Sorry no, it doesn’t exist (sorry)

neilyoungismyhero · 22/10/2024 14:28

Agree, there's no such animal.

BrainLife · 22/10/2024 14:29

Help!

NOT an HP. Mine usually works eventually, but it's so crap and temperamental that I'm having to fight the urge to get rid and buy another Epson.

jeaux90 · 22/10/2024 14:30

I just bought a new one after having a rage with my Canon, I have a new HP one, so easy to install and use. Bought from John Lewis.

HP envy 6020e

BrainLife · 22/10/2024 14:30

Lines across the page, printer jams, failed calibrations, telling me there's no ink when there fucking is. Library printing is 50p a page. Might need to take up art.

Epson ecotank - the only printer I've owned in my almost 40 years that has reliably worked when I wanted it to every time. And I've had mine over 2 years and still haven't run out of ink despite home educating 4 kids and running a business.

Tutorpuzzle · 22/10/2024 14:34

No, they’re bastards. Although I will second the pp who mentioned epson. It’s early days in my relationship with mine, but I am very, very quietly hopeful…

Papyrophile · 22/10/2024 15:00

I second the Epson Ecotank. It works, and the ink refills are reasonably economical.

Our HP is like this too. Plus it knows if we put non hip catridges in arghhh

BadBones60 · 22/10/2024 15:04

Laser rather than ink jet. Use compatibles on both Samsung and HP without issue. Don't need colour though so works fine for me.

Imafrickinidiot · 22/10/2024 15:05

I decided i never need to print in colour so i just got a black and white one - seems to have worked because I've never had a problem with it and it's been giving me low ink warnings for months now and it's still printing fine. It's a HP. The less there is to go wrong, the better.

randomchap · 22/10/2024 15:06

I have a Canon and fucking hate it

Some bright spark decided it didn't need a button or switch to turn on and off, just a spot that you touch. It gives no feedback to indicate that it's been touched and is actually turning on and just sits there like a stupid lump of fucking plastic.
Then when you've waited for a bit and have assumed that you can't have touched it correctly and touch it again, it immediately leaps into action, turning on, then almost immediately turns off again.

OriginalUsername2 · 22/10/2024 15:07

We just got the cheapest one in Argos last week, works just fine!

Thelnebriati · 22/10/2024 15:08

I took out a loan and bought an Epson Ecotank, and when it dies I'm going to suck up the expense and do it again.

midgetastic · 22/10/2024 15:09

Brother black and white laser printer - one of the cheapest from Argos - has worked sort of for a year now if you are patient

Anything else I use the local printing firm

Zahariel · 22/10/2024 15:09

Don’t get a cheap one. I spent £600 on a colour laser printer from HP suitable for an office and it’s never ever ever ever let me down.

it’s just expensive.

Thebackofthenorthwind · 22/10/2024 15:11

Epson Ecotank.

midgetastic · 22/10/2024 15:11

Since I don't print a huge amount , At 600 it would need to last decades - it would be cheaper to use the local printers

BogRollBOGOF · 22/10/2024 15:14

My previous HP printer was spared from being lobbed out of a first floor window soley by my reluctance to sweep its shattered components off the driveway.

My Kodak can occasionally be tricked into compliance by faking a calm, leisurely disposition, but like all printers, any hint of adrenaline or cortisol and it will start arsing around.

BunfightBetty · 22/10/2024 15:15

I was going to post a thread asking the same!

But also one that doesn't insist on you changing every ink cartridge when it's only the black one that's run out and you only want to print in black and white....

Oh, and one where they don't charge for the ink like it's made out of powdered gold. A reasonable printer for a reasonable price that can be refilled at a reasonable cost.

You get what you pay for and convenience and time saving makes it well worth the money to me, but I’m me you’re you :)

You can’t have that they don’t exist. The reason a printer can be only £40 is so they make money on cartridges. If you buy a much better printer, you have separate everything g and choice of suppliers.

TheGreatMuldeeni · 22/10/2024 15:17

No, advice but I feel your pain! Every printer I've ever owned has refused to work when I've needed to print an important document urgently, only to suddenly burst into action when I'm printing a silly picture or something else unnecessary.

Anotherparkingthread · 22/10/2024 15:21

I kicked my printer to death before I threw it away and it was cathartic.
