Or do have a bloody ghost?

Can anyone solve this mystery?

A bloodstain has appeared on the carpet beside my bed. About the size of a 5p coin and unmistakably blood (I gave it a tentative sniff when wiping it up).

It appeared last night between 7 and 10pm. It definitely wasn't there before that (my husband hoovered the floor just before 7pm). It wasn't him, as he didnt go back in the room after that, and neither did the kids. None of us have any cuts or grazes. Not on my period, or anywhere close.

Where would a large drop of blood have appeared from?! Could I have bled from somewhere and not noticed?! I discovered it just as I was getting into bed and I really freaked myself out.

... I guess I have ghost with a nosebleed.

Check the top of your cistern...

😂

It's definitely blood. And in all seriousness, a nosebleed is the only rational explanation I can come up with but wouldn't I have noticed a big drop of blood coming out of my nose?!

You sometimes get a bloody snot. Was it pure clean blood or was it sticky?

Just blood, not snotty at all but very dark red.

It will more than likely have been your husband. He’d have cut himself on the hoover.

I found a trail of blood in my kitchen in summer. 5 or 6 drops. I ran outside to check my son and I think panicked him thinking he was hurt but found nothing. Went back inside perplexed and found it was me. My elbow was bleeding and I have no idea what I had done as it was painless.

I'll put that on my list of things to torture myself with at 3am

Sorry 🤣

Branster · 11/11/2024 20:32

I think your hoover was bleeding OP. Put a plaster on it, it will be fine.

DonutRings · 11/11/2024 20:33

Could it be a spot or a blister or boil that popped and you didn't notice? (sorry)

soundsys · 11/11/2024 20:37

I think you have to accept there's something living under your bed...

pretzel1212 · 11/11/2024 20:49

@YarkYark
Thought the same 🤣

He's a Henry, which somehow makes this easier to imagine

Do you have an ensuite bathroom? And if so did your husband empty the bin after he hoovered. Could something bloody have been in the bin bag and it's dripped/fallen out as he moved it?

How old are your children? I discovered blood once and after many denials and much investigation my child admitted to having a wee play with a razor. They his the cut because they thought they'd get into trouble.

Freethebees · 11/11/2024 20:57

Is there 0% chance a child went in there?

No ensuite bathroom and I'm certain it wasn't the kids - they didn't leave my sight and they are both absolute crybabies when they hurt themselves. A cut that bled would have had them calling for an ambulance.

Hmmmm. I love a mystery. Was the stain wet or dry?

Freethebees · 11/11/2024 21:08

Kids nosebleed?

junerella · 11/11/2024 21:11

When I am pregnant I have random nose bleeds - sometimes quite a lot of blood but most of the time it's small and I often don't realise it's happened until I see the carpet stain.

Definitely no ghost here!

AdmiralCoconut · 11/11/2024 21:12

An engorged bedbug that's been squashed?

Though 5p would seem a bit big for that 🤔

StoneHenge85 · 11/11/2024 21:19

A slow nosebleed over night dripping onto the carpet in

SeriouslyWhataMess · 11/11/2024 21:21

I apologise for being graphic here, but when I was pregnant I popped a haemorrhoid I didn't know I had when sneezing, as I got out of the bath. I couldn't work out where the blood droplets on the floor and the edge of the bath were from and obviously panicked.

Compash · 11/11/2024 21:52

Also graphic, sorry, but - period starting early?

Sandwichgen · 11/11/2024 23:13

I had blood dripping randomly from one nipple - didn’t realise where it was coming from at first, assumed nose but there was no blood in or around nostrils. full panic stations when I worked it out , and a grim couple of months getting it investigated and sorted So just mentioning it here in case

Omg that sounds so scary!! Are you OK now??

My husband's theory is that it must have come from me, but I don't see how. There's absolutely no sign that I'm bleeding from anywhere (although of course I'm now checking myself over obsessively).

Still no closer to solving the mystery but thanks for all the suggestions! I've unlocked a few more fears 😅
