Sick of comments about looking angry/are you okay? Because of my 11s lines

I have 11's lines. My face has fallen a bit. Whatever. I am CONSTANTLY asked whether I am angry, what's wrong, why so frowny by men and women! What's on her mind? Is she okay? WTF! AIBU or is this ridiculous. Does nobody understand that some people have lines between their eyebrows?

But of course! Women are supposed to look smiley, happy and pleasing at all times OP!

I get that it's annoying. If you were a man it'd probably just be interpreted as looking 'serious'.

I had a 1 rather than 11 but my biggest bugbear was a deep, prominent horizontal frown/expression line across my forehead. Just before my wedding in 2019 I decided to get botox in my forehead and the doctor recommended treating between my eyes too. I can honestly say it the best thing I’ve ever done. I feel so much more confident.

I’m a naturally expressive person so didn’t want to look frozen and I still have loads of movement in the places I want it. Plus with naturally quite saggy upper eyelids, Botox placed properly helps to give my eyebrows a bit of a lift and open up my eyes which helps me look younger and more awake/refreshed.

Since 2019 (with a brief pause during covid lockdown) I get it every 4/5 months, now in 3 areas (11s, forehead and crows feet). I pay £220 for proper Botox (there are cheaper alternative products that have the same effect but I personally am not prepared to scrimp on something that is going into my body) and think it’s worth every penny.

If you’re considering it, do your research before choosing where to go/who to do it. Not all aestheticians are created equal and the good ones will never push you into any procedures that you don’t need / aren’t comfortable with, just to make money.

Happy to answer any questions if you have any.

I think you look lovely in both pictures to be fair. But would love to know who you get your Botox from. You look lovely and natural in the wrinkle free photo and would to achieve the same look for myself.

@ImADeadGirlWalking Thanks, that’s lovely.

I go to this lady - she’s brilliant. https://www.instagram.com/impeccableaesthetics?igsh=MWtucGEyMG41Zm1nZQ==

She is the third person I’ve used and definitely the best. The first one was good but then the doctor who administered the Botox went to another practice and the lady who took over tried to push me to get more treatments which I wasn’t comfortable with. I then had one visit to another place but found the Botox wore off much quicker than was usual so wasn’t worth the money. I was recommended Sarah and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Hopefully you’re somewhere near Warrington and will be able to go see her!.

I wrote a post about my Elevens in Style and Beauty the other day.

I got repeated unsolicited remarks from strangers telling me I looked miserable about 5 years ago and had Botox and later Filler

Both have stopped working I seem to have built up a resistance, but YANBU it was remarks from others that drove me to it in the first instance because it made me so self conscious.

Nothing works for me though, I'm trying Wrinkles Schminkles but finding it crap quality.

How can not work? It's not something that works or doesn't work. It is a substance that fills space.

Could posters please stop recommending Botox and fillers to OP who has categorically said she doesn't want them? This isn't S and B.
YANBU. And good for you. I detest the shiny egg look.

I haven't seen much shiny head in years. People tend to only get that when they over do Botox. These days it's usually used more judiciously and that results in no shiny head

Thanks @Tourmalines very nice of you to say. I thought there was a chance the comment/question was meant as a dig but decided to answer it genuinely regardless. It’s the weekend after all! 😊

It was genuine. One has you properly smiling, one doesn't.

I don't think so.

People would just be scared to approach them, in case the man became aggressive.

They wouldn't think anger is a serious look. It's an angry look.

SandyY2K · 20/10/2024 01:59

I can't imagine approaching a complete stranger to comment on their facial expression. I'd just think they're angry/miserable and carry on with my day.

Abstractthinking · 20/10/2024 02:23

I agree with the op. It is rude. I get it as well. It is not meant in a kind "are you okay?" way. It is said by men because my face is bothering them in some way.

I would never tell my fil (the major culprit in my case) that his belly looks odd or his use of ear buds at family gatherings annoys me. However like some men, he thinks he can be rude to me about my face.

As well as 11s, I have a turned down mouth. I am really buggered.

I looked angry for years and finally took the plunge with first Botox in forehead earlier this year at almost 50 - huge difference!
i hope it continues working - be awful if the resistance sets in :(

Lavenderandbrown · 20/10/2024 03:06

No @gillefc82 you look fantastic. You could advertise the product with those before and after pics. You are very pretty in both but I would say the Botox is very effective on the few lines you have

JaneFondue · 20/10/2024 07:29

Yes, as I predicted, more suggestions for the OP to get Botox and fillers, when she has said she doesn't want them.

I am in my 50s and not getting it. And yes, I can afford it. Maybe I will set up a support group.
