To think in ten years all these huge veneers and huge lips will be seriously dated?

Eek, watching tv these days it's a sea of huge symmetrical bright white veneers.
So many of them look like they have got a teeth guard in when they are sucking on them.
Most of them just look really terrible and I dread to think what their long term teeth issues will be.
Add in the huge lips and filler faces and really it's a bit black mirror with all these faces looking the same. I know the lip filler can be dissolved but is that the same for all over the face? Will people be able to go back to how they were before once the filler blindness passes?
I've been watching old movies and the difference with natural teeth is quite something, it changes the natural shape of your face and everyone looks more individual .
Aibu or will it all look so dated in ten years and all these huge horsey veneers go out of fashion?
Or am I just getting old Grin

What a disgusting thread.

The horror of looking "lower class" and "chavvy".

Well, who wants to look lower class and chavvy? I certainly don't! I want to look as refined and tasteful as possible! (Which doesn't have to be expensive. Less is more, and Maybelline will do just fine; doesn't have to be Charlotte Tilbury.)

Sorry- to add- women have fought for the right to do things for themselves and you’d think we’d come a long way…

Yet here’s 12 pages full of (presumably) women trying to tear others to shreds for having a different idea of what makes them feel good. Nice.

I would love to see a pic of the women on this thread who are getting overly emotionally invested in what other women look like.
I don't like the look either, but some of the comments on here are disgusting. Alot of them are clearly old enough to know better! You hate it, okay? No need to rip young girls apart and bring class into it. You are showing yourself to be ugly, on the inside at least, which is far worse than some blown up lips.

Agreed. It's absolutely revolting and pathetic. It reeks of insecurity too. Anyway, fuck this thread and all those who sneer on it. I'm out of here.

I think most young people look so much nicer with their natural features. People zoom in on one feature - say, thin lips - and decide it needs to be different. But most often, it suits their face the way it is naturally.

With all this overtly fake stuff around - fake eyebrows, fake lips, fake eyelashes, thick makeup - it's actually easier to stand out from the crowd by looking fresh and natural, and by doing far less! The looks we've been discussing must be very time-intensive, not to mention costly.

I blame social media with its filters and pneumatically filled influencers.

Remember when Friends was in its second season, everyone knew about it by then, and everyone thought the women were gorgeous and none of them had trout pout? They all looked like individuals.

I disagree. Their mothers should be helping them look refined, not cheap. It's not just a matter of preference, like red hair versus brunette, it's a look that is recognised in our culture as lower-class. And who wants to look like that? If they don't get it, someone should show them. They should all come to Noisy's School for Refination! 😂

I'm a woman but why shouldn't I comment on what other women look like? Why should I be nice about other women, whatever age or class they are?
I stand by any woman's choice to look however she wants, but they need to be aware that certain looks are going to invite comment and the lip filler and veneers look is one of those.
Age and class are inextricably intertwined with certain aesthetics and it's absolutely true that overly filled lips, bright white veneers, heavy fake tan etc are much more represented in young women of the lower classes.

Oh no, imagine looking lower class, how awful it must be to look like a completely normal social class.

We must have different definitions of normal. To me, normal for a young person is no filler.

Shame on you thin lippers for firstly emulating fuller lips that are a natural endowment and often an ethnic feature for some of us, and then spitefully and hypocritically turning around to demean and mock what we have!

You can never be us that are born this way, no matter what you inject 💋 I'm sorry for you 😄 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋

It’s not about insecurity.

Insecurity is grinding your perfect teeth down for veneers. They look stupid. They really do. As many other unnecessary changes to your face. Some are dangerous, and it will be a future problem for many. It’s good to talk about it.

The virtue-signallers know all that full well, but their smugness and disingenuity keeps them warm at night!

So many people acting as if they can't see the difference between Bet Lynch and Marion Cotillard!

Watched a film last night called the testament of youth .The lead actress was so naturally beautiful in such a simple uncluttered way that young girls are. No need for all the fakery it’s so sad really.

Omg I wondered what would happen when it does,I have a friend who went from normal small lips to massive over blown looking ones she gets her cheeks filled also I told her to stop it's way OTT but she won't and I said what happens when you can't afford it or get fed up does your face sag way down and your lips but she said it gets dissolved and shel be fine I personally don't see how with the amount of filler she's had.

ForPearlViper · 02/11/2024 21:23

What I hope will be dated, and indeed die out, is women slagging off other women for their fashion choices, with includes body related fashion choices. I am now in my 60s and it has being going all my life and I strongly suspect long before. Social media has made is worse as a whole pile of people can pile on anonymously.

Aren't there a whole load of things women should be appalled by in this world without picking on other women who have chosen to fill in their eyebrows in a colour of which you don't approve?

Mumsnet makes me despair with the small-mindedness of the opinions. If only the energy spent in slagging off other people was spent on trying to make the world a better place..... Shouldn't it be about women supporting all women?

That's worrying that you think it is okay for your dcs to imitate others, each to their own.

YANBU OP

I caught the end of Big Brother the other night and some of the housemates actually had teeth so white, they looked 'blue' 😳

Fluorescent tombstones is my name for them! I remember way back there used to be lighting in clubs etc which caused white shirts to glow, I wonder what it would do to these teeth?

fashionqueen0123 · 02/11/2024 21:37

Well it makes people look a lot older for a start. It’s very odd seeing women in their 20s looking like women in their 50s who’ve had a dodgy face lift or something. I don’t get why you’d aim for that.

I doubt the poster needs much lipstick, because her lips sound full and beautiful, no need for overlining and fakery.

I'm 60 and have never yet been given a good reason why I should support all other women, simply because they are women. That seems ridiculous to me. Being a woman doesn't mean that I would automatically support the choices of half the population. There are plenty of awful women around whose lifestyle and life choices are completely opposite to mine, I don't see any reason why I should support them. If they've made choices to do with their body eg fillers, Botox, tattoos and I think they look awful, why shouldn't I say so.

This is definitely true and it can vary even within towns a few miles apart.
I recently went to the opticians and somehow got talking about this very subject. She is based in a pretty well off area but had to spend some time working in a much poorer place about ten miles away( more up the South Wales valleys), she said there was a huge increase in the number of women there with obvious lip filler, fake tan, long pointed patterned nails etc.

How can they afford these treatments?
