Apoplectic that ITV have chosen Queen Camilla to host a documentary highlighting the domestic abuse of women when she was King Charle's OW for many years and complicit in his abuse of Princess Diana.

World gone mad!

This has become an absolutely vile thread, so I'm off. Dear lord, she's supporting a worthwhile cause. Unbelievable attitude from some people.

How quickly you forget what she was like!

Menowhatdoyoucallit · 11/11/2024 21:03

You think the Queen is the same as a known prolific paedophile?

She's not really the queen. And go away with your Emily Maitlis questioning as it makes no sense.

Emotional abuse is abuse though.

Lying, coercive control, it's all abuse.

Womens aid describes it as abuse.

You’re saying Women’s Aid describe the ‘emotional abuse’ as that caused by an affair as having the same impact as coercive control, violence in all its forms, gaslighting etc.?

So DH tells a lie he’s done the washing. That’s “lying”. Am I being emotionally abused and in need of an intervention.

I think we can all pragmatically see there is a spectrum.

NotOneOfTheInCrowd · 11/11/2024 21:06

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 21:02

Look up the definition of abuse. Yes she has.

Remember Diana said one time that she was roaring crying over what camilla was doing

It clearly didn’t upset her that much did it, what with her being to be the OW.

KatyaKabanova · 11/11/2024 20:31

She's supported charities and initiatives about domestic violence. She's using her position to publicise the issue and shine a light on it.
It's not about her.

Shine a light on the issue? It’s hardly unknown.

doodleygirl · 11/11/2024 21:06

Educate yourself OP, she has been involved with domestic abuse charities for many years, she is not fronting this programme just because she is the Queen.

Of course theres a scale.

No one said that womans aid have said that having an affair is the same as a man beating a woman up.

Of course there's a scale.

However Womans aid constantly talk about emotional abuse, about gaslighting and coercive control,

And how damaging it is.

Whatwouldnanado · 11/11/2024 21:09

Cobblers. The Queen has done excellent work on this subject for years. The documentary will shine more light on this subject.

Plenty of men are abused by women so hopefully this will be highlighted too.
(Her ex husband was a serial adulterer btw)

OWRLOSERS · 11/11/2024 21:10

I find it hypocritical regardless of length of time and who she is.

Camilla knew exactly what she was doing to Diana by carrying on with Charles. As Diana said there were 3 in her marriage and this ultimately led to the issues, not the other way round. King Charles is nothing less than a cake eating entitled man who denied his young wife agency whilst he carried on with his sidepiece assisted by the establishment.

The hypocry of some on Mumsnet is unbelievable.

Of course the lies, gaslighting, lack of respect involved is abuse.

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 21:11

It is a bit annoying her doing a documentary on abuse.

It was also a bit irritating when William did a documentary in homelessness. Right , it's a nice cause

. But its a but hard to stomach when the royal family are sitting in extreme wealth ( and not working) while there are a lot of homeless people

Queen consort to be correct

That was quite apparent in my earlier post, yet you chose to suggest ‘Women’s Aid think it’s all the same’.

Will leave you to it as have no interest in word salad gymnastics when anyone even remotely sensible can tell the difference between an affair and situations Women’s Aid deal with.

No. Queen. When the royal is the Queen it's Prince Consort but when the royal is the King his bride is Queen.

Eh youre bizarre.

I never one said anywhere that "women's aid think it's all the same"

Go back and show me where I said that.

You can't. Because I didn't

And Diana knew exactly what she was doing when she had multiple affairs during the marriage. The whole thing was a sham in the first place.

She's not queen in a lot of people's eyes.

I think a lot of people think

Charles could have married any of the women he was having an affair with. It jsut happened to be her"

Any of his side chicks could have been queen

mynameiscalypso · 11/11/2024 21:14

And camilla did too. I don't get the posters on here who point out that Diana was bad for having an affair, but don't think that camilla was bad for having an affair.

How does that make sense?

mitogoshigg · 11/11/2024 21:18

Nobody knows for sure that she doesn't have first hand knowledge of domestic abuse, she doesn't say she has but it's her choice whether to share or not if she has.

If her patronage can highlight an important issue that's a good thing

mynameiscalypso · 11/11/2024 21:18

I don't think either of them are bad. It was a shit situation that none of them should ever have been put in. I'm just amazed that people still care so much about it.

This is MN. Holding a lifetime grudge matters. Plus Diana was the nations sweetheart and Chas treat her like dirt.

Why wouldn't we? It's unusual.

I can't think of many other countries where:

the king has had an affair, then his first wife died
and the king has gone on to marry the woman he was having an affair with.

It's unusual. People talk about it abroad.

" That charles married his side chick."

NotOneOfTheInCrowd · 11/11/2024 21:20

I’ve reported this thread.

On a site where many women are victims of actual domestic abuse, to use a thread to slag off someone for her actions over 30 years ago, and to take away from the topic of domestic violence is disgusting.

As for the poster who compared Camilla to a paedophile, they should be banned.

weareallcats · 11/11/2024 21:21

Bat shit crazy thread.

Camilla is the queen.

Gary Glitter comment is shocking and awful.
