To think in ten years all these huge veneers and huge lips will be seriously dated?

Eek, watching tv these days it's a sea of huge symmetrical bright white veneers.
So many of them look like they have got a teeth guard in when they are sucking on them.
Most of them just look really terrible and I dread to think what their long term teeth issues will be.
Add in the huge lips and filler faces and really it's a bit black mirror with all these faces looking the same. I know the lip filler can be dissolved but is that the same for all over the face? Will people be able to go back to how they were before once the filler blindness passes?
I've been watching old movies and the difference with natural teeth is quite something, it changes the natural shape of your face and everyone looks more individual .
Aibu or will it all look so dated in ten years and all these huge horsey veneers go out of fashion?
Or am I just getting old Grin

Most filler dissolves in 18 months to 2 years so if they stop having it they will go back to their old selves. That applies wherever they have the filler. The teeth I think are for good. I've seen pictures of the process and they grind the natural teeth down to put the veneers on so there'd be no going back from that. They'll just have to have crooked, chipped and off white veneers instead if the natural tooth look comes in. I'll be right there for that, ahead of the curve!

Not true with lip filler. If you have large amounts of lip filler it stretches the skin so when you don't have filler in them anymore the skin can be saggy and loose.

There aren't that many people I know with lipfillers/veneers but the rise in younger people having large tattoos has definately increased and as a previous poster stated, except for the Swedish study - there s very little evidence on its safety.

Tattoos are very trendy atm. On a recent sun holiday - there were only a very few inkless young people around. I've cared for lots of older people and i often chat about their tattoos (Im medical and ill spark up any conversation during procedures). I like the artistry of some tattoos, however most older people respond with how they regret them.

I think many tattoos look nice but I think the level its at atm is also a trend which will be over soon

Check out the turkey teeth videos to see the work that is done. I'm not talking about the normal veneers done by reputable uk dentists.

Ah. Should have realised that you only meant the Turkey teeth.

As a 40+ year old women my mouth is far sexier than any younger women's mouth I've seen who's had their mouth augmented. I also look younger and more attractive due to having good genes and not one bit of work done! None of these women pumping themselves with fillers will look attractive when they hit 40+

Come on then, load a picture of ya gob.

It seems to differ by regions of the UK too. I notice it much more in some places than others (I don't dare to say where).

We had a spate of mums coming into parents’ evenings with lip fillers etc.

Turned out that the local dentist was doing it.

Since lockdown, I’ve had to fill in a questionnaire prior to each appointment. There’s always a query as to whether I’m interested in fillers.

Tintackedsea · 02/11/2024 16:34

I met an ex pupil recently and I was so shocked when I saw her. Such a beautiful girl only three years ago. She was barely recognisable with the lips. And maybe something with her cheeks? Is that a thing too? Any girl on my year at school would have killed to look as she did. I don't understand why she has warped her face like that.

I said they LOOK thick and lower-class, not that they are! Read!

What’s your definition of lower-class?

I believe they are more interested in doing that, which is why we can't get regular appointments. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Agree that it could be regional, don’t really see it where I am in East Anglia. I only really notice it when visiting big cities elsewhere.

TamborineGal · 02/11/2024 17:00

Way back in time didn't Cher have some lower ribs removed to cinch her waistline???? Allegedly.

I've seen this look loads in Norwich and Ipswich pubs/clubs.

I think they all look a generic good 42. You look like a hot 42 year old- great when you're 55, not so great when you're 26. The love island women were the perfect example of this!

I agree. The 24 year old looked about 15 years older than my 24 year old DD. One of the Love Island participants had had so much work done on her teeth and lips that she couldn't even close her mouth!

Interestingly, I don't think the fashion for spider eyelashes and lip fillers is declining where I live. More young girls than ever are favouring the trout pout and heavy eyelash look.

They all look like clones of Pete Burns funnily enough ...

They look like clones of Daisy Duck carved from mahogany!

DancingintheSpoonlight · 02/11/2024 18:58

Goodness…let’s hope it falls out of fashion to do things that don’t affect anyone else to ourselves to make ourselves feel good!

Would much rather spend my time on a pedestal looking down on those making themselves look more whispers lower class

DancingintheSpoonlight · 02/11/2024 19:00

Sorry- to add- women have fought for the right to do things for themselves and you’d think we’d come a long way…

Yet here’s 12 pages full of (presumably) women trying to tear others to shreds for having a different idea of what makes them feel good. Nice.

mustardrarebit · 02/11/2024 19:01

They are definitely on their way out with the younger generation. My 7 and 11 year old kids dressed up for Halloween with bad hair extensions, fake nails, lashes, tan, caterpillar eyebrows, overlined lips and OTT makeup. They even practiced the walk and talk (IYKYK). If kids this age are taking the piss out of 20 somethings, then I have hope a less horrible look will come back sooner rather than later. BTW they were hilarious and the comments from some of the people who answered their doors were priceless. One said "Oh, you've come dressed a kid from School (a nearby school with TikTok kids hanging around local bus stops).

Auburngal · 02/11/2024 19:08

These bright white teeth which actually glow in the dark and over botoxed lips are horrible.

My teeth are stained, got half a tooth missing on a premolar - was quoted £3100 to get it fixed. No I rather have a bottle of gin every other day for the next year!

I also think tattoos may not be popular. Do people have tramp stamps now? People had them done about 20 years ago and regent them.

Auburngal · 02/11/2024 19:09

It’s the fake lashes that look like you have 20 spiders’ legs on them are tacky

NoisyDenimShaker · 02/11/2024 19:45

Forgot to add quote.

YouAreOne · 02/11/2024 19:52

I have a friend who I grew up with, she shared some photos of her 18yo daughter recently, I remember her as a gorgeous baby.

I felt genuinely gutted to see photos of her at 18 on insta. She's had lips blown up and eyebrows tattooed. She looks horrific. I was genuinely shocked. A gorgeous young girl has ruined her face with filler and dark eyebrow tattoos.

Obviously I didn't say anything, but it's terrifying. Sure in the 90s we over plucked our eyebrows and I had green hair and wore ripped dodgy fishnets. But the way young women are doing permanent damage to their faces freaks me out.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 02/11/2024 10:58

No need to be a misogynistic twat though, that's really not a good look for any woman.

Nothing misogynistic about pointing out the difference between a refined aesthetic and a lower-class one. I'd say the same about men covered in tattoos and wearing jeans below their bums, but the thread isn't about that. Looking like a chav is certainly not limited to women.

TheWorminLabyrinth · 02/11/2024 09:23

What a disgusting thread.

The horror of looking "lower class" and "chavvy".

Oh come on, you incorrigible virtue-signaller. Don't pretend you can't see the difference between Waynetta and Kate Middleton's presentation. And you don't have to have her money to present with natural makeup and non-tarty clothes.

See my reply above to WorminLabyrinth. I expect you'll have a nice smug sleep tonight after your daily virtue-signal.
