Another fatal dog attack

upat4am · 04/11/2024 00:41

So saddened by the news a 10 year old girl has been killed by what sounds to be an XL Bully.

I'm shocked that any family would keep one after so many attacks. There are worse things than kindly being PTS.

It seems like the same line every time "loving family dog, never done anything like this".

How many do there have to be before people realise any XL Bully has it in them. It's not their fault, they're not bad dogs, it's just genetic the same way a dachshund barks or a spaniel's tail wags the dog.

People keep saying about dog bites. That sounds quite painful but tame. I’d imagine a bite from an XLB involves ripping and tearing flesh along with broken bones and, as one PP said, they go for the throat. Some reports say the victims bleed to death.

I saw a video of a woman in America being chased by 3 large pit bulls (obviously not illegal in the US). The owner set them on her. One grabbed her arm and shook it whilst she was still on her feet. Instantly you could see her arm was broken as it started flopping around. She escaped by climbing on the roof of a car and the owner called them off.

Disgusting post. Don't give a shit if you have knowledge of "these communities" you don't know this family.

Even with your shitty caveat of "some families" your post is fucking appalling.

Edited - if it gets deleted I'm not the one who reported it, think it should stay up for everyone to see how awful you are

Edited

Oooops seems you are part of one of these families

I've said this on here countless times. XL bully breeds jaws are comparable to a bear trap in regards to pressure etc :( Once it's got you,it won't let go :(

For saying a post (directly responding to another saying this family had suffered enough) claiming some families revel in the horrific death of their child was really shitty, bearing in mind that poster has no idea what "that" family is like?

Can you expand on what you meant?

I personally think the first time a dog bites should be the last time. And I mean any dog, not just the dangerous breeds. Honestly makes me sick to hear people defending them. They sound like abused women defending the husbands that hit them.

I've come to defend regular dogs that have bitten, so I hope that you can stomach it.
There's a flaw in your analogy. The dog should represent the abused wife, not the abuser. I'm talking about regular dogs here, not XLs who have a different motive and method.

If a woman is cowering and terrified in a corner with a man standing over her shouting, belittling and possibly hitting her, would you blame her for striking back at him? The dog adopted from the shelter may well have been treated like that wife and bitten the abuser's hand in fear.

I take it that the woman who retaliated would be allowed a new partner, one who didn't hit her? A loving home?

You won't get a dog owner admitting they were bitten due to abusing their dog, anymore than a man will admit to beating up his previous partner.

Arraminta · 04/11/2024 14:59

Exactly. If they truly cared about their child they would never, ever have bought a banned, attack dog. I expect they'll just go on to have more children which they'll neglect and take for granted. If they have another girl they'll probably give her Savannah as her middle name as a tribute <heaves>.

No doubt her Dad will have Savannah tattooed somewhere about their person and there'll be numerous plastic flowers, cheap teddies and garish balloons adorning her 'shrine'.

There will be a whole host of empty, meaningless gestures to demonstrate what loving parents they were......other than, you know, actually acting responsibly and keeping their child fucking safe.

I’ve just read on the news that her family are ‘shocked and devastated’. I really don’t understand why they are shocked after knowingly buying a banned breed! Whilst it’s extremely tragic and I really feel for the poor girl, I don’t understand why her family would use the word ‘shocked’! What did they expect!

Dahlietta · 04/11/2024 16:02

Most of the fatal dog attacks in America are assigned to 'pit bulls'. As a pp said above, it's actually quite difficult to say the exact breed of these types of dog because it's more about characteristics. Pit bulls are banned here so XL bullies became really a way of getting around that ban. I would imagine that they're pretty similar dogs fatally attacking people in both countries though.

SerendipityJane · 04/11/2024 16:14

I really don’t understand why they are shocked after knowingly buying a banned breed!

"Can't happen here" is a well known aberration of peoples ability to determine risk. Coupled with the arrogance of "Not my ...."

latetonews · 04/11/2024 16:17

I think the family probably are shocked and devastated. Very few families would have a dog in the house if they thought it would kill their child.

Unfortunately most XL owners fit certain stereotypes and no amount of statistics or expert opinion will convince them that their dog is a danger. You. Can't. Fix. Stupid.

It doesn't make them cruel parents though.

ScrambIed · 04/11/2024 16:45

KoalaCalledKevin · 04/11/2024 13:43

And of course the lovely responsible owner of the dog who I'm sure had never ever hurt a fly before ran away from the scene.

That's called a pit and run. Typical of bully-breed owners.

SidekickSylvia · 04/11/2024 16:50

The link posted above regarding the author attacked in the Nottingham area, reported that the owner asked the victim 'Is it hurting?' while trying to stop his dog from ripping his arm off. I'm not sure what score of IQ that kind of question would suggest, but it must be pretty low.

FYI - If you click on the link, there's a graphic photo of his injuries.

They bought a banned breed ffs!! XL bullys are BANNED!!! So yes thinking you’re above the law and being arrogant enough to acquire a dog that is clearly banned will obviously make people stereotype them and yes I do judge people who think they’re arrogant and invincible enough to feel the law doesn’t apply to them and put getting a banned breed above their child’s safety and welfare! As I said, I have absolutely no sympathy for that poor girls parents, they knew what were doing when they acquired the XL bully because they’re banned! Therefore I think they should face man slaughter charges! Please stop trying to defend the parents! No parent in their right mind would allow a banned breed near a child! End of! So yes I don’t know how they can claim they’re ‘shocked’ when it those type of dogs are banned for a reason, that reason being they’ve taken so many innocent lives already!

I cannot imagine what that poor girl will have suffered due to irresponsible, arrogant and negligent parents!

From the US...
Since then, there have been 23 fatalities, with the XL bully being involved in many of them.

It also states not many figures are kept, however 23 deaths. You see the fluffy youtube videos which owners naturally share to promote the fluffy dope dog image of their furbabies

There is a mother at my little girl’s school that brings her XL bully on the school run. It wears this flimsy leather muzzle and she loosely ties it to the front gate where hundreds of children walk in and out of the school. So many children are visibly scared of it. Including my own daughter. It looks absolutely terrifying, never seen such a large head! I swear it’s powerful enough to snap the skinny material lead used to tie it. And the muzzle looks so unsafe, half arsed. Every time I look at it I imagine all the people who have been killed by them. I don’t know the ins and outs of the laws but it doesn’t feel right that it’s just sitting there every morning and every afternoon with hundreds of children around it. I can’t believe another life has been lost 💔

@LuluBug24 report it to the dog warden every single time it happens. They can at least check if it has an exemption and mandate it’s not left tied up outside a school FFS!

taken from DM article ( not including most recent attacks) and there will be many more unreported attacks.

February 3 - A grandmother was killed by two XL Bully dogs in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.
February 9 - A woman was bitten in the face by a 'bully type dog' in Lanarkshire.
February 10 - An eight-year-old boy was mauled by a dog believed to be an XL Bully while playing outside in Merseyside.
February 18 - An XL bully-type dog was shot dead by police after attacking another dog and injuring three people.

February 19 - A four-year-old girl was left seriously injured after she was attacked by a suspected XL Bully cross-breed in Carmarthen.
March 18 - A suspected XL Bully was killed by armed police after going on a rampage and injuring four people in Battersea, London. On the same day a three-year-old boy was mauled by a registered XL Bully in Doncaster.
April 9 - A woman was attacked in her home in the Norfolk town of Holt by an XL Bully she was looking after.
April 16 - A suspected XL bully attacked a woman in Blackpool.
April 29 - A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by a bully-type dog in Kelloholm, Dumfriesshire.
May 20 - A woman was mauled to death by her two registered XL Bully dogs in Havering, east London.
May 27 - A five-year-old boy was attacked by an XL Bully in Hull.
May 28 - A 15-year-old boy was attacked by an XL Bully in Caerphilly, South Wales.
June 3 - Man hospitalised with 'life changing' injuries following XL bully attack in Bristol.
June 29 - Woman injured in XL bully attack in Eccles with police forced to open fire on the dog.
July 22 - 10-year-old girl bitten by unregistered XL bully in Doncaster.
September 10 - Four-year-old girl has been attacked by two XL Bullys while playing in the park in Sheffield
September 22 - Mother lucky to escape with her fingers after XL Bully attack in Halsingden.

This is just terrifying. Why should the general public have to live in fear of them? They are a danger, they can't be controlled and they are out on our streets. I would be terrified if I saw one especially with my dc. Why isn't more being done?

To say what you did on this thread with no basis whatsoever as to how it could be remotely relevant to this family, except your alleged experience with "these communities" is really shameful.

Have a word with yourself.

Again, you are not experienced in this matter and don’t know what you are talking about.
Whilst this might not apply to this weekend’s killing, in large with other cases it very much does and the other poster is correct.

mrlistersgelfbride · 05/11/2024 00:44

Terrifying. That poor girl.
This is all happening too regularly.
I'm so scared of my daughter being attacked by one of these dogs at parks or friends houses.
If anyone in my family or friendship circle had one of these they'd not see us again. No exception.

There's a special place in hell for the idiots near where I live who saunter round kiddies playgrounds swigging cans of beer with XL bullies like it's all one big joke.
Get them PTS. The dogs too.

sunbum · 05/11/2024 08:38

latetonews · 04/11/2024 15:20

Most of the XL bullies in England came from the genes of a dog some American idiot owned. The American dogs are not loving family pets.

Yes, did you not read about the case in Georgia where a 6 month old baby was literally pulled in half by the famillies 2 loving XL bullys and toddler sister ripped apart. The first responders are still in counselling apparently. These 2 loving family pets were also decended from that one dog, like most XL Bullys are, including the ones here. Cane corsos will be the next to be inbred for aggression and musculature.

Spondoolies · 05/11/2024 09:06

Cane Corso and presa canaria need to go as well, they have no business being around children

sunbum · 05/11/2024 09:31

Tennesee sorry, not Georgia.

And agreed about Cane Corso and Presa. All bitbull/fighting dog decended breeds and crosses arent safe to have as pets.

NorthernGirlie · 05/11/2024 19:15

The XL next door to us is done in with the fire works going off. I don't usually hear him barking but he is tonight - his owner is shouting at him to "fucking shut up"

He's got papers, goes out in a muzzle etc and she seems to love him but I'm really scared he'll turn on her.

DonnaSummet · 05/11/2024 20:43

There's a man near me who has THREE !! Huge horrible things but he walks them off the lead!!! They absolutely terrify me, However I only see him walking up and down a street which leads to a field, I have NO idea where he lives so how do I report him?? He's about 6 stone too so if the dogs were to turn I really can't see how he would control them, it scares me silly every time I see him and the dogs. The dogs look like the own the street
