To think in ten years all these huge veneers and huge lips will be seriously dated?

Eek, watching tv these days it's a sea of huge symmetrical bright white veneers.
So many of them look like they have got a teeth guard in when they are sucking on them.
Most of them just look really terrible and I dread to think what their long term teeth issues will be.
Add in the huge lips and filler faces and really it's a bit black mirror with all these faces looking the same. I know the lip filler can be dissolved but is that the same for all over the face? Will people be able to go back to how they were before once the filler blindness passes?
I've been watching old movies and the difference with natural teeth is quite something, it changes the natural shape of your face and everyone looks more individual .
Aibu or will it all look so dated in ten years and all these huge horsey veneers go out of fashion?
Or am I just getting old Grin

I had so many antibiotics as a child my two front teeth were striped and crumbling at 20 my dentist put in crowns. They lasted over 30 years. I then had implants, they do look natural, tooth colour matched.

It's amusing to think if archaeologists were to dig us up in the next millennia would our teeth, boobs, bottoms still exist 😊

I've wondered about this. Because surely the skin stretches? So if you don't keep topping it up, would you get saggy lips? Confused

That's what I thought. I've been ever so slightly tempted to plump up my top lip lines (despite never being a smoker) but if I don't keep it up, I'll look like a deflated balloon.

Brucethesharkk · 01/11/2024 22:06

The huge lips have already passed their prime, the current trend is all about making make up etc look natural as possible and lots of “watch me get my filler dissolved” tiktoks where the end result is almost always better than the before.

The obvious fake teeth are also losing traction. I think the people who had their teeth shaved down to nubs in turkey on the cheap are going to have no end of problems in years to come. People who already had very bad teeth I think fair enough, you look better and your confidence will be heightened so worth it, but the youngsters with perfect natural teeth already doing it I think nooooooo what are you doing!

cwcanfo · 01/11/2024 22:06

The teeth look horrendous and underneath the veneers are just little stumps. I have no idea why anyone would go and get that done.
The only option will be to have implants and a full prosthetic because those teeth will be fucked in a few years time.

Echobelly · 01/11/2024 22:08

I'm thinking that a lot of the 'tweakment' faces, whether it be lips or buccal fat removal to hollow out cheeks, you get just this thing where all women look about 35. 19 and have it done? You look 35. 63 and have it done? You look 35. It's odd.

On the other hand, Pamela Anderson, who was the ultimate pneumatic blonde, has had a total make-under & looks great.

Omg she looks amazing

People who Fillers have so many risks people don't think about. For starters, fillers can cause granulomas—little areas of inflammation—when the body tries to fight off the foreign material. And let's not even get into filler migration! You inject it in one place, and a few months later, it could shift somewhere else. 😳
The scary part is the risk of fillers blocking the lymphatic system, causing swelling and potentially impacting drainage. Chronic inflammation from fillers isn't great either since constant immune activation has been linked to higher disease risks in other contexts.
Honestly, it makes you wonder—remember when everyone was obsessed with sunbeds? We all know how that turned out! If anyone's thinking about getting fillers, it’s Not worth the risk.

I think they all look a generic good 42. You look like a hot 42 year old- great when you're 55, not so great when you're 26. The love island women were the perfect example of this!

why are tattoos being brought into this. tattoos aren’t a trend, people have been getting them for years?

Isthisreallyathing · 01/11/2024 22:10

Very often people start off with a tiny bit of Botox and it looks great. They then find after a couple of years they’ve lost a bit of volume (paralysis of muscles will do this) so they start having filler. This then stretches the skin that’s already lost tone around it and it’s then just a cycle they can’t get out of.

Veneers or ‘turkey teeth’ are permanent as the natural teeth are shaved down.

Im some ways it’s like people want a real life filter effect so there isn’t the huge discrepancy between online looks and real life with all the filtering etc . It can look eerie though and ages them in a bizarre way as yes there are less wrinkles etc but it does something that can make people in their twenties appear as if they could be any age from 25-40 (I really noticed this on the last love island I was shocked to learn how young some of the women were yet they looked flawless but not youthful?)

I'm very prepared to be criticised for this post but I saw the photo today of Samantha Jayne Ramsay: the young woman who accused Al Fayad of sexual assault in 1990s. It really moved me. Apart from the anger on her behalf and the sorrow about how what he did to her affected her life I was just so struck by how natural she looked. Not only beautiful but a total individual with no duck pout lips. No artificially whitened teeth. No makeup that made her look like a plastic doll.
I think it's so sad how women these days are pressurised into making themselves all look the same. To look artificial. As though they have come off a production line.

I saw this today. and thought exactly the same thing. A beautiful young woman, natural and vibrant, obviously an old photo but wasn't a bit dated; just normal, timeless.

yukikata · 01/11/2024 22:11

Most filler dissolves in 18 months to 2 years so if they stop having it they will go back to their old selves.

@5128gap When skin has been plumped out, it doesn't necessarily just snap back how it was before. You are left with loose/ sagging skin. (Take weight loss, for example).

Lips that have been plumped out with filler which has then dissolved are probably not going to look very good.

Not at this rate they haven't.
The big lip filler brigade are adding tattoos like there is no tommorow.

Who cares? Let people do what they want 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh, please. When teeth are ground down to pins, there's no way they look natural. Veneers always look like veneers. And fillers? They're a ticking time bomb. They migrate, don’t dissolve fully, and can even block the lymphatic system.
Remember when everyone praised sunbeds? We all saw how that turned out

If veneers are done properly there is minimal tooth taken away. When you see those peg teeth it is usually what someone has done when they go abroad for dental work and it's usually crowns placed not veneers, it is so detrimental to your teeth! Fully imagine a lot will need these "pegs" extracted down the line. And yes they look like a gumshield because usually all stuck together in a row and extremely difficult to keep clean, another reason they'll fail. But even with the best of veneers nothing as good as your own teeth! And I think a slight imperfection in a smile is beautiful.

Mlanket · 01/11/2024 22:16

I think it’s a shame everyone wants to look the same, individuality is attractive.

Coldfinch · 01/11/2024 22:16

@ToriMJ A friend of mine is an aesthetics practitioner (trained nurse) and told me heavy filler use will sag people’s lips and faces. The material stretches and overloads the skin so many clients with overfilled faces will eventually need dissolving and facelifts to escape the sag.

So many people all look the same - deeply unattractive I think but each to their own.

BetterInColour · 01/11/2024 22:17

I work with lots of wealthier young women of a similar age, and they do not have either the Russian lashes or the very white blingy teeth. What they do have is long very well kept hair, natural straightened teeth (braces) and do their make-up more naturally although still plenty of it.

It's fashionable in some circles to have this very artificial look, but even on MAFS, Emma does not have the very white teeth or the ridiculous lashes and hers is the nicest make-up.

I have seen a couple of older women in real-life recently who looked ok from a distance but when I saw them speaking, that was the moment I realised I was not going for the filler look ever. I've made peace with my wrinkles, I need my face to be mobile and look interesting for my job and I feel a lot better letting go any worries about surgery, Botox or filler- I don't want people to get an uncanny valley vibe from me (although I agree a tiny amount of Botox in the 11's doesn't do this). I'm in my mid-fifties.

Most filler dissolves in 18 months to 2 years so if they stop having it they will go back to their old selves. That applies wherever they have the filler. The teeth I think are for good. I've seen pictures of the process and they grind the natural teeth down to put the veneers on so there'd be no going back from that. They'll just have to have crooked, chipped and off white veneers instead if the natural tooth look comes in. I'll be right there for that, ahead of the curve!

MRI studies show that on the contrary it often migrates and/or remains for up to 12 years...

Yeah, I think when you see this work, you just kind of assume someone is over 30 - and there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking over 30, Jesus Christ, 30s is young, but it's odd when women in their 20s have it done because you just sort of think 'This is someone trying really hard not to look over 30, so they're probably over 30'

Mlanket · 01/11/2024 22:19

Some of the teeth are awful, they look like dentures from the 80s on an ageing game show host.

NoisyDenimShaker · 01/11/2024 22:19

Let's face it, the slug eyebrows and duck lips crew are the new chavs! 😂😂😂

bryceQ · 01/11/2024 22:20

I think it's a look in some places but it's not universal. It's very much a "type" of aesthetic.

It's never been my cup of tea... I tend to find I'm going less and less make up as I age too. I prefer the glowy natural look. (With nice skincare)

Manchesteruser · 01/11/2024 22:22

And jet black hair, bushy eyebrows, false lashes and nails.
