Women being nasty/body shaming other women

Ive just seen an article in the Daily Mail with a headline intending to body shame.
It really angers me.
I know everyone says what do you expect from journalists especially something like the Daily Mail.
But seriously in this day and age with so much focus on being kind and issues surrounding peoples mental health you would think this horrible attitude would stop.

The article is about Lauren from Only way is Essex and is clearly written in a way for people to mock her. Its so nasty especially as Lauren has spoken up only recently about how low she feels.

The fact that its another woman doing this for some reason makes me feel even angrier.

Ive posted the article on here just to show how awful journalists are and hope that Journalists like this will eventually be called out and cancelled.

@MartinCrieffsLemon absolutely. However i disagree with what you are saying.
Im sorry if you feel i am being abusive in any way.
That is not my intention. I feel that way about the way you are speaking to me.
That is why I've said to you a few times now lets agree to disagree. But for some reason you want to keep on going at me with the same accusations.

Let's just leave it and agree to disagree.

Absolutely nothing anyone has said to you has been abusive but you have:
Made several snarky comments about 3 of us being the same person
Relentlessly insisted this journalist, who you have said deserves to be "called out and canceller" next to her SM details, deserve the abuse she may get
Made comments which could be interpreted as you being quite nasty about Lauren

Stop just trying to shut down discussion with "let's agree to disagree" and maybe try and do some self reflection

Autumnlovelove · 02/11/2024 11:51

@MartinCrieffsLemon I've notrelentlessly said the journalist should be caught out.

Im trying to shut down the conversation because you seem to be gunning for an argument.

If we can agree to disagree then i think that is reasonable.
You do not have to agree with what ive said and i dont have to agree with you.

Lets just leave it at that 🙂

@MartinCrieffsLemon
I have also not said anything nasty about Lauren Quite the opposite.

But anyway as i've said we can agree to disagree as we obviously have different views and opinions.

I highly recommend you ask MNHQ to delete this thread for you. It's not doing what you originally wanted, you are arguing with everyone who disagrees with you (most of the pp), and now you are accusing others of being sock puppets which is 1) against MN rules hence your deletion and 2) impossible to do since they've put in certain tech changes. I'm sure MNHQ will be very happy to delete.

No im not arguing with anyone who disagrees with me. Im responding back to people who accuse me of something i haven't done and keep going at me.

Im happy to leave the thread up. As ive said countless times people can agree to disagree.

You're never going to understand any of it
I don't know why you bothered posting other than to make people be mean to the journalist (but you'll never acknowledge that)

Give it a rest.
For some reason you want to go on and on.
You are obsessed with this whole journalist thing and getting this post taken down.
Maybe you know her personally or work in the same media circles as her ( a lot of journalists come on Mumsnet to get stories).
I dont know.
Whatever it is you need to stop.

You just need to accept we have a difference of opinion and can agree to disagree.

I don't know her from Eve
That doesn't mean I should be OK with her being turned into some pariah, hounded for writing an article which was probably requested by the subject anyway and for a tag line to the article which she didn't write
It doesn't mean I'm ok with her name and picture being put out there with an obvious attempt to incite people to shame and attack her.

It's not agreeing to disagree. You don't want to accept you were wrong, although you started to and then apparently decided not to. Multiple people have told you she didn't write the tagline and was probably writing an article encouraged by Lauren herself which doesn't meantion her appearance once yet you have decided she is being vile and abusive and dragging a woman down and "deserves" any abuse

You are a huge hypocrite and I think the thread should be taken down for the fact it is clearly designed to attach the journalist

Autumnlovelove · 02/11/2024 16:01

I do t accept im wrong because i dont think i am. Just like you dont think you are. That is why it is best to agree to.

The journalists name is on the article and out in the public already.
She has not been turned in a pariah.
Ive said journalists like her should be called out and cancelled for body shaming women.

Her name is on the article so she is ultimately responsible for it. Simple as that.

Your concern should be for women like Lauren who are constantly ridiculed and shamed . Not for some journalist who is quite happy to put her name to an article that is designed to get people to laugh and make snide comments at a young mother out with her child.

The fact that you can not accept we have a difference of opinions and leave it at that is your issue.

Of course you want the thread taken down - that is your whole aim.

The question is why? Why are so concerned about protecting and advocating for this journalist?

Of course you wont leave it there because you are desperate to be proved 'right'.

If you are genuine in your concern for LG and women treated like her, you need to see the big picture. Gunning for a journalist just because she's a woman will achieve precisely zero in terms of protection for women. Even if your best hopes were realised (they won't be) and on the back of your thread you had got a witch hunt going against this one woman, if she was 'cancelled' surely you know another would replace her? The problem is not going to be solved by appointing yourself judge jury and executioner of one woman and desperately trying to gen up support for that. People on the thread either think you're wrong about her, or don't care about her anyway, because the problem is far bigger than one woman, and those who want to protect other woman know that and prefer to discuss that.

Autumnlovelove · 02/11/2024 16:47

@5128gap maybe.
