People putting up Xmas trees and decs now and moan about they are sick of dusting

I have a friend who has posted on FB with her tree and other decs up. She puts up tree etc about this time of year. Yet hear her moaning about how dusting the lounge takes longer due to tree etc.

Then have a colleague who probably puts up her tree about 10 later and her DH moans he he is sick of the sight of the tree a week before Christmas.

Both put tree away on Boxing Day! Noticed this a lot with the Xmas tree twirlies.

If you get fed up of the extra dusting, sight of it before Xmas, don’t put up your Decs up early then!

I don’t put my tree up until 2nd week of December

I’m blaming influencers for people putting up their trees in November. Presumably they all ‘have’ to do it because they’re paid to produce content and they need to flog Christmas tat well before the season really begins to give their affiliate partners the best chance of selling the most stuff. So they are decorating their houses already which makes (naive) people think that this is what they should be doing. It’s bloody ridiculous. About 20 years ago it was seen as a bit daft to put your tree up on 1st December - most people waited until half way through the month, but it keeps getting pushed further forward now. Why don’t they just stick the trees up as soon as the schools go back in September and be done with it? 🙄

Plenty of people were putting their trees up before December and SM was a thing. I find those who love Christmas can’t help themselves and wait til the leaves turn and fall to put out Christmas stuff.

Things like this are not always the fault of influencers. 🙄

Agree so much!

For the last few years I’ve hosted a Christmas event with friends the first Sunday of every December, so always done the decorations last week in November so they are up and ready for then. In the last couple of years, old uni friends and I have a cosy weekend away in an air bnb in Scotland with a hot tub etc, on the final weekend of November. So now I do my decorations the week before that, third weekend in Nov.

And I do that because it fits in with my life, my plans, I love having them up and enjoying them as much as I can… NOT because I have been sucked in by an influencer. Social media/influencers have zero impact on when I put my tree up, it’s never even crossed my mind.
