To be tired of clothes shops selling so many brands other than their own

Does anyone else get sick of visiting the website of a shop they like only to find a search for anything brings up all kinds of random brands like Long Tall Sally, Mountain Warehouse and Roman. I know you can filter but it’s really tiresome when actually you just want Next or M&S or whoever clothes. I wish it wasn’t a thing now 🙄

I agree. I want to look at the brand I asked for.

That’s odd. I was on the Next website 5 mins ago, LTS popped up and I thought “No, I only want Next.”

Are you reading my mind OP?

PickAChew · 31/10/2024 22:37

Doesn't bother me. It's only clothes and sometimes I appreciate being able to easily try out a brand for fit from a store I have local to me rather than an unknown quantity in terms of delivery and returns.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 31/10/2024 22:38

I read the title of this thread and thought "Next".

Maarva · 31/10/2024 22:44

Next and M&S are the absolute worst for this. It’s just too random getting loads of different brands at once. Sainsbury’s has started it too.

Yes same! I was thinking this the other day as well. Just so odd. Why do we need all these websites when most of them are just selling stuff from each other?

Me too. Although M&S is getting bad for this too.
Next website is just ridiculous now far too much stuff and can’t find anything.

HappyHappyy · 31/10/2024 22:46

Agreed, I love Warehouse but it's a one stop shop for Dorothy Perkins now

EliCopter · 31/10/2024 22:46

M&S is the worst for this. So stupid, they had a strong USP

GellerYeller · 31/10/2024 22:46

H and M! Logging on for some reasonably priced teen basics, and presented with all their premium brands!

Fillyfrog · 31/10/2024 22:52

Yes I hate this. Used to be next was the worst now I find sainsburys just as bad.

I always go on and filter by brand and just choose next or tu now.

countdown64 · 31/10/2024 22:52

I love it! So easy to order and pick up Gap clothing, for example, at local Next store, and also to take returns there. It's easy to search by the brand you want on the m and s website.

Needmorelego · 31/10/2024 22:57

It's because so many department stores have gone bust/closed branches down and these clothing brands would have sold there.
They presumably don't sell enough to have stand alone stores so they sell via other retailers.

DreadPirateRobots · 31/10/2024 22:58

Filter by brand, then. It's easy enough to do.

SlugLettuce · 31/10/2024 23:01

You can filter by brand in your search. I don’t mind this as I don’t keep up much with the high street and tend to come across things I like but wouldn’t necessarily know to look for iyswim but I’m right with you on LTS which always seems to pop up for me when I’m a 5’5 size 6 and don’t have the willowy limbs necessary to ever be a target customer. Grin

DottyDodger · 31/10/2024 23:01

Yes. Next.

Type in 'black dress' to the search bar and have to sift through 20,000 results. Stopped shopping with them because it drove me mad.

Agree. I loved Miss Selfridge for example but now only seem able to find it on Asos so assume they have gone through.

Nameinspirationneeded · 31/10/2024 23:04

I get annoyed because the filters don’t work and well. M&S have short length. Some of brands they stock have petite but search is really bad. If I’m in trousers why can’t I filter by size and then length or petite?

theotherplace · 31/10/2024 23:06

M&S are bad for this. I always click on something that I like and then see it's actually by jaeger and it's £200 or something

GirlOverboard123 · 31/10/2024 23:06

It's so annoying. I miss being able to shop on Tu Clothing and seeing only Tu Clothing items. Now I go on, click on jumpers, then have to filter by brand, then click on handbags, then have to filter by brand, then click on sale, then have to filter by brand. It might seem like a very minor problem, but it's so tiresome!

Begsthequestion · 31/10/2024 23:09

Filter by Brand > choose Next

Ok I see there are issues with the filter too.

LizzoBennett · 31/10/2024 23:12

I like it. If I get a Next gift card, then I know I'll have plenty of decent options. It's easy enough to filter black dresses down further by length/occasion/sleeve/materials. I guess it's good for people that know what they like and want rather than people that like to browse.

Diaryfear · 31/10/2024 23:12

No, I like the fact that I can get other brands easily delivered for collection at Next or M&S

ZippyDoodle · 31/10/2024 23:12

Yes!

I did a search on M&S yesterday and got about 5000 results for about 50 brands. So bloody annoying. I can't be bothered to wade through it all.

Are they becoming a department store? I used to love M&S. Just wish they would stop trying to reinvent the wheel and go back to what they were good at (which does not involve cheap polyester shit).

DreamTheMoors · 31/10/2024 23:14

More brands, more choices, more sales, more money would be my guess.
That it makes it more difficult for the customer “is not our problem,” would be my guess as well.
