Just been away with another family consisted of mum, dad and 16 year old son.
We cooked breakfast each morning before going out for the day. (Me, dp, my 2 year old)

Im the only one who doesn’t eat meat. So I bought some hash browns, potato cakes, beans & toast . Heaven!

last day, sausages, bacon, fried bread, beans and toast for everyone. I had one potato cake left.
i was busy making coffee for everyone, put cups in front of everyone then sat down for my breakfast.

They left me a spoonful of beans, all toast was gone and my last remaining potato cake was upon the 16 year olds plate under 3 sausages, 5 rashers of bacon, 2 slices of toast and a pile of beans.

One spoonful of fucking beans. No bread left for toast.

So! WWYD?

@ForDogsSake your clearly not vegetarian!

no way would I touch it after it's been sitting with meat piled on it!!

You can still take it.

"It's mine. If I can't eat it, neither can anyone else."

She could have given it to her husband or her toddler in revenge.

Or just tipped the selfish little shit's entire plate onto his lap.

Smartiepants79 · 25/10/2024 18:30

Unbelievably fucking rude.
And unkind.
Where was your DP in all this? Watching them eat it all. How much did your DP have to eat???
And 3 sausage and 5 bacons is enough even for the hungriest teen. It’s not like it’s the only meal he’s getting that day.

Chillilounger · 25/10/2024 18:30

I would have taken myself out for a large ( and long) veggie fry up and left them to clean and pack up, and messaged DH to pick me up en route home.

Whyherewego · 25/10/2024 18:31

Quite right OP. What a selfish git ! I can't believe he didn't apologise after you said that !

Brefugee · 25/10/2024 18:31

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 25/10/2024 18:25

I'd have taken it off his plate even if you refused to eat it because it had touched the meat.

Your sulking won't have penetrated their thick heads at all.

yep, I'd have been at it with my fork right away. And I'd have been spooning his beans up too.

What was your DH doing? watching them eat all the food?

ginasevern · 25/10/2024 18:31

I would've been incredibly angry OP. Not only is it selfish but, more's to the point, it's incredibly unkind. Why did the parents think this was OK. I would absolutely not have let my son do this. I really wouldn't want people like this in my life.

Pineapplesandthegovernmentandpunkrock · 25/10/2024 18:32

I'm guessing this is OP's parents and a younger sibling, so her DP possibly felt he couldn't say anything?

After reading your update, this would've been the best thing to do. YANBU at all btw

I'd have had the toast and the potato cake off his plate in a flash. then mashed it up a bit and put it in the bin.

Having said that: none of my friends would let their son act like that, and my DH would never have sat by like a limp rag doing fuck all.

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 25/10/2024 18:35

My cherished potato cake was on the communal plate with the hash browns and toast. He had cooked it all, stuck all the meat in a large bowl, the other stuff on another large plate for ease.

Fucking dp could have put it on my fecking plate with a slice of toast and a hash brown but was dealing with toddler. Didn’t expect that they would take it all.

He ended up with a sausage slice of bacon & shared a slice of toast with our little one. Little one had beans and a bit of sausage.

@AutumnLeaves24

maybe she could have just done this out of principle though, even though she wasn’t intending on eating it due to it having touched the meat.

ah, I was posting from an adults point of view, not a 10 year olds.

LostTheMarble · 25/10/2024 18:37

That was rude and unkind op.

Unfortunately this is AIBU, where most women seem to have ‘ravenous’ teen boys who ‘wolf’ down anything edible in sight, all under the loving gaze of their mothers who live off half an organic baked bean every day because anything else is gluttonous for a lady. My eldest will sometimes nab my treats (and he’s never denied his own!), he gets a telling off for it!

Brefugee · 25/10/2024 18:37

so are you related to these other people, OP?I am petty and vindictive, i would NEVER EVER let this go. Ever.

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 25/10/2024 18:38

Dp cooked it all then sat down to feed our little one who was hungry while I made the coffees.

Oooooh with a response like that I think I'd have tipped the whole lot over his head, and done the same with his parents breakfasts too!

@Brefugee

what are all you 10 year olds doing posting on here, don't you have more age appropriate things to be doing?

Gymnopedie · 25/10/2024 18:40

Don't go away with them ever again. Or if you must (family expectations?) do not cook a communal breakfast. Let them sort themselves out.

Dutchesss · 25/10/2024 18:40

I'm annoyed on your behalf. How greedy.

I know! Some of these responses 🤦‍♀️ no sane adult would be tipping food over peoples head, mashing food up ect 🤦‍♀️

What a crap way to have to exist. I have never been in this situation. Courtesy and thoughtfulness surely exist between friends of not wider society.

As someone who cannot eat gluten 😂😂😂😂

Literally left starving in a HOSPITAL for days because you need to order gluten free food the "night before" four days of ordering the night before they forget every single day and every morning for breakfast told me to go get my toast and wheatabix for breakfast and denied knowing every day they whined I wasn't producing breastmilk I said food helps? The complaint outcome said "lessons will be learned" it won't happen again four years later same hospital same fuckery no food I left took my fat pregnant ass to another hospital to deliver they managed to feed me

Never expect things like that. Keep your food to yourself. Lesson learnt.

ILoveToCleanSaidNooneEver · 25/10/2024 18:42

@AutumnLeaves24 some people, myself included, are not bothered by cross contamination as such. I don't eat meat from an ethical POV and therefore would never buy meat. I did love the taste of meat though, and so if I was eating something that had been touched by meat, I wouldn't give a shit. Obviously if it was covered in blood then that would be different, but that was the same when I ate meat.

Oh yes. Always bring in food at hospitals!

Differentstarts · 25/10/2024 18:43

This is where just eat comes in and I wouldn't offer to order anyone anything then I'd eat it right in their faces including a big stack of pancakes
