.

I wonder what the Clifton Suspension Bridge's preferred pronouns are.

In Germany, she, in Italy, he. In Bristol probably zir.

It is a trans-Avon structure, so I guess northbound/southbound depending which side of the road you're on?

Minion21 · 15/11/2024 07:11

Maybe her brain has started to work again.

Had a quick look and the majority of dems no longer show their pronouns in their bios. Am assuming that is a departure from previous party line, but am very surprised AOC as dropped them. She and Bernie Sanders were/are the marxist contingent of the Dems.

Marxism and gender identity theory are at completely odds to one another. It baffles me how many self identified Marxists pick the trans hill to die on

Yet I find you have an agenda. Clearly.

O have no agenda apart from o don't see all the fuss about pronouns

You r overthinking its because she’s now on blue sky which I am going to look at as no one in their right mind wants to be on a platform owned by that twat Elon musk. The disinformation hate speech allowed on there it’s disgusting. So she’s on blue sky now not checked if her pronouns on there but it seems,s she’s leaving twitter

It's funny you talk about disinformation, I imagine you didn't have an issue with their suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story before the midterms, as though that wasn't election interfering?

If you're posting here you can clearly use the internet and look up who AOC is if you don't know.

LostittoBostik · 15/11/2024 08:16

rubyslippers · 14/11/2024 21:21

Isn’t she pregnant?
nothing like motherhood to make you a TERF 😉

HA!

LostittoBostik · 15/11/2024 08:16

Actually shocked at how few people know who AOC is.

bombastix · 15/11/2024 08:18

Well I suppose it is positive. But what a crumb given all else going in the US. So disconnected really that trans rights got where they did. It’s just another basis to destroy women’s rights from the left and right. Both with different motivations

Good luck with your new health person Robert j k who is anti vax abd a conspiracy nut. Exactly the sort of crank that you lot love
The Republicans found nothing on his laptop they tried bit nothing really came out it was as usual a big fat lie by the Republicans but par for the course
Plus he wasn't in power he was a normal citizen there was nothing found that tied biden with any business hunter did .
It was false

Why would you be shocked? She appears to be a random backbench American politician. Expecting the average Brit to know who she is would be like expecting the average American to know who Karl Turner is. I doubt the most people in this country can name more than three American politicians.

And what's more, not of the political mainstream in the US sense.

I bet very few people in the UK knew who Bernie Saunders was until he sought the Democrats' nomination for President.

Random? She was one of the most famous politicians in the world a few years ago.

The Met ball gown?

I follow current affairs closely and had never heard of her I’m afraid to say. Looking at her bio she doesn’t appear to have held any cabinet position in the US government so would have had no international profile. So I fail to see in what way she would be ‘famous’ outside of the US.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 15/11/2024 09:01

She's famous for being an impressive young female politician with fairly radical (for America) views. She was very high profile a few years ago, kind of like Bernie Sanders was.

That's a shame for you, failing to see why she would be famous outside of the US. 😅 Obviously you weren't up to date on current affairs in 2019!

Me too, I searched for her name in my two newspaper subscriptions, very few mentions, even in 2019.
