Nice bit of misquotation/spin there.
Vance's actual words, found by me in a 10 second search on left-leaning fact checking site, Snopes, is as follows:
Kelly: You mentioned Usha. [News anchor] Joy Reid in that montage of media reactions I played, suggested that what your comments get to is that: the only valid version of America is a white woman who stays at home. That's your position according to her, you only value white stay-at-home moms.
Vance: That's just so disgusting Megyn. I love my wife so much. I love her because she's who she is. Obviously, she's not a white person, and we've been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha. She's such a good mom. She's such a brilliant lawyer and I am so proud of her. But yes, her experiences have given me perspective in the way it's really hard for working families in this country.
They are from his interview with Megyn Kelly 3 months ago, which included a conversation about how strong and brilliant women have been his backbone throughout his life, from his grandmother and sister who helped raise him when his father was absent and his mother was an abusive addict giving him an horrific childhood, to his brilliant wife whom he met at Yale Law school (which he got into as a working class kid getting a scholarship via serving his country in the armed forces), and who taught him how to have a loving relationship and family of his own. He's talking about how his grandmother was as strong as nails, then says about Usha:
"Usha is more sophisticated [than his grandmother] in the ways of the world, but I think what unites them as one, they're very tough, two, they're incredibly protective of their families, three, they're very smart."
He then gushes about Usha having introduced him at a convention, and that she's a tough act to follow because she's so beautiful/smart/charming and that he wanted her to be herself in that address because he loves her and thinks the world will fall in love with her. He talks about how she rejected having a speechwriter, but wrote her own speech and said exactly what she wanted to say. And he was so proud of her.
He clearly sees he as so much more than merely "brown" and a "mom"
