Thank you @Thelnebriati
I think I'll go for the Eco Tank, costs more up front but much lower ink costs. Might hang on to see if there are any Black Friday offers

I just bought a new one after having a rage with my Canon, I have a new HP one, so easy to install and use. Bought from John Lewis.

HP envy 6020e

Have an HP Envy 5640 and had no problems at all with it. Amazing!

Looks like it's no longer available, but may be the current model?

I had years fighting with printers until about 7 years ago when I bought a HP Envy 7134. It never puts a foot wrong.

@OMGitsnotgood You can get compatible ink on Ebay, its not as good for photos but its fine for ordinary everyday printing. The only thing you need to know is the ink bottles have specially shaped nozzles, so keep them to reuse when they are empty.

Great advice thank you @Thelnebriati

@BrainLife I've always used Epson printers. No issues at all. Just about to switch to an Epson eco tank.

Those videos are hilarious. Honestly, there is just nothing more enraging than bloody home printers. I so identify with the cat and the blue-faced woman.😂

Fucking fuckers.

I have thrown many an Epson printer so i went with the HP Envy. Printing works 75% of the time, copying 100% but scanning (which is the main reason why I bought it) stopped working after a year due to an update error. I can find the update, I can download the update, I can start the update but then the updater programme and the actual update disappear into the ether never to be seen again and I still can't scan. It used to work so beautifully and I was so happy 😩

Have you tried Googling with your printer model and error, there are often solutions on YouTube.

AutumnFroglets · 23/10/2024 22:47

No, mainly because when I try to scan i get a download popup from HP. It downloads fine but when I try to install it everything vanishes. I'm doing it the long way now - use the camera on my phone, then download that picture onto my laptop. I suppose I should try googling it but...efffortt!

I have had endless annoyances with printers. I have finally given in to my DC's advice and bought a colour laser printer. The initial outlay is more but long term the laser one is better i.e. more likely to work. My one DC bought one 10 years ago and it still works.
