Or do have a bloody ghost?

Can anyone solve this mystery?

A bloodstain has appeared on the carpet beside my bed. About the size of a 5p coin and unmistakably blood (I gave it a tentative sniff when wiping it up).

It appeared last night between 7 and 10pm. It definitely wasn't there before that (my husband hoovered the floor just before 7pm). It wasn't him, as he didnt go back in the room after that, and neither did the kids. None of us have any cuts or grazes. Not on my period, or anywhere close.

Where would a large drop of blood have appeared from?! Could I have bled from somewhere and not noticed?! I discovered it just as I was getting into bed and I really freaked myself out.

... I guess I have ghost with a nosebleed.

Do you have a cat, or any other animal in the house?

Arlanymor · 11/11/2024 19:40

Do you have pets?

BloodyGhosts · 11/11/2024 19:43

No pets, and the windows were closed.

...unless I have something living under my bed 😱

Check the top of your cistern...

LaLaLaurie · 11/11/2024 19:45

Has something been dropped and he’s hoovered it in? Happened on our carpet when a tiny bit of lipliner got hoovered into the carpet.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/11/2024 19:46

I take it you've looked up at the ceiling?

😂 that was the first thing I did. Blood dripping from the ceiling is the stuff of nightmares

It wasn't rubbed in at all, so I don't think it was that.

Could one of you have cut yourself without knowing? I somehow managed to cut my hand in my sleep - god knows how - and I woke up to blood on my pillow wondering what on earth was going on until I had a shower and the hot water opened the wound up again. It was between my fingers, still baffled by how I did it. I don’t have sword fights in my sleep to my knowledge…

freddyfluffball · 11/11/2024 19:50

How do you know the kids didn't go in? That would be my first thought.

freddyfluffball · 11/11/2024 19:52

Or it fell from your husband post hoover. Did he possibly hurt himself pressing the button to pull the hoover cable away (lethal!)

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/11/2024 19:53

I'm firmly in the camp that weird stuff does sometimes happen, so if none of you have sprung a leak, my last logical thought would be an injured rodent or maybe large spider.

But if it looks like it's dropped from a height, that's less likely.

I dunno OP.

I'm currently dealing with the mystery of the missing remote control. I live alone, am of sound mind (kind of), have never sleep walked and wasn't even drunk the night it vanished off my bed while I was sleeping.

Weird things happen.

They were in the bath while he hoovered and then I took them straight to bed. They're only little, so I'm (usually!) aware of there whereabouts. They also get so giddy when they sneak into our bedroom that they definitely wouldn't have gone undetected

From someones nose, assuming its genuinely blood. Could have been a sneeze with a bloody snot booger.

This was my second thought (after checking the ceiling) but we checked ourselves for cuts, and it was such a big blob, we definitely would have noticed if it was from us

That was my first thought 😱 I remember reading about someone thinking they had a leak stain coming down the wall then found out it was their upstairs neighbour decomposing 😬

I think I'd rather a ghost than contemplate the possibility that there's a rodent bleeding somewhere in my bedroom.

I hope your TV remote turns up soon! Have you checked your kitchen cupboards? (Speaking from personal experience here)

I'll put that on my list of things to torture myself with at 3am

Yes, wounded critters gasping their last undetected tends to end up with unpleasant mystery odours so I really hope it's not that.

As for my remote, I have turned my tiny one bed flat upside down and allowed for old age. I went to sleep with it on the bed, alongside the other little thing for streaming platforms, which was still there but the big black one is absolutely nowhere to be found. Fortunately last week I found the remote I'd had to replace in my late DPs vanity case - I must have put it in there for safe keeping when I was moving, and promptly forgot about it, so I had a back up. Obviously I'm not allowed to have two remotes at the same time or it breaks the laws of physics or something.

I’ve been watching a program on phrogging today. You may get want to check your loft hatch or wardrobes…

It's definitely blood. And in all seriousness, a nosebleed is the only rational explanation I can come up with but wouldn't I have noticed a big drop of blood coming out of my nose?!
