To think that releasing crickets at a gay rights conference, specifically to shut them down, should be considered a homophobic hate crime? Somehow these people are crowdfunding to do it AGAIN

The optics of having to fumigate a hall after gay people used it to speak about their rights being eroded should not be lost on anyone.

This is CLERLY A HATE CRIME - yet it's being reported as trans rights activists, not anti gay hate mongers, I can't really understand why not

And my answer was that as long as you are repurposing men's facilities for this, fine. You shouldn't be taking facilities away from women for this purpose because we are already under catered for.

then why should I have to use men’s repurposed facilities? Just cos I don’t hate trans people?

This conversation is so unbelievably childish. Honestly, do better.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 18/10/2024 18:10

PiggleToes · 18/10/2024 18:08

No there are no unisex ones .

two sets of women. One trans exclusionary ; one inclusive,

So one which is for female people only, and one which is for both male and female people, i.e. a unisex space.

As I said in my previous post, if a woman and a trans woman are in the same space it is a unisex space because there are people of both sexes in it.

You don't have to. Assuming you're female you can use either the women's (female) toilets or the women's (male and female, i.e. unisex) toilets.

If you think their dignity is compromised by using the correct-sex loo, then why not just have "all gender" loos as well as women-only ones, then? What's the issue there?

I don’t want to use an “all-gender” loo. Why should I be forced to go to the toilet with men just because you are transphobic? Let’s have two sets of women, like I suggested: one for the gender police, the other for trans inclusive women.

Edited

But you are content with forcing us to go to the toilet with males.

You know perfectly well that your "solution" would drive many women from the public sphere, because many women, for many reasons, just cannot use mixed-sex loos - even ones which are labelled as single gender. So, I presume that's what you are after?

as long as you get to define your own toilet. Is it ok if the rest of us women (and trans women ) define ours please?

Well... gosh! How interesting is THAT!

There is one particular poster who calls me 'Helle' and who seems to monitor my posting history like this.

It seems to me like you cannot coherently answer questions, despite what I am sure you will tell us is your very high level of education, and you cannot support your claims with evidence... it is like deja vu.

It doesn’t get more the childish than calling everything you don’t agree with ‘transphobic’ and ‘you all hate trans people’ because women want to retain single sex spaces. Has anyone said anything against trans men?

You need to do better. You haven’t even addressed half of the points put to you on this thread.

What do you think the word "unisex" means?

The clue is in the word. It means for people of either sex.

A "trans inclusive women's space" is a space for people of either sex because trans women are the opposite sex to women.

One of us is certainly obtuse but it's not me.

It's getting really sinister that you're policing her.
How would you know what user names she posts under?

And: "anti-trans propaganda" ? Seriously??

If these particular male people are not 'women'

You really are tying yourself in a knot about words for no reason. Words are just that - words. when we use words to address and describe someone, we do so with respect. That’s all.

Words have established and generally understood meanings within populations. They are not 'just words'.

They are vital communication tools. And if some people change the meanings of words to mean the opposite of the words original intended meaning, it means that those people lose the ability to communicate clearly to others.

It is not respectful for a group of people to forcibly change the meaning of words that another group need for their own unique descriptions. It is not respectful for people to force others to use meaningless words just to make another person 'happy'.

So, let's see.

Women's needs in single sex spaces - dismissed if it does not centre male people
Women's language needs - dismissed if it does not centre male people
LGB people's needs - dismissed if it does not centre male people

It's absolutely fine for you to go and piss in a space dedicated for trans women plus you, as long as you're not taking any space away from women to do that. Not sure how much clearer I can be. Men already have more space than women, we shouldn't have to give up more space for the benefit of male people who believe they identify as women.

Look you can call our toilet unisex if you wish- if it makes you feel better . As long as everybody knows it’s exclusively for women and trans women and you don’t go rubbing our noses in it. Sound fair?

How would you stop male people entering this toilet that's exclusively for women and t-women?

How do you propose to keep men who don't have a pink gender identity out of it?

I mean, I really don't care as long as trans women stay out of the women's, but do you have some sort of test in mind to sort the wheat (genuine trans women) from the chaff ("cis men") and make sure the wrong kind don't enter your unisex women's loos?

Snowypeaks · 18/10/2024 18:23

How would you know if there were men in your women + males who claim to be women toilets, PiggleToes? What is the way that you tell in your everyday life?

I'm guessing the "agenda" is that she cares about women's and girls' rights?

ETA: by "anti-trans stuff" I'm assuming you mean material about women's rights, with evidence
