I'm old and now have four friends (well three , if you don't count siblings) because most of my previous friends are now dead.

It's quite lonely And I'm someone who is happy on my own, most of the time.

my experience is that our lives become smaller with each year. We have fewer friend's, we get more frail. in the end, it's just one person, ourselves.

I think about being alone all the time because I hate loneliness. My husband is likely to predecease me and I have no kids. My sister is a fair bit younger and I have a lot of friends from school. So... I might get fairly far if I live into old age. Maybe. I don't intend to live beyond 70 unless my husband is still alive then.
