It's 3pm and already we've had people trick n treating. I've now brought pumpkins inside until 5ish. Anyone else?

Cause I can't put up with the dog going mad, these kids weren't tiny. I'll put um back out in a hour.

Perhaps you need to state a child height limit as well as specific times? 😳

Why on earth did you think that a thread titled, "It's only 3pm and the doors already knocking" would be happy?

It's obvious from the title that the OP thinks that 3pm is too early. And lots of people (including me) agree - it's daylight, and lots of people will still be working at 3pm.

Knocking on people's doors in the middle of the working day is a pretty thoughtless thing to do. That person might be perfectly happy to give out sweets at 5.30pm, but isn't going to be happy that you've just interrupted their client call.

In total fairness to @butterpuffed I thought the title "It's only 3pm and the doors already knocking" meant that spooky things were already happening with the OP's doors, so I too thought it would be a cheery Halloween thread 😁

murasaki · 31/10/2024 17:06

Who knew trick or treating was a human right.

It is a bit cheeky to abandon your own house, so not give put anything, and then travel to another area to get free sweets.

Sparxdislike · 31/10/2024 17:09

I left it so late I couldn't find a pumpkin! I like rurally and couldn't believe they are sold out 😬 I do have sweets and have made party bag style goody bags up. Oops. It's been a full on week of illness etc 🙈 crept up on us. I have done a sign so hopefully will work and improvised a bit.

Joycedelight · 31/10/2024 17:09

We are rural and have driven to another village. Everyone does. I'd love for children to come to mine so I can give out sweets but that doesn't happen.
DS doesn't even eat sweets but goes for the social and dressing up aspect.

Toastandbutterand · 31/10/2024 17:09

Just had my first few!

I think 3 is very early too.

And if you must know! Yes you have struck a nerve…the house I’m living at is rented! I had no choice but to take this house as it was the only one in the area that meant I didn’t have to completely uproot my dc when I split from their dad! So I didn’t have much of a choice in the matter! They are still entitled to have a Halloween. You are being so obtuse!

Loads of people rent so I don't know why you bought that up

So I should sit here all evening and wait for my no callers??

Such angst over a couple of bags of sweets that cost a couple of quid each. Either take part or don’t. No need to be such a mertle about it all.

This! This thread is mental 🤣 Particularly the replies to @Positivenancy - my god!! How dare you live too rurally for trick or treaters🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Enjoy your trick or treating, I personally hope your DC have a great time!!

Perfect to go put doesn't mean perfect to arrive at someone's door.

Mine were out this morning ! But only doing the shops because I don't like them to knock on peoples door.

BabyCloud · 31/10/2024 17:12

Ten past 5 and we’ve only had the door knock once. Our kitchen window is decorated for Halloween with pumpkins and fairy lights etc so the little ones know it’s OK to knock.

I brought it up because it was literally the only house I could get meaning I didn’t choose to be out here where I have no trick r treaters…that was my point.

Snowpatrolling · 31/10/2024 17:13

I’m going out at 6 and have 25 party bags ready!
Want them to come now!!
if I still have left overs I’ll leave them out! Only had 3 kids so far.

Parry5timesbeforedeath · 31/10/2024 17:13

I am so annoyed. We finally had our first one and DS1 was downstairs when they knocked and opened it up and threw handfuls of sweets at them them shut the door,

I was in the loo and flipping missed it.

IstillloveKingThistle · 31/10/2024 17:13

It’s pissing me off this year! I’ve just had a big operation, come out of hospital yesterday and my husband and son are more preoccupied with that than caring for me.
sorry for the rant . But priorities and all that.

I mean 😢

@dreamer24 thank you. Calling into one friend on the way, her dc are gluten free so I’ll drop some goodies in for them!

What do you want them to do sing you a song do you a dance. If their getting up to get the door so you can relax I'd be happy with that

Mine were out in a group (I went with them) with a non verbal autistic teen as well who is 17 and some people did say "you boys are too big" until he started making noises jumping around 🤣.. so they did get some sweets after all. Only shops though because I think people would get scared of big boys showing up dressed like monsters.

BabyCloud · 31/10/2024 17:20

I wouldn’t have minded anyone knocking at 3pm. Some people don’t want to be out in the dark.

Differentstarts · 31/10/2024 17:21

I don't see people's issues with teenagers trick or treating if they wanna dress up go out in the cold and knock on my door they can have a bag of harbo just like everyone else

SilverChampagne · 31/10/2024 17:16

The shops?? That’s a bit cheeky.

That's what everyone does where I live 🤷‍♀️. Shops all decorated who participate. More cheeky knocking on strangers doors in that case.

Wellingtonspie · 31/10/2024 17:22

In Honour of this thread we weren’t going out this year but I’ve been up in the loft and dug out the box of costumes so we shall be knocking doors 👻.

May or may not give out sweets who knows 🍬

But it was the (out of area) teenagers that stopped me doing it. They were so cheeky. You offer sweets and they took 2 bags. Now I just don’t put the pumpkin in the window( local sign). The little kids were great.
