To be tired of clothes shops selling so many brands other than their own

Does anyone else get sick of visiting the website of a shop they like only to find a search for anything brings up all kinds of random brands like Long Tall Sally, Mountain Warehouse and Roman. I know you can filter but it’s really tiresome when actually you just want Next or M&S or whoever clothes. I wish it wasn’t a thing now 🙄

B&q is awful for this. They have an absolute excess of stuff in any search I do . And I can’t work out which is decent quality . I just want to search for actual b&q stuff I can get in the shop. I tried searching for a mirror the other day and was overwhelmed with all the options

It also means i get given too many choices. Say i filter for girls tshirts. There'll be 100.

I can't be arsed to trawl through so many that i just abandon it and don't buy anything

I'd have thought that M&S and Next would have realised that the way to increase sales is to make their website work for time poor middle aged women who know what they want and are willing to spend a bit more on good quality basics as long as they can find them quickly as opposed to young people happy to scroll all day browsing hundreds of fast fashion pieces.

This! I have loads of money. I am time poor. I would buy high margin items.

I cannot be arsed to hunt through all the crap so simply don't buy.

I just went to the M&S site on my phone. Selected lingerie and nightwear. 'M&S Collection' was literally the first option under the brand filter. Selected 'Pyjamas' under the category filter. Result: a perfectly manageable length list of M&S PJs which could be filtered further by style, colour, size, sleeve length, etc.

Also, combining the "Pyjamas" filter with "Autograph" brand produces... one pair of PJs, Autograph brand.

Well, I've just tried exactly that and it doesn't work on my iPad or iPhone. There is no M&S Collection in my brand list.

I also agree it's too much. I think it takes away the "inspiration" you want when window shopping for something new. I think it also cheapens nicer high street brands because you can compare so many metrics. Think it's fine for basic clothes but makes it less enjoyable for nice clothes.

It's a lot more difficult if there is a lot of stuff, shopping on those silly apps, I always use the websites on an iMac as it's a lot bigger and the filters are all there, maybe if people are shopping on phones it doesn't add to the shopping experience

ZippyDoodle · 01/11/2024 18:29

No M&S Collection here....

Never had any trouble at all with the M &S filters for just M&S or the brands i'm interested in.

DreadPirateRobots · 01/11/2024 18:40

I just checked the filters on an iPhone and the view is exactly the same. You need the filter panel at the top of the main shopping screen, not the A-Z of brands.

Yes, that did finally work.

However, if I click on Nightwear & Pyjamas from the main page then filter on Brands there is no M&S Collection in the list. Other Brands are on there.

I did a screenshot of the Brands page to prove it's not on that page as well. It's hit and miss depending on which way you view it.
