Sick of comments about looking angry/are you okay? Because of my 11s lines

Cookiecrumblepie · 18/10/2024 20:55

I have 11's lines. My face has fallen a bit. Whatever. I am CONSTANTLY asked whether I am angry, what's wrong, why so frowny by men and women! What's on her mind? Is she okay? WTF! AIBU or is this ridiculous. Does nobody understand that some people have lines between their eyebrows?

I got mine botoxed, I hated catching myself scowling away when I wasn't even unhappy!

Totally personal choice though!

LizFromMotherland · 18/10/2024 20:58

If they think they've upset you or made you angry, it's natural to ask.

Especially if they don't really know you, which I assume they don't or they're realise you look that way all the time.

Doggymummar · 18/10/2024 20:59

Have you thought of getting them filled? Having my face done tomorrow, not had fillers since pre COVID. What would you recommend?

Cheeesus · 18/10/2024 20:59

Are you actually frowning as well, maybe? I have a single frown line which I think looks more angry, but no one has ever commented.

StormingNorman · 18/10/2024 21:01

It’s natural human response to pick up on expressions and micro expressions. They’re not intending to be mean.

Bellatrixpure · 18/10/2024 21:01

It’s rude to frame the question that because of the way you look you must be feeling angry or upset
I’ve had a weird man wait for me outside of Tesco to tell me I looked miserable and that I should smile more. Totally inappropriate. I have RBF and when I’m thinking I don’t realise I’m doing it.

Cookiecrumblepie · 18/10/2024 21:02

No I'm not frowning! I just have lines between my brows! It probably looks a bit grumpy but it's just my face. It's just so exhausting to constantly field questions about my perceived frown. Maybe I ABU and I just need to smile more.

Me too. I don’t mind looking my age but I do mind looking permanently angry!

Cookiecrumblepie · 18/10/2024 21:04

I don't want to get botox or fillers. It makes me angry that people expect me to change my face. (Which ironically probably makes me frown haha)

OP posts:
Cookiecrumblepie · 18/10/2024 21:04

The thing is some people do look permanently angry and that is also fine. I don't mind others getting botox but it's the constant questions to those that don't.

Sorry if I'm not understanding but don't you get lines there from frowning a lot? So maybe people are just picking up on your facial expressions and jumping to assumptions....

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/10/2024 21:10

I wrote a post about my Elevens in Style and Beauty the other day.

I got repeated unsolicited remarks from strangers telling me I looked miserable about 5 years ago and had Botox and later Filler

Both have stopped working I seem to have built up a resistance, but YANBU it was remarks from others that drove me to it in the first instance because it made me so self conscious.

Nothing works for me though, I'm trying Wrinkles Schminkles but finding it crap quality.

WigglyVonWaggly · 18/10/2024 21:11

Say, “I’m fine and I’m actually getting upset by the number of people who keep commenting on this.” It’s the only way for some idiots to learn to keep their mouths shut and not comment on other people’s faces.

Would you recommend it? Really thinking of goi g down the Botox road

Mine are there permanently, so I have a line regardless of whether I'm frowning or not. So it looks like I'm constantly a bit grumpy - even when I'm just expressionless

I get 'you look tired' because of my eyelids and 'are you ok' when I wear less makeup. I'm just getting older! I'm going to start explaining it in patronising detail to everyone who says it.

100 %!!! Makes me look so much more relaxed and fresher.

Never told my DH and he's never noticed 🤣

If I ever wear less or no makeup to work I guarantee someone tells me I look tired.

And i suppose I do 🤣

Tallisker · 18/10/2024 21:17

Has nobody heard of resting bitch face? 😁

Philodendron · 18/10/2024 21:20

I'm 30 and I have these lines - I refuse to have botox.

I get told I always look angry... especially on the school run. My OH jokes about it all the time... says I always look unsocial.

gillefc82 · 18/10/2024 21:28

I had a 1 rather than 11 but my biggest bugbear was a deep, prominent horizontal frown/expression line across my forehead. Just before my wedding in 2019 I decided to get botox in my forehead and the doctor recommended treating between my eyes too. I can honestly say it the best thing I’ve ever done. I feel so much more confident.

I’m a naturally expressive person so didn’t want to look frozen and I still have loads of movement in the places I want it. Plus with naturally quite saggy upper eyelids, Botox placed properly helps to give my eyebrows a bit of a lift and open up my eyes which helps me look younger and more awake/refreshed.

Since 2019 (with a brief pause during covid lockdown) I get it every 4/5 months, now in 3 areas (11s, forehead and crows feet). I pay £220 for proper Botox (there are cheaper alternative products that have the same effect but I personally am not prepared to scrimp on something that is going into my body) and think it’s worth every penny.

If you’re considering it, do your research before choosing where to go/who to do it. Not all aestheticians are created equal and the good ones will never push you into any procedures that you don’t need / aren’t comfortable with, just to make money.

Happy to answer any questions if you have any.

I think botox has become so normalised that people are surprised to see normal signs of ageing. It's a bit depressing really how many of the responses are advising you on how to change your face to get rid of this perceived 'flaw' when you've said you don't mind it, you just don't like people commenting!

Which is fair enough, as it is rude! If I was brave enough, I'd make anyone commenting feel a bit uncomfortable... "I'm fine thanks, are you commenting on my wrinkles?". But in reality I know I'd probably be all perky and make a joke of it "oh no, I just have resting bitch face!".

Yes, but they can't show the surprise on their faces 🤣
