I have just flown from London to Perth with Qantas and I'm very disappointed because the food was rubbish and I couldn't eat it and I'm used to nicer food and a hot wash clothes to wash your hands and face with after you eaten and I thought Qantas was a good quality airline but they're not they seemed to be the lowest of the low and when it came to breakfast you only allowed one drink and I have been with other Airlines where you get a orange juice or something and then they come round and off coffee but do not allowed to have that with Qantas. I also I thought that all the cabin crew would be Australians because Qantas is an Australian airline but going out to Australia they were all English and after this I would never book with Qantas again and the only advantage from me is you fly Direct but for such a poor quality of service I don't think it's worth it just to save a few hours on the flight

I've only ever had nice hot wash cloths on Asian airlines. Singapore Airlines would be top of the list for flights to Perth. Even if you have to transfer in Singapore, I've had nothing but good experiences of flying through Changi.

One time my flight from Heathrow was delayed (no fault of the airline, I'm sure) and I ended up with only about 10 minutes to make the transfer. I was asked to move seats to be near the exit before landing, then there was a uniformed airline representative at the door of the plane to take me to my connecting flight. The plane to Perth was waiting for me and closed the doors as I boarded. What impressed me most was that my hold baggage had somehow also made the transfer. A very slick operation.

Flew with Qantas to Aus/NZ last year and I agree with you. Awful.

I am also flying to adelaide furing thos trip also with wantas. One of the conditions of qantas is that of you fly from uk with qantas and then to somewhere else in aus you are not allowed to use a different airline. Originally i wanted to go with virgin australia but the flight timesmeant getting to aus at 1 or 2am and i wanted to reach australia by lunchtime and the only airline that could accommodate was qantus so thats why i used then. I have an aus friend who ises qantus only because of the direct flight so she turns a blind eye to what is wrong with qantas for a direct 17 hour flight

She also said it's more convenient than going to Dubai or to Singapore or to Hong Kong and then collecting your suitcase and rebooking it all in for the next flights because not all airlines that you are connecting with automatically put your bags on you have to collect them

It will be interesting to find out when I fly back to the UK from Adelaide whether I will have to collect my baggage at Perth and then we book it in ready for the flight back to London or whether that able to magically transfer it themselves

I don't think that is correct. I recently flew to Perth and then took several internal flights with Virgin Aus. I suspect you mean having internal flights on the same booking?

Any way apart from the airline this is my second time in Perth and it's really quite nice so it's not all bad and its quite nice

Qantas have the absolute monopoly over here, but they are overpriced and very average at best. I’m in Perth and I would fly Singapore Airlines and Qatar any day.

Qantas doesn’t care who you fly with domestically unless you have booked from London to Adelaide on one ticket.

Any fare purchased from Europe to Australia will take your bags the whole way if you have booked on a single ticket. I have never had to collect bags mid-way unless I’ve deliberately arranged a stopover.

Years ago i flew to usa and it wasnt direct. We all had to collect our cases and book them in again

Don't fly Emirates,Etihad, Qatar etc then. No Emirates or Qatar is will be handing you your coffee.

Well that was years ago. If you're booking emirates to aus for example, Manchester to Dubai to Perth, you'll check in at Manchester and pick your bags up in Australia.

You have to collect your bag when arriving into Oz and transferring to another domestic flight. So, London to Perth, going onto Adelaide. You pick your bag up in Perth because you have to go through quarantine and immigration in Perth.

When returning to the UK your bags are checked through. So Adelaide-Perth-London you don’t need to collect your bag in Perth.

I like Qantas, but am pleased they stopped playing “I still call Australia home” as it made me cry every time I returned to the UK (Aussie, longtime UK resident)
