Just realised I got my own results wrong. Apparently working out how old I was when I conceived was too difficult!
So it's right 50% of the time for me.

Incidentally, IIRC, the "ring test" was also right 50% of the time. As was my Grandmother's prediction.

Soapy23 · 22/10/2024 17:20

Only right for 1 of my 3 kids

Reserved101 · 22/10/2024 17:21

Has anyone tried using a lawnmower to predict sex?

Surely Bagpuss is trolling...

I think it's the other way round. People are opening up new debates all around me!

I don't think it's deliberate though to confuse people or to try to wind me up. I get that this is a confusing and counterintuitive topic.

We probably might as well leave it for a bit as it's off topic and derailing what was a fun thread for people. I didn't mean that, but I was invited to explain my original comment so I have been (trying to).

Maybe I'll try again when I'm not so frazzled after work and feeling fresher to start from the start with it.

Has anyone tried using a lawnmower to predict sex?

I know the answer to this:

There once was a man called Vaughan, who tried to mow the lawn
One day he went crackers and cut off his knackers
Now everyone calls him Dawn!

I thank you! :)

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 22/10/2024 17:27

So it's tossing a coin then?
It's a physical object rather than a pretend lawnmower but it's pure chance just like this bollocks 'tool'?

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 22/10/2024 17:30

I had my knitting patterns spreadsheet open so I went through the thread trying to add up the wrongs and rights.

It's approx 61 right guesses and 109 wring ones.
There's a poster that said she got 20 correct but I didn't know if she was joking or not. If she meant it then that adds another 20 to the right section making it an 81/109

Which is pretty much within what you'd get tossing a coin 190 times

Wrong for all 3 of mine.

CurlewKate · 22/10/2024 19:02

I understand randomness. It took me quite a long time, but I do understand it. I don't understand the statement that a tool, even a tool that predicts randomly is better than just guessing. Please can someone explain? 🙏🙏

ChannelLightVessel · 22/10/2024 19:52

Ooh, it’s uncanny, it predicted a boy. I have DD(15) - but my two cats are male.

Krampers · 22/10/2024 20:05

I mean there is a 50% success rate.
it is lighthearted… not meant to be taken seriously but a bit of fun.

89redballoons · 22/10/2024 20:23

For me it's right for DC1, wrong for DC2, so a 50% hit rate which is what you'd expect.

HashBrownandBeans · 22/10/2024 20:30

This was correct for all three of my pregnancies

Bellatrixpure · 24/10/2024 22:21

Didn’t work for any of my children
