To think in ten years all these huge veneers and huge lips will be seriously dated?

Eek, watching tv these days it's a sea of huge symmetrical bright white veneers.
So many of them look like they have got a teeth guard in when they are sucking on them.
Most of them just look really terrible and I dread to think what their long term teeth issues will be.
Add in the huge lips and filler faces and really it's a bit black mirror with all these faces looking the same. I know the lip filler can be dissolved but is that the same for all over the face? Will people be able to go back to how they were before once the filler blindness passes?
I've been watching old movies and the difference with natural teeth is quite something, it changes the natural shape of your face and everyone looks more individual .
Aibu or will it all look so dated in ten years and all these huge horsey veneers go out of fashion?
Or am I just getting old Grin

Even my DD 8 is noticing lip fillers, slug eyebrows etc, it’s depressing.

I just spend every day saying how natural beauty & looking different should be celebrated & I’m happy with my own style/lack of enhancements in the hope it catches on.

The young & gorgeous girl that lives opposite me was telling me all her friends who were avid lip filler/black eyebrow friends are turning their back on it so I live in hope.

Its so nice to see different faces & looks.

And the same hair look and fake tan

And the Kardashian lard arses too. I once worked with someone who had a very prominent derriere and I've often wondered if she is now feeling very up to date, because she hated it, would never where a tight skirt or trousers!

StoneofDestiny · 01/11/2024 21:48

They already look utterly ridiculous

Aposterhasnoname · 01/11/2024 21:48

It looks hideous. The long term issues with veneers doesn’t bare thinking about.

Clingfilm · 01/11/2024 21:48

It is a bit sad how identikit young women (and increasingly men) are looking but I think trends will change and something else will take its place.

My money's on thin 90s eyebrows and big hair being back by 2035...

It's the current caked on make up that bothers me most, I just imagine dirty orange towels and pillow cases.

Blinkingbonkers · 01/11/2024 21:48

I’ve seen a few media reports recently referencing the number of 30 somethings needing facelifts because of stretched skin post fillers. Sooner it goes out of fashion the better.

They've had perfectly healthy teeth shaved down to stumps so that will never ever be the same again. They'll just have to keep having more veneers stuck on there. I don't think some of these people can even floss. They look like boxers gum shields! 🤢

This is what I always wonder about... Basically they've got no teeth left, apart from those tiny vampire-looking pin things. So every eight to ten years or so, they have to spend thousands on a new set of gnashers? Who in the fuck has the money for that, especially with the way the world is going!?

Can anybody who has had this done answer if this worries them?

I was watching the Top of the Pops shows tonight from the 70s - 90s singers like Martika, Cathy Dennis, Debbie Harry etc and was struck by how individual all the women looked. Pretty, natural, lots with shorter hair and their own sense of style. The aesthetic today seems to be blow up sex doll!

It's really Noticeable isn't it. Just seeing individual faces, with natural variation. I love it. So many little striking differences that make someone's look, but today is eroded in search of the uniform same faces look.

Thick black drawn-on eyebrows, thick rubber lips, caked-on makeup, flat centre-parted bleach-blonde hair with tonged waves, veneers, and maybe face filler...they all look EXACTLY the same. The whole look just screams "not very bright." 😂

u3ername · 01/11/2024 21:49

Someone mentioned Rylan. And I respect him for being a hardworking man - he was all over tv at some point- however as soon as he took over It Takes Two I stopped watching as I couldn't understand what he was saying.
I think the way his teeth were done had a negative effect on his speech.

They already look shite, and I think the trend will pass quickly. Last year fake lashes were all the rage, this year they already look dated. My hairdresser who is also trained in beauty said that unless you just get a tiny bit of lip filler, you either have to stick with it forever or lips just look terrible whenever you stop.

My friend who sells Tropic also said that she heard the face collapses when you stop having Botox.

Both women are wrong. The body is incredibly good at healing and believe it or not they go back to their natural shape. Same with the new fillers - not Leslie Ash style filler though.

I agree with the teeth. The older ones will need replacing in ten years and its whether people can afford it. My daughter had hers done in Dubai and they actually look very subtle and lovely, you cant tell - looks like she just had a brace when she was younger. People who get them on the cheap in Turkey are most likely going to regret having them done or maybe they wont! If it suits the wearer - bugger the starer!

RichardOsmansFreakishlyBigHand · 01/11/2024 21:50

Theres only a certain sector of society who want all the fakery and turkey teeth. Noveau rich or pondlife or both basically.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 01/11/2024 21:51

Probably. But I had a perm, skinny eyebrows that have never recovered. I try not to sound like my mother to my kids.

ToriMJ · 01/11/2024 21:51

The cakes on, layer upon layer upon layer of makeup is another bugbear. That 'perfect' look where skin has no texture or god forbid imperfection. Glowy on camera but it must look absolutely dreadful in the flesh.

Hopefully. What would have been the equivalent 10 or 15 years ago? Boob jobs? They do seem less of a thing now.

Most filler dissolves in 18 months to 2 years so if they stop having it they will go back to their old selves. That applies wherever they have the filler. The teeth I think are for good. I've seen pictures of the process and they grind the natural teeth down to put the veneers on so there'd be no going back from that. They'll just have to have crooked, chipped and off white veneers instead if the natural tooth look comes in. I'll be right there for that, ahead of the curve!

Yep! People actually destroy their perfectly good teeth for veneers. And they don't last forever, have to be replaced along the way, and every time you do, the teeth get grinded down a bit more. Absolutely mind-boggling that people choose 'turkey teeth' for permanent underlying teeth.

Gowlett · 01/11/2024 21:53

It looks terrible, whether young or old.

Kylie Jenner, young = Michael Jackson
Tulisa, young-ish = blow-up doll

Jennifer Aniston, middle-aged = why??
Michael Jackson, good-looking = tragic

All blonde Love Island types = the same
Same with the blokes. Joey Essex = no!

TheHateIsNotGood · 01/11/2024 21:54

Me, as a teenage punk in the 1970s, I feel I can't be too judgemental, but merely await the next phase of 'beauty' to behold.

Isn't that what the young are s'pposed to do? Like shock the staid, set in our ways older ones? Or like maybe, yunno, try and look younger than what we is?

After all, who on earth were we 70s punks trying to set straight but the survivors of a massive world war who kept schtum and quiet after their maelstrom. Just like the survivors of the WW1 horrors did before them.

Can't wait for the saggy, lined and experience-told face to catch hold again. I believe at one time the aged 'face' held a bit of cachet.

pavementgerms · 01/11/2024 21:54

So many people on MN claim that "no one can tell" when they have lip filler (which begs the question, why do it). You can tell, and it never looks good.

Oh, please. When teeth are ground down to pins, there's no way they look natural. Veneers always look like veneers. And fillers? They're a ticking time bomb. They migrate, don’t dissolve fully, and can even block the lymphatic system.
Remember when everyone praised sunbeds? We all saw how that turned out

The difference is, lots of these people are claiming they've had nothing done. That and TikTok filters make younger people feel that their appearance is "wrong" and needs fixing.

Gowlett · 01/11/2024 21:57

On the other hand, Pamela Anderson, who was the ultimate pneumatic blonde, has had a total make-under & looks great.

Oh, I was holding back. Not only do these identikit girls with their duck lips and slug eyebrows look incredibly thick, they also look extremely lower-class!

TheHateIsNotGood · 01/11/2024 22:00

@pavementgerms . But what do they do when there's a power cut? They still have the same face, yet nowhere but reality to show it.
