Apoplectic that ITV have chosen Queen Camilla to host a documentary highlighting the domestic abuse of women when she was King Charle's OW for many years and complicit in his abuse of Princess Diana.

World gone mad!

NotOneOfTheInCrowd · 11/11/2024 21:37

Diana shagged anything that moved right from the off.

Mylovelygreendress · 11/11/2024 21:38

Surely if she raises the issue of DA , that is a good thing ?
She has been working behind the scenes for years so I for one am glad that she is highlighting the issues. For too long it was - literally-kept behind closed doors .

DaemonMoon · 11/11/2024 21:39

The lack of emotional intelligence and maturity on MN is really striking of late. Convinced people get sucked into echo chambers.

I'm glad she is doing this. It is important.

I mean having an affair with a married man , is obviously emotional abuse to the wife, Diana.

So let's be clear, Camilla has been abusive to someone.

Edited

Diana had many affairs, some with married men!

hellsbells99 · 11/11/2024 21:40

Well done to Camilla for the work she has done and is doing highlighting domestic violence. Likewise to Sophie for highlighting FGM and the work she does

According to google...

Diana started a relationship with Barry Manakee in 1985 and Charles and Camilla restarted their relationship in 1986.

No it was before that.

Diana said in her book that Charles was still seeing camilla, while Diana was engaged to charles. Before Diana and charles got married

Diana said she wanted to call off the wedding, but everyone told her it was too late.

Yes . So are you agreeing that people having affairs is bad?

Not true.

Wishitsnows · 11/11/2024 21:43

Camilla is doing really great work constantly highlighting domestic abuse.

EdithWeston · 11/11/2024 21:43

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 21:32

Why did you think that?

No, Charles and camilla did it first

The only accounts we have on timing are Charles saying that he struck up with Camilla only after the marriage had irrevocably broken down, which is usually taken to mean after Diana embarked on her first affair (with a bodyguard, beginning in 1985, admitted by Diana).

Charles of course had two main "sidepieces" in the run up to his marriage. There was no inevitability at that point that he would rekindle with one of them a few years later.

The "three of us in that marriage" was (partly) true from 1985 onwards - Charles had an enduring affair with Camilla. But it's not a full picture, as there were 6 others (her lovers) in there too.

Camilla's first marriage of course ended because of her then husband's repeated infidelities (he wasn't one of the inspirations for Rupert Campbell-Black for no reason)

OWRLOSERS · 11/11/2024 21:10

I find it hypocritical regardless of length of time and who she is.

Camilla knew exactly what she was doing to Diana by carrying on with Charles. As Diana said there were 3 in her marriage and this ultimately led to the issues, not the other way round. King Charles is nothing less than a cake eating entitled man who denied his young wife agency whilst he carried on with his sidepiece assisted by the establishment.

The hypocry of some on Mumsnet is unbelievable.

Of course the lies, gaslighting, lack of respect involved is abuse.

It depends on whom you believe. Unfortunately for Charles, Diana was a master manipulator and managed to keep her dalliances quiet. Ask Will Carling's ex wife and Oliver Hoare's wife their opinion of Diana.

Whatever anyone's opinion of what happened, Camilla is now Queen and has influence and people listen. Her patronage is extremely valuable in the battle against domestic violence.

So you're accusing King Charles of Domestic Violence? Is infidelity really considered DV?

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago where plenty women were arguing that cheating is abuse.

I mean, it's not how I think of cheating, but if the definition is harmful behaviour that impacts another person negatively then I guess? I don't think it's how most people would think of it though.

Menowhatdoyoucallit · 11/11/2024 21:45

Does it matter? The man married for duty, it didn't work, so he married for love and it's outlasted many other marriages. Diana died nearly 30 years ago, give it a rest!

She was talked out of calling off the wedding as it was too late

Havalona · 11/11/2024 21:46

I don't think it's about Camilla at all. It is all about the dwindling respect or even indifference towards the RF these days, apart from a cohort who would idolise them no matter what.

I have to say, even though their sentiments and support for certain causes may be admirable, I tend to roll my eyes and await the Firm announcing how hard they all work for our billions through their charity work every day.

I haven't (so far) been inclined to support a charity just because a Royal is a patron. For other reasons maybe, but for that reason no.

Why do I need to move on? Its not even that long ago.

People still talk about world was two and that was 80 years ago

Menowhatdoyoucallit · 11/11/2024 21:48

This has got to be a wind up.

Right if your husband marries you, then leaves you and marries someone else for love, would we all say "great!"

They've left a trail of bad taste

No, because she THOUGHT he was having an affair. Diana's own grandmother said that she was given to wild flights of fancy and that in hindsight, she herself shouldn't have encouraged her granddaughter's marriage to Charles.

Yes. Because he's not my husband anymore and I'm not his wife.

potatocakesinprogress · 11/11/2024 21:49

She is my second most disliked royal.

Won't be watching. Everything she does is for PR.

Maybe, but not the most efficient way to kill someone, considering she likely would have lived if she'd been wearing her seatbelt.
