Or do have a bloody ghost?

Can anyone solve this mystery?

A bloodstain has appeared on the carpet beside my bed. About the size of a 5p coin and unmistakably blood (I gave it a tentative sniff when wiping it up).

It appeared last night between 7 and 10pm. It definitely wasn't there before that (my husband hoovered the floor just before 7pm). It wasn't him, as he didnt go back in the room after that, and neither did the kids. None of us have any cuts or grazes. Not on my period, or anywhere close.

Where would a large drop of blood have appeared from?! Could I have bled from somewhere and not noticed?! I discovered it just as I was getting into bed and I really freaked myself out.

... I guess I have ghost with a nosebleed.

Was it still wet?

ImNunTheWiser · 12/11/2024 10:24

Well I can tell you it was when I found a large, dark red, unmistakably blood, spot on the middle of my bedroom rug.
It was a tick that had fallen off of either one of us (or possibly the dog) and had obviously been trodden on and squashed (again, possibly by the dog as it happened when no one else had been in there).
It was a mystery until I found the tiny squished, and now empty, tick body a few feet away.
Bleurghhh.

From someones nose, assuming its genuinely blood. Could have been a sneeze with a bloody snot booger.

😷
Would rather have a ghost!

coffeesaveslives · 12/11/2024 10:29

I once had a cherry angioma pop and bleed overnight - really freaked me out and you couldn't see any evidence the next day apart from the blood on my t-shirt.

Itoldyousoo · 12/11/2024 11:36

It's been a quick one off nosebleed. Probably man exertion from using the Hoover 😂

Yep, still wet and just sitting on top of the carpet, not soaked/rubbed in

Check the top of your cistern...

I don’t get it

Emmz1510 · 15/11/2024 19:12

Has one of you had a spot burst somewhere that you haven’t noticed?
5p coin size sounds big though!
You or OH have got to have had a tiny nick somewhere and not noticed. Zip caught on skin? Drop of blood from shaving legs or OH face?
Or something inside the hoover maybe like a tic or some sort of insect?
Weird! Please update if you solve the mystery?

It refers to a very, very, very long thread about a month ago. OP found blood on her cistern and other strangeness in the house. But the end of the story wasn't so good so if you didn't see it at the time (it got a bit silly with pile ons) don't worry about it. It was fun for a while.

It was blatantly insect poo.

OP have you got MASSIVE spiders crawling around your bedroom, or perhaps a giant moth?

No it wasn't.

I never saw the end of the thread, but read it for a while - what had caused it?

OAPapparently · 15/11/2024 19:46

Have you checked your feet? I discovered I had a (permanent) numb toe when red blood appeared on my floor. Had no pain (because of the numbness), turned my foot over and my big toe was cut.

It looked very similar to daddy long legs shit that I get on the bathroom windowsill. And the poster never updated, did she?

yehisaidit · 15/11/2024 20:33

@OAPapparently a neighbour had been letting himself into her house, and others I think.. 😱

Jingleballs2 · 11/11/2024 20:02

That was my first thought 😱 I remember reading about someone thinking they had a leak stain coming down the wall then found out it was their upstairs neighbour decomposing 😬

That might have been me! If you read it on here. I've told this on here.

My best mate used to work for a housing dept. and one her tenants kept complaining about an ugly stain up high on her hall wall which would keep gradually coming through any coats of fresh paint ..... ect ect.

As to your blood blob OP - no idea.
<unhelpful>

Laiste · 15/11/2024 21:02

Oh - just noticed OP hasn't been back for 3 days ....

Sparkletastic · 15/11/2024 21:22

Do either you or DH have a haemorrhoid?

VegTrug · 15/11/2024 22:02

@YarkYark I followed that thread then lost it, how did it end????

As yehisaidit said, the OP came back and said that a neighour had been letting himself into their and other properties. There wasn't much further explanation, it was implied that things had got rather involved (police I assume, but not actually stated). This seemed to be the explanation for things being moved around but there wasn't any explanation for the "blood" on the cistern, which, as many said a the time, was probably unrelated and was an insect, or debris blown through an extractor fan. Who knows. There seemed to be a lot of loose ends and unanswered questions but there may welll have been very good reasons why things couldn't then be explained in detail on MN.

Yes, wounded critters gasping their last undetected tends to end up with unpleasant mystery odours so I really hope it's not that.

As for my remote, I have turned my tiny one bed flat upside down and allowed for old age. I went to sleep with it on the bed, alongside the other little thing for streaming platforms, which was still there but the big black one is absolutely nowhere to be found. Fortunately last week I found the remote I'd had to replace in my late DPs vanity case - I must have put it in there for safe keeping when I was moving, and promptly forgot about it, so I had a back up. Obviously I'm not allowed to have two remotes at the same time or it breaks the laws of physics or something.

I lost my remote once off my bed. It had slipped into the duvet cover. Have you checked there?

Ahh. What an anti-climax! Thanks
