My cat is missing

My cat has gone missing and I’m not coping . She’s honestly the most gorgeous and special animal you could imagine. She’s so loving and friendly and playful. She was born the same time as my latest DC and they’ve been growing up together.

She went out last night and didn’t come back. Partner and I were up every hour looking for her. This morning we’ve texted all the neighbours, posted in local WhatsApp and fbk groups, called the vet, reporting her missing on her microchip, put little and dirty clothes, food outside… we are going to print some leaflets and posters .. anything else?

our neighbour said he saw her last night when his dog chased her round the corner 😡.

Please share your positive cat stories.

we love her so much. She’s DD1’s pride and joy.

I’ve been out twice after dark shaking food and calling , and all that’s happened is I’m being followed everywhere by two neighbourhood cats with bell collars 😫. Also bumped into a neighbour who said those two scare her cat off 😭. So I’m not sure them following me everywhere is helpful at all to finding mine. Also the first time that I was calling and one of the cats came running I thought it was mine and I was so happy and relieved for a second, and it broke my heart when it wasn’t her 💔

Oh no. I’m so sorry you’ve not got her back yet.

Try to keep positive, my naughty cat got into a delivery van and was found the other side of town 3 weeks later. It was December and I was so worried about the cold and food but she was fine (bit scruffy and thin) but bounced back. Keep posting on local social media, I did the whole poster thing and also had a word with our local postman to keep an eye out. Hope you have good news soon 🙏 xx

TheShellBeach · 12/11/2024 22:22

DD2's cat was missing for over four months.
But she did come back eventually.

I hope your cat also comes back. It's horrible when you don't know where they are.

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 12/11/2024 22:30

My cat Ellie who is nervous and doesn't leave the garden normally got spooked by foxes fighting and disappeared for 5 weeks last year.
Did all the leaflets/social media/calling vets etc and almost gave up as no sign at all.
One night at 3 am I heard meowing and she walked in skinny but fine.
She has never gone away again.
I really don't know where she was but not with anyone as she is an ex feral who trusts only me.

Coka · 12/11/2024 22:33

My cat went missing for two nights. Like yours she never went far and came back when called. We went knocking on doors asking people to check sheds and garages. One house didnt answer but my cat heard me and my daughter talking and started meowing from inside the closed garage. Luckily it wasnt locked so we could let her out. Hope yours shows up soon, im sure she will x

Cece92 · 12/11/2024 22:36

I really hope she turns up for you all. X

bluebalou · 12/11/2024 22:36

I hope she returns , crossing my fingers for you x

So sorry OP I hope cat turns up soon.

I quite fancy having a cat but the thought of all the stress when they do this puts me off.

Many years ago I lived in Surrey and I didn't have a cat. One night my partner and I were in bed just chatting, dozing etc and there was a loud MIAOW and then this cat shot out from under the bed. God knows how long it had been there for. I just about had a heart attack. Anyway it shot down the stairs and I can't remember the rest. Presumably my partner went down and let it out. To this day I still don't know how it got there. Must have come in a door when it was open for something.

Hahaha that made me laugh at least

My cat went missing for 10/11 days once and bought himself home. Will never know what happened but I suspect he was locked in somewhere and they were on a 10 day holiday, so maybe prepare yourself for certain benchmarks like 7, 10, 14 days?

Register your cat lost on the microchip database too and put on Facebook groups as they're pretty successful.

Really feel for you.

I’ve been reading this thread and just wanted to say I’ve posted almost exactly the same one! My cat has also been missing since last night and I am heartbroken and really not coping well at all. Also had a neighbourhood cat eating all the food I’ve left out for my cat! It’s so so horrible isn’t it, I really hope they both come home for us. Mine is an indoor cat that escaped so I’m ever so worried.

I’m so so so sorry. Praying they both come back. It’s so painful isn’t it? My heart is just hurting so much right now. 💔

I have 5 cats. One goes out for days sometimes weeks at a time and saunters back. He is a good hunter and he also gets fed elsewhere.

Another has been locked in our garage twice when she didn't return for a day and a night. Then managed to get shut in our shed. You'd think she'd learn!

I hope you find her

@sadkittymum did yours show? Still not a sign of ours 😢💔

Ours turned up at 5am this morning. My boyfriend left for work and was calling him, was about to give up when he heard a meow from the neighbours garden and Stevie (the cat) appeared out of nowhere and came inside! He’s fine other than snotty (because he’s missed his medication) and hungry.

Honestly we hadn’t seen ANY trace of him since Monday at 6:30pm so about 36 hours. I was convinced he must be shut in somewhere but obviously not. Don’t give up hope!!!!❤️

calabria5 · 13/11/2024 09:17

Sending you positive vibes OP. Really hope your cat returns.

Don't give up OP...
my much loved rescue cat went missing New years day 2021 - something spooked her, either foxes or kids - she was missing for 9 weeks!!
She had run off and somehow got trapped in a disused building site and couldn't get out. She coped with rain, snow & the cold....
It was only when workmen started working on the site that she could escape. She was found via a local missing pets facebook page.
She weighed just 2.5kg from her normal 5kg.
The relief to have her back was overwhelming....
I am sure you will get your good news soon...

Omg poor little kitty!! What did she do for food?

I bumped into a neighbour who has just sent me into a spiral. She goes: “oh yes when my cat went missing we put up posters everywhere, did x,y,z , and then eventually it was actually a neighbour who found her body, she’d been hit by a car and hidden”. 💔 I’m so upset now - I was holding on to the belief that if she had been hit by a car the person would have notified us or taken her to a vet to be scanned. 😢😢😢

Don't panic @Lostcat it doesn't mean your cat has been hurt

calabria5 · 13/11/2024 16:30

OP, there could be some other cat moved into your neighbourhood who has chased yours and is blocking their route home. Sometimes cats get scared by other cats or foxes and hide out.

Have you asked your neighbours to check their sheds, alleyways etc.

Really hope your cat gets home very soon.

mcmooberry · 13/11/2024 18:37

Aw so sorry she's not back yet, may tonight be the night. Far more likely she is hiding than run over. I have had 2 cats run over (remaining cat is now mainly indoor cat) and both times heard very quickly. I would go back out tonight even if it feels pointless.

Alwaystired23 · 13/11/2024 18:55

Any sign yet OP. Have you checked indoors? Do you have a cat flap? I was distraught when my cat went missing for days. She was in a drawer in the kitchen, believe it or not. She'd jumped in and down the the onel below when I was folding and putting towels away. Why she didn't miaow ill never know. My other cats have gone missing for a day or so but turned up. The local stray wasn't seen for nearly a week recently. Myself and my neighbour were worried but he turned up. He had a few cuts. It looks like he was stuck somewhere. Your cat could be a stuck in shed or something if they were scared, and took shelter?

Floralnomad · 13/11/2024 18:57

It’s early days yet @Lostcat , ignore the neighbour and their tale of doom .
