To think Kemi and Nigel will likely win the next UK election after making a pact of some kind and fighting on an immigration / identity politics platform?

Especially after Trump’s win today.

labour has a tiny lead at 27% today (6th nov, politico.eu polling )

tories have 27. Reform has 19.

so that’s a possible 46/27 which gives a right wing team up more MPs than Labour has now. (OFC in any pact they won’t get all those votes)

this Labour majority is paper thin. Everyone hates Keir.

She hasn't been given the time to prove herself good or bad yet. There has to be some fire to be baptised in. Todays PMQ for example

What impressed you about her performance at PMQ?

Yes and what with his cringeworthy gaffes such as calling Sunak Prime Minister repeatedly <no Starmer that is you, you knitwit> then of course his infamous release the sausages demand.
He is Biden mark 2.

Totally! At least Biden had the excuse of age and infirmity. I wince even now at the “sausages” remark (as well as every time Rayner opens her mouth). And David Lammy looks a bit daft (yet again) after his hyperbolic tweets about what he’ll do if Trump got elected. (Spoiler alert: he won’t).

Not a statesman among them. Is this lot really the best we can do?!

Had the balls to congratulate trump.

So did Starmer and Lammy.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/11/2024 16:15

The fact that you're not capable of seeing it doesn't mean that it isn't happening.

Trump's own former Chief of Staff - who is pretty far to the right himself - has described Trump as a fascist. Various other former close aides have agreed. This is not some left wing conspiracy to discredit him. These are the very people that Trump himself picked to work alongside him.

You can choose not to engage with the truth, but that just makes you part of the problem. History will not look kindly on those who supported and defended the far right.

So did Starmer. That's what politicians do when someone gets elected.

Your bar is very low.

Point at where the fascists and far right hurt you on the doll....

I don't see any far right. I don't see any fascists.

My previous post was responding to this but I forgot to quote.

again, please point at the far right.

In my mind, far right is gas chambers, not a sensible immigration policy.

I would caution the Labour Party to look at today's result in the States. Trump was reelected by the US citizens who felt disenfranchised and not heard by the Democrats. Labour are currently ignoring the proportion of the population who feel their concerns are being ignored and dismissed as racism or bigotry. Labour should perhaps pay attention and learn that they won't last long if the people in this country feel that they aren't being listened to. There are a lot of people who would switch back to a Tory vote and would find the prospect of conservative and reform unity as appealing.

"everybody hates Keir'? What labour supporters or Tories? Kemi won't last. I don't know why you think Britain will become a bunch of racist Farage supporters overnight?
The majority of people in the UK are not 'british' in the racist way kemi and farage describe. As a second generation immigrant I can't see the country turning Uber right. But I do live in a big city that's very multicultural. And I'm not a bigot.

I mean it was a bit of a pun on everyone hates Raymond but yes, everyone does actually hate Keir.

And, a sensible immigration policy is not "bigoted"

And calling all Farage's supporters Racist, is exactly why Trump won, and just why I think Kemi/Farage will win next election.

UK’s Keir Starmer suffers historic drop in approval ratings

The prime minister’s approval rating takes a 49-point tumble just months after a landslide election victory in July.

@doodleygirl "Who is the ‘everybody’” who hates Keir?"

The electorate:

www.politico.eu/article/uk-keir-starmer-labour-suffers-historic-drop-in-approval-ratings/

Ifv everybody disliked him, his net approval rating would be -100.

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/11/2024 16:38

I mean it was a bit of a pun on everyone hates Raymond but yes, everyone does actually hate Keir. You cannot say that. Not everybody on his thread hates him, let alone the wider electorate. And his approval ratings don't demonstrate that everybody dislikes him.

this is a misunderstanding of the numbers. Labour have a seat majority. They do not have a popular vote majority at all, in fact they won the last election with a historically low total% of votes in the country. Labour lost because Reform ran - no other reason at all.

This is the polling on halloween.

It's not a misunderstanding - I was quite clear about them having a seat majority.

As I said approval ratings do not matter in the slightest this early on in a parliamentary term. Even if their approval rating was zero, it would not in any way affect thier ability to govern or pass legislation.

Do you recognise these words from PMQs today? - "May I take this opportunity to congratulate President Elect Trump on his historic victory... I look forward to working with him in the years to come"

In case you don't recognise them, they are the words with which Keir Starmer began his answer to the first question.

well you're no fun.

Also there are a great many reasons why it might happen way before that...

Considering that we adopted a fixed term parliament in 2011, what scenarios do you think might cause an early election?

Boomer55 · 06/11/2024 16:51

Badenoch has said that she wants Farage nowhere near anything Tory. 🤷‍♀️
