I suspect that whatever the OP and people who agree with her say, other people don't like them much either.

If only nice people like you would suspect otherwise 🥲

Would be hard to like someone who kept boring on about stinky humans, yes.

Really?!!

Is this some sort of joke thread?

I love people. They are fascinating. I love people-watching and i love talking to people. Everyone is interesting.

I'm an old person though. Is this what technology has done?! Or are you all old as well?

I think this is the result of being brought up and encouraged to be glued to a mobile phone or tablet from 18 months old. Result is people who can’t interact or think for themselves. When they have to they come across badly as OP describes.

Yes I agree with you OP. If I could retire tomorrow I’d be happy to not bother with people again.
I’m in my 50’s and see a negative change in society. Poor manners and no consideration for others are the main ones. Not to mention the snowflakes and the entitled. Gosh the list is quite long so I’ll stop there.

😭😭😭😭

Humourless people like yourself are the main reason I look forward to the cooling soil that precedes the abyss.

Most people stink everywhere. Bodies and food conspire to appal.

Are you OK @OptimismvsRealism ? Serious question.

RampantIvy · 09/11/2024 20:31

I always feel a mixture of exasperation and pity at all of these "people are shit" posts.

So do I.

You're wrong to assume that those on my side of the fence don't enjoy carefully curated and beloved relationships. But those who don't get in suck

That's a very black and white way of looking at it. I have friends, I also have one or two people I know that I don't care for, and I am neutral about everyone else. I don't dislike someone unless I have reason to.

So, to dislike anyone who isn't a friend is a very negative vew of life. If you weren't so negative maybe your life wouldn't feel so bleak. You sound like a glass half empty person.

Excellent post @SabreIsMyFave

Oh well, you need to see your GP. You may hate me but your posts are weird. I would say concerning, but that sounds patronising. So, deeply weird.

I agree @JaneFondue
I suspect that the OP is ND.

OptimismvsRealism · 09/11/2024 20:26

No, I smell fine thanks 🤣

Don't understand people who are scared to depart this mortal coil, though. Rather stay here to experience sickness and pain and cruelty for as long as possible?

But OP, find people that are not stinky or cruel. Like yourself. You are not the only one. No need to depart anywhere.

Unless you find someone who chews an apple too loudly and fast with an open mouth. Then I’d join you and happily leave too.

I've got enough already. Wall is going up. No new colleagues will get to enjoy my friendship. No neighbours my jam. Everyone who isn't already in the circle is essentially dead to me because people suck.

I really like people and enjoy meeting people. Even when they're not 100% lovely.

This is a very Mumsnet thread. I think it's such a shame that people are becoming more and more introverted.

I also think people having some bad experiences with other humans deciding to hide away is this best solution are profoundly wrong. It feels like there's more of an expectation that you should not have any interactions with anything in life that are even slightly negative. It's like some depressed people think the answer is to lie on their beds but that's the worst thing you can do.

If you never go out and see other people you're constantly reaffirming your original opinion.

Abracadabra12345 · 09/11/2024 20:36

I think that the more you work from home the more you hate people and think the world is shit. It’s only your few friends who happen to be nice and good people. It’s not true

I think @happybluedog has nailed it

Titsywoo · 09/11/2024 20:38

I have been guilty of saying I hate people but I run a retail business and people can be dicks in that environment. Mostly people are lovely when you know them properly!

tobee · 09/11/2024 20:38

And if people are "dickheads" why is that stopping you from going out? Why do people seem to expect that they will fall to pieces if they encounter dickheads? We're much more resilient than we give ourselves credit for.

I go out every day multiple times a day

Here to confirm

People suck and a good 50% reduction (if I could exclude the people I care about) would improve my quality of life considerably

I really do think it’s a huge problem @Abracadabra12345. Maybe especially to younger people.

Because it's traumatic and makes me wish I didn't have to exist. Always have felt this way. But now I have reached a position where I think

Fuck it

Why should I give anything to this world

People suck

I don't want to engage with them

Ooh I agree with this with my whole heart

tobee · 09/11/2024 20:44

I think you could do with some therapy op. Obviously not in person though coz the counsellor will be stinky.

Anyway, you seem determined to carry on with your dislike (hatred?) of people so maybe you should just crack on and stay at home. We probably won't miss you.

tobee · 09/11/2024 20:45

Do you really mean traumatic op? Because it's a pretty strong term.

RampantIvy · 09/11/2024 20:47

I think you need to see your GP. It isn't normal to feel this way.

It's normal to feel this way

Doping yourself up to convince yourself that the awful dynamics of human existence are cool beans isn't particularly worthwhile imo

How very bland and normcore of you to suggest that @RampantIvy!😉
Surely it's much cooler and oh so very subversive- on MN at least- to continue hating everybody.

BetterInColour · 09/11/2024 20:50

Ironically, when you actually start getting old and dying, you have to depend on other people, mostly strangers, more than ever. Hospital staff, cleaners, carers, social workers, nursing home staff, it's a time of life you often do want to pull away and hide, but the opposite happens. Just preparing you OP.
