Rice pudding for breakfast

Feels indulgent but is it nutritionally similar to porridge or am I deluding myself? Homemade in a crock pot with pudding rice, semi skimmed milk, mixed dried fruit, sugar and spices.

Usually I prefer a savoury start to the day but this feels like it will keep the cold out.

You're an adult and can eat whatever the hell you want to for breakfast.

SleepingisanArt · 08/11/2024 08:52

Perfect! Please can I come round for breakfast?

Grepes · 08/11/2024 08:52

Have whatever you want for breakfast. I often have leftover curry on toast with a fried egg on top.

Devilsmommy · 08/11/2024 08:52

I've done this 😊

TheKeatingFive · 08/11/2024 08:56

It sounds great. Carbs and dairy are the core complement of most breakfasts, to be fair

Onthesideofthespiders · 08/11/2024 08:56

I had flatbreads with a homemade curry sauce for breakfast, and some mango!
Have whatever you want!

Cloouudnine · 08/11/2024 08:58

I love rice pudding. I guess the main difference is the “healthy oats” thing, fibre and whatever it is in oats that makes them so good for you.

I really cannot talk about healthy breakfast- I’m eating banana and bagel which seems like a calorie dense start to my day if anything ever was!

Cloouudnine · 08/11/2024 08:58

I am adding pudding rice to my shopping list Op…

2triangles · 08/11/2024 08:59

Thanks all. It's odd how sweet rice feels indulgent compared to porridge oats when there's probably not much difference between them.

Eat what you like. Sounds delicious.

ILikeItWhatIsIt · 08/11/2024 09:06

I mean, it could be worse. I've had Turkish delight and Percy pigs. Hope that helps.

bloodredfeaturewall · 08/11/2024 09:07

it's fine

maybe try leaving out the sugar next time if you are using dried fruit. and swap out white with whole grain rice.

my room mate used to have rice, seaweed and fish for breakfast. it's common to have this in japan.

I like the idea of you heading out to face the day on a mad sugar rush…😀

You get to choose your breakfast, OP. I imagine that nutritionally oats are a better choice than white rice, but fuck it, there have been times when I’ve had leftover birthday cake or a Bloody Mary.

And yay for all fellow curry eaters. I had aubergine curry for breakfast yesterday. Delicious.

CowJumpsovermoon · 08/11/2024 09:18

I love hot rice pudding in the cold winter mornings for breakfast

LivingOnTheVeg · 08/11/2024 09:20

I think you should probably meet for breakfast with the poster of another thread who’s eating Yorkshire puddings and jam for breakfast. 😉

gannett · 08/11/2024 09:21

I had pistachio cheesecake for breakfast yesterday. DP's colleague made it and he brought a slice home for me, but I wasn't in last night. Needs must. It was delicious.

Sounds like the perfect breakfast to me 😊

OP, have whatever you like, I had shepherd's pie for breakfast once, just because I fancied it.

OMGitsnotgood · 08/11/2024 09:25

Rice pudding is just a cooked version of rice crispies!

I'll eat anything for breakfast - recents have been leftover lasagne and left over apple crumble & custard!

Friends laugh at me but it's interesting how bacon, egg, sausage etc is acceptable for breakfast but leftover Chinese isn't!

😮 more puddings for breakfast?

Brown or black rice would make it more healthy, except I prefer to do it your way.

mickandrorty · 08/11/2024 09:32

sounds fine to me I ate a bag of tomato wheat crunchies for my breakfast.

SpunkyKoala · 08/11/2024 09:33

Completely fine and if I had some I’d be having it too - now I’m going to make some for tomorrow

RecycleMePlease · 08/11/2024 09:34

In asia they have Congee - which is a kind of runnish rice porridge - mind-you, it's generally savoury with things like fish in it (or my friend was trying to get me to have it with Frog in it while I was pregnant as she said it was good for the skin)

Ok now I have the, "if you want a crunchy wheaty eaty, eaty a wheat crunchy" jingle in my head, which landed in my brain as soon as I read the words "wheat crunchy", despite having forgotten these even existed 😂
