I have just flown from London to Perth with Qantas and I'm very disappointed because the food was rubbish and I couldn't eat it and I'm used to nicer food and a hot wash clothes to wash your hands and face with after you eaten and I thought Qantas was a good quality airline but they're not they seemed to be the lowest of the low and when it came to breakfast you only allowed one drink and I have been with other Airlines where you get a orange juice or something and then they come round and off coffee but do not allowed to have that with Qantas. I also I thought that all the cabin crew would be Australians because Qantas is an Australian airline but going out to Australia they were all English and after this I would never book with Qantas again and the only advantage from me is you fly Direct but for such a poor quality of service I don't think it's worth it just to save a few hours on the flight

😄

Aviation spelling 101:There’s no U in Qantas

Aviation spelling 102: There’s only one A in Stansted……

Oh as for the Brit Cabin Crew on that Qantas flight..Old age may have muddied the memory but I seem to remember that for a while Qantas actively recruited in the UK for Heathrow based cabin crew…..not sure if that still exists.

Edited

It was definitely still happening a few years ago, I have a friend who was made redundant by Virgin Atlantic at the start of the pandemic who got a job with Qantas out of Heathrow pretty soon after things opened up again.

Qantas does run a crew out of London. A friend (Aussie) is based here and flies for them. It makes sense given their main international route after the trans Tasman is UK-Australia via Singapore/Bangkok/Hong Kong.

Used QANTAS in early 2000's as a code share with BA. I have refused to travel to Australia since with either of them. Rubbish service

Generally if you are on one booking, luggage should be checked through to your final destination. In most countries you do have to clear customs at the first point of entry into the country.

Ah yes...I remember it well. My kids were actually shocked at how awful the cabin crew were compared to NZ (and this was business class).

Because it would show that the aussie crew are representing their own countries airline

Do you realise that around 30% of Australians are born overseas?

Source, I am Australian born overseas.

I'm also booked in to an ibis hotel which is quite downgraded to what I'm used to but the only other hotel that's decent is the Holiday Inn which costs about $200 a night. There is no room safe and the manager said they have never had roo safe. Ive never heard of a hotel room not having a safe. Also the bar closes at 8pm. Also they do provide breakfast bùt only until 9am. All ive not madè very wise decisions

Hmmmm....no roo safe, you say? Might just have to tie your kangaroo down, sport.

Years ago i flew to usa and it wasnt direct. We all had to collect our cases and book them in again

The USA is fairly unusual in doing that, because you have to clear US customs on first arriving. In most countries your luggage is tagged all the way through to your final destination, assuming you are on the same airline for all legs of the flight, or mostly if all airlines are in the same alliance. This is the norm for me as a very frequent flier on a number of airlines.

If you weren’t a fan of Qantas, there are other airlines you can use which fly indirectly.
