Why are people boycotting Boots? Are you?

For full disclosure I haven't seen the advert yet, but I'll probably end up searching for it if I don't come across it naturally during viewing in the next few days.

I've seen the #boycottboots and have worked out it's to do with their new Christmas ad. What's the issue? Are you boycotting Boots or do you think people are overreacting?

Randomly choosing the poll options simply because as stated I've not seen the ad so I don't currently have an opinion either way

I bet people who are upset about free speech and "you can't say anything anymore" and are against cancel culture are some of the people who are also boycotting Boots because the actress used her freedom of speech to say something.

I don't like men in women's sports but given the theme, the dressed up men were fine. I actually thought they were all elves - just not in green.

I think people still remember the comment about the royal family being ‘terribly white’. I think if you cannot replace white with black without being called a racist it shouldn’t be allowed. There was no apology. Just saying it’s what came into her head is no excuse. 82% of the uk population is shock horror - white. I personally don’t care the colour of someone’s skin but do see constant accusations of automatic racism. I think it is very damaging and this thread is another example with many people assuming it is because she is black.

The % of Trans in the UK is tiny at 0.55% but so many ads are featuring them. The impact on woman’s has been huge and is ongoing - sports and woman’s safety. And I’ve seen more models which sets an unrealistic body image for young woman - so yes I actually find constant references to Trans annoying.

But I will sit quiet and remain a silent because I will no doubt be accused of being racist, transphobic if I voiced my views.

I used to worknin marketing and the video of any ad campaign is to engage your target audience and this is where I have a problem with the ad. Who exactly do they think their target audience is? If they are genuinely trying to appeal to a young, "woke" crowd then fair enough. But it doesn't seem to me to represent their actual customer base and is smacking some other agenda and let's see how that pans out for them.

Most of the Muslims I know (practicing and not) do lights and get togethers and secret Santa and stuff like that. Obviously they avoid the religious aspect but they do get into it in their own way.

But 99% Muslims dont celebrate Christmas, and why should they? its a Christian holiday. Sure some stuff like the trees and santa are pagan but again, muslims do not observe this.
