Women being nasty/body shaming other women

Ive just seen an article in the Daily Mail with a headline intending to body shame.
It really angers me.
I know everyone says what do you expect from journalists especially something like the Daily Mail.
But seriously in this day and age with so much focus on being kind and issues surrounding peoples mental health you would think this horrible attitude would stop.

The article is about Lauren from Only way is Essex and is clearly written in a way for people to mock her. Its so nasty especially as Lauren has spoken up only recently about how low she feels.

The fact that its another woman doing this for some reason makes me feel even angrier.

Ive posted the article on here just to show how awful journalists are and hope that Journalists like this will eventually be called out and cancelled.

@DontCallMeKidDontCallMeBaby i am absolutely frustrated at men as well. But this article was written by a woman. I think its worse when a woman body shames as we all understand how judged we are by men and society.

But again, the article doesn’t mention her body. The link mentions her appearance. Your lack of media literacy meant that you didn’t understand that it wasn’t written by the reporter, now you do. So we have no idea who male or female wrote it. The only body shaming comments that you’ve posted can be attributed to men in the comments. We need to stop holding women accountable for men’s bad behaviour.

Autumnlovelove · 01/11/2024 16:48

Well the reporters name is on it so I'm going to call her out. She shouldn't put her name to it if its not how she intended the article to come across

Not the men who actually said the bad things though eh? Couldn’t possibly be their fault. Poor lambs, being led astray and forced to say awful things, by that pesky woman.

HausofHolbein · 01/11/2024 16:56

Anyone who doesn't see this article for what it is, is either spectacularly naive or blind.

Autumnlovelove · 01/11/2024 16:56

@DontCallMeKidDontCallMeBaby what are you on about???
A lady wrote the article!!!

A women's worst enemy is another woman. The most judgmental opinions are from other women. Just like you have done op.

How on earth can women being judgemental about other women make them worse enemies than men, with the things men do to women? And if you think that it's only women who judge women's appearance...well, I don't know where to start with that one.

DontCallMeKidDontCallMeBaby · 01/11/2024 17:15

I’m ‘on about’ the comments you posted to demonstrate how awful the article was. The ones by men? You screenshot and shared them. The people who actively commented on her body were men. The title of your post was why do ‘women’ say nasty things etc. Even your own posts demonstrated that this was an ‘everyone’ issue. I was questioning why you were so fixated on ‘women’ being awful, when your own posts show the men behaving worse.

This could have been a thread about how the media manipulates us into thinking certain things (eg how you assumed that the ‘looking good’ was negative, because Lauren doesn’t meet your standards of attractive). Or how the tone of an article dictates the comment section.

But now it’s turned into a strange vendetta against the journalist, who I suspect you have issues with on real life. There was absolutely no reason to share her contact details. I can only presume you did that in the hope people would get in touch with her. Why?

Jazzabel · 01/11/2024 17:19

It’s hate baiting. Even though the article doesn’t mention anything negative about her it’s deliberately been put out there to attract clicks and nasty comments. They know many people don’t like her. Also, as a woman with a massive arse, I would not be happy if someone put an unflattering picture taken of me from behind like that. It was probably chosen as one of the less nicer pics they could have used. It’s very mean girl. Newspapers tend to do this since Caroline Flack. They won’t put out negative stuff about people themselves, but leave the comments open for the bullying trolls to do it for them.

Autumnlovelove · 01/11/2024 17:21

@DontCallMeKidDontCallMeBaby seriously i dont know the journalist.

Here are some comments by women as well ok?

The article was written by a woman which is why i was talking about women and trying to body shame other women.

I posted the comments (men and woman) to show that they also felt the article was intended to be nasty. I wasnt trying to post the 'horrible' comments but i will post some of those as well so you are satisfied.

@Autumnlovelove oh, people can be awful. I don’t dispute that. People, men and women. And if you’ve achieved your goal, you’ll have sent a fair few of them to the journalists inbox.

One of the reasons that misogyny is still so prevalent, is that it pits women against each other. The article is a good example of that. However, so are posts saying things like ‘why do women….’, when men are doing exactly the same thing. Instead of why are people doing this / why do we as a society still accept this etc, you’ve made it women against women. We absolutely should notice things like this article. But we need to be able to see it on ourselves too. Especially if we’re going to attempt to send a baying mob to someone’s email.

I know men do the same thing - they are even worse.
But i am specifically talking about women because this article is written by a woman. We as women know how judged we are and how men view us. Which is when a woman does it i feel it is even worse as we should stick together.

and in the spirit of ‘sticking together’ you’ve provided an email address so that we as women can collectively tell this journalist just how awful she is?

Autumnlovelove · 01/11/2024 17:43

@DontCallMeKidDontCallMeBaby yes because of her behaviour not because of the way she looks!!!

I couldn't see the email address but there's a Twitter handle.

and you could have absolutely emailed her. But I’m curious how trying to start an email hate train (of people who’d have never seen the article if you hadn’t shared it) is in anyway proportionate.

Exactly this. The faux naivety on this thread is funny. It is absolutely obvious what the intent behind this article was.

Are you saying they are sock puppets? Because that is false since MN have put procedures in place to make name changing on a thread impossible to do.

If you doubt that then contact MN and report.

OP is never going to get the irony of what she's doing.
And because more than one of us thinks so, we must be the same person

If you look at page 1, she almost gets it. And then she retracts it and begins to be very open about her hate campaign against the journalist
