This case is just beyond the realms of horrifying,

This poor child.

Troubling doesn't even come close.

What is the procedure when a school has seen signs of abuse and the child leaves?

sre123 · 15/11/2024 20:21

How absolutely disgusting those vile monsters are.

In Surrey, parents are contacted twice.

  1. by inclusion team to check that parents understand what they are taking on and checking that school didn't force the child out
  2. elective home education team - whose job is to check that the education is suitable. Part if suitability is safeguarding check.

She should have been red flagged and someone somewhere said 'no further action' to a safeguarding referral.

She was also abused for years whilst in school.

Same here, when the case broke that photo was everywhere and I found it troubling, she appears to be wearing full make up.

Edited

I find this photo being used everywhere quite interesting too. Then you see photos of her in a full hijab with no makeup on where she looks like a literal child.

I don’t know if relevant here, but often you see in cases like this, the female victim being classed as too “westernised” by their killers - which makeup and a dress could represent.

Regardless - in that photo you can see a faded bruise on her chest.

in some of the other public photos of her, you can see faded bruises too

One can only surmise as to why they jet washed her broken body.

To get rid of their incriminating DNA

🤮

I wonder why they did that too, but I suppose it’s obvious.

In that moment, it was clear a cover up was going through their heads. They washed away signs of her final condition and redressed her. They disposed of Malik’s McDonald’s uniform in the same bag. The step mother was booking flights. I assume they already had their story planned out at this point, so they thought cleaning her would match up to claiming it was an accident as opposed to torture.

The photo of Sara in makeup was given by her birth mother.

Did make her up for a show, I wonder?

howrudeforme · 15/11/2024 22:15

Perhaps.looks like she’s in fancy dress?

Lisanoonan · 15/11/2024 22:49

I still feel sad about this today. The fact that she had no happy day in her life. Every day was filled with fear.

Poor wee sara. I hope you're at peace somewhere now

FallinUltra · 16/11/2024 05:04

It’s been mentioned in court that ‘another child connected to Urfan’ has had bite marks and signs of having been burned with an iron. Has it been mentioned anywhere who that child is?

mids2019 · 16/11/2024 06:32

Of guilty it's got to be a whole life term? Would there be any argument against this?

fedup33 · 16/11/2024 09:06

An absolute disgrace. I've been on those stupid safeguarding courses. Somebody somewhere should have kicked up a fuss.

amIloud · 16/11/2024 10:11

Even in death the abuse continued.

I hope it is life without release. This must be harrowing for the jury, the barristers and solicitors. For all the court staff.

They purposely won’t mention that to protect the identity of the other victim

RailwayCutting · 16/11/2024 11:21

The school did report bruises to social services. It was after she'd been removed from school that the abuse became far worse. She'd been out of school for 4 months.

I haven’t read every detail of the trial, but I hope the school/social services followed this up once they pulled her out of school. That was a major red flag that made Sara’s world that much more smaller and significantly more dangerous.

There will be a serious case review (child safeguarding practice case review) at local or national level to examine the input of agencies involved with Sara and her family but these would take place after any criminal trial has concluded

Anonymousess · 16/11/2024 13:56

Good, I did wonder if a serious case review would follow. Hopefully meaningful change comes out of this.

I really hope it will be able to say more than just "lessons must be learned"

sre123 · 16/11/2024 15:22

The problem is that social services are so underfunded. I think they do their best, but with the case load they have, they need to close lots of cases and that means some children will unfortunately slip through the cracks.

I don’t have much hope, sadly. There was the same narrative with Baby P. The entire system needs a massive overhaul. Resources are under staffed and over stretched, staff in the public sector are under paid and often under trained (in regards to safe guarding, abuse and trauma), staff burnout is a big problem - all the while health and social inequalities are widening, more children are growing up in poverty, racism continues to be a big problem throughout the UK, mental health difficulties are rife. It is a perfect storm for such horrific abuse to happen and go undetected.

No one takes responsibility and the buck is always passed. Then there are apologies and ‘lessons learned’ and enquiries and reports which all say very sensible and reassuring things but no meaningful, sustained change comes from it. There needs to be a systemic change and shift in societal attitudes. Preventing abuse should be everyone’s business. I’m not holding my breath.

ASimpleLampoon · 16/11/2024 16:01

Agree with PP who that Family Court system has a lot to answer for.

It's role in this case needs looking into.

kerstina · 16/11/2024 18:13

Sounds like they all failed her including her birth mother. I doubt Sara was forced to say those allegations they were most likely true.
All those adults surrounding Sara should be jailed . I don’t believe the step mother is an innocent bystander . If she was why not do a cast? Why not jump at a chance to prove your innocence?

Anybody who lived in that house is part of it. The birth mother the wider " families",the school and the bastards that sat in their fancy house listening and did nothing.

Most likely as a result of SS speaking to them. BB gone ballistic at teachers
