The neighbours accounts of the noises they heard coming from Sara’s house haunt me.

That they did fuck all about it haunts me.

Darling I’m not reading incoherent paragraphs. I . Also this just proves my point, throwing around the word ‘aggressive’ when you’ve clearly been outed. I guess if the shoe fits, it fits hahah ;)

I'm not sure why you're just replying to me.

Why are you not replying to all the other posters on here, who are saying that particular types of abuse of women and girls happen in certain religions. ?

desperatedaysareover · 13/11/2024 15:12

Time to being back the death penalty. I am well versed in all the legal, moral, religious and sociological arguments against it. I’d still re-ínstate it.

Lisanoonan · 13/11/2024 15:13

Poor wee sara. I feel so sad. All she could have done with her life.

Investinmyself · 13/11/2024 15:13

RedRidingGood · 13/11/2024 14:46

Why would he protect the others though? Sorry I'm not being goady, genuinely wondering what could motivate him to do that.

He has 5 other children.
If his partner isn’t convicted then he may feel she stands a good chance of keeping the children with her (4 are her children - one is a baby, 2 with special needs) and keeping them together.
If she is also convicted and imprisoned then potentially they will be split and housed in foster care or children’s’ home.

Well much as I'm not convinced by state care necessarily, I'm also not convinced that staying with her is a great idea.

To the posters asking why he had custody of her and not her mother, it is covered here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c98e6zle170o

The jury heard that in 2019 Sara was living with her mother Olga Sharif, but then made allegations of neglect and violence against her.
She said her mother was smoking cannabis, not feeding her, leaving her alone with another child and burning her with a lighter.
Mr Sharif recorded the allegations in a video.
This led to a court order that Sara should live with her father and his new wife, Ms Batool.

My opinion is that he might have forced Sara to say those things about her mother to get custody of her? She was probably being burned by a lighter by him - considering what he went on to do.

@Slowgrowingelm @Tandora @Chowtime @TinyGingerCat

Yes that seems to be what happened. . But the court were all too ready to believe it weren’t they?
why is that?
why did they follow a recording made by the dad? Where were the accusations of parental alienation and manipulation against him? When women try to protect their children from abusive men, theses are the accusations they face .

GildedRage · 13/11/2024 15:17

It doesn’t sound like the other two (wife/brother) are safe to be near children.

Anonymousess · 13/11/2024 15:17

This might sound horrible but would he be able to successfully say he committed manslaughter as opposed to murder?

I’m just thinking about his confession where he said he hit her as a form of discipline but didn’t intend to kill her. I think logically with the level of injury she received, any person inflicting that injury would surely realise death is imminent. What a horrible job for the jury in this case to decide.

There was an article in the Independent today, as part of their domestic violence series, about how two girls had expressed a desire to live with their mother, were sent to their allegedly abusive father, and smashed a first floor window, jumped out and ran away. They were 11 and 13, old enough for their views to he taken into account, but they weren't.

It doesn’t matter whatever you are. You’ve made quite a discriminatory comment which would offend most people. Also honour killings happen in all religions and cultures so what makes your point exactly valid other than blatant racism and ignorance.

Honour killing do not happen in all religions. Stop telling lies.

murasaki · 13/11/2024 15:21

timenowplease · 13/11/2024 15:20

Honour killing do not happen in all religions. Stop telling lies.

It might be fairer to say that they happen in extreme versions of all religions.

Would you like to name the religions you have issues with? There seems to be a few…. And which particular religion are you assuming other posters belong to? Come on put your big girl pants on and say what you actually mean.

And it’s a good idea to check your posts don’t come across as racist, or potential hate speech, otherwise you will get called out on it.

Might it?

Can you provide some statistics to back this up?

This man's habit of vicious violence was known to police.

Why is it not possible to join the dots when a man's violence against women is already known?

Anonymousess · 13/11/2024 15:24

@Tandora I think the difficulty comes from the fact it was Sara’s own word against her mother. I don’t doubt that she was coerced into saying those things but her mother likely didn’t have the means to defend herself against the allegations.

Let’s not forget that a court ordered this man custody - taking the child away from her mother.

Can we have accountability for the professionals involved please? CAFCASS, the family judge…

Edited

The poor kid was already in foster care from about age 2. Mother was deemed unfit with neglect and reports of physical abuse. The father probably seemed the most stable of the two at some point.
I thought there was also a full older brother that father also had custody. Did the other children all get left in Pakistan?
It's a shocking mess with terrible abuse being done to a little girl by those who should have loved and protected her.

mathanxiety · 13/11/2024 15:26

Slowgrowingelm · 13/11/2024 13:10

I used poor phrasing @Tandora
If the father already had a history of abusing former gf’s then he should have been a red flag for custody. In that instance it makes me wonder why he was still awarded custody.

Two words - male privilege.

And another few words - bias against women, aka misogyny.

Abitofhassle · 13/11/2024 14:44

Reminds me of the little boy in Edinburgh, Mikaeel Kular, he was the only child his mother abused and eventually murdered.
It seems so strange to feel such hatred towards any of your children never mind systemically torture one of them.
It’s so distressing.

If you read: 'A child called It' it's a good explanation if how one child can be scapegoated.

SabrinaChic · 13/11/2024 15:27

Anonymousess · 13/11/2024 15:05

I don’t think it’s a discriminatory comment at all, it’s true unfortunately. Their culture is restrictive of women, so naturally a double standard will follow. The people who don’t follow those standards are seen as “westernised”, it’s the exception as opposed to the rule.

I grew up in a city with a large South Asian population and girls I went to school with would be scared of the most mundane things eg what their parents would do if they saw them with bare arms in public. I’m just talking short sleeved school shirts or school-issued PE uniform. Girls would literally wear one thing when leaving their house, go to an alleyway, and change clothes to wear a different outfit to school. Literally placing themselves in an unsafe situation in an alleyway to avoid their parent’s wrath.

Other cultures abuse women too, sure. However it can be a widespread norm in that culture to restrict women to such an extreme extent, in ways other cultures do not.

Edited

I know south Asian boys and girls who were taught that dating as a teenager and having romantic relationships is extremely sinful.

murasaki · 13/11/2024 15:27

Anyway it's irrelevant to this case which is about horrific child abuse.

Sara's siblings are with their paternal grandfather, in Pakistan.

They are living in the home of the man who raised a monster Angry

This is horrific.
