CF parked on my driveway!

SEMPA1234567 · 15/10/2024 14:05

CF has now been parked on my driveway for at least 3 hours! Husband home soon and won’t be able to park!

My question is what can you actually practically do about this, apart from giving them an earful if you spot them returning to their car!! 😂

A quick google says

  1. the police won’t do anything (they might if it’s stoping you getting off your drive but not if they’re preventing you accessing your drive)
  2. My areas police website says try contacting the council . The councils website clearly states they will not remove vehicles or issue parking charge notices for private drives

Also you are not allowed to block them in as this is an offence to stop them leaving and obviously you can not damage their car as this would be criminal damage.

Assuming you don’t want to break the law 😂 what are you meant to legally do if someone parks on your drive??

Has anyone successfully got any type of justice against a CF?!? Or can I now just go around being a CF never paying for parking and just using other peoples drives?!?

So what did you expect them to do , drape themselves over the bonnet ?

Well at the very least put a note on the windscreen 🤷🏼‍♀️ There were enough good suggestions.

ForBetterForWorseOrNot · 16/10/2024 18:35

Remove dust caps from tyres and if you have a tyre pressure tool, let them down a little. Not too much so they can't drive but enough to be an inconvenience

Est1990 · 16/10/2024 18:35

What a disappointing end!🙄
You are so nice next time you should valet their car too.

At least then the CF will be here on mumsnet telling about the time they parked on someone's drive and the owners even cleaned the car🤣

It stands for Cheeky Fucker, @MasterpiecesofthePuzzle.

😂Thank you

GabriellaFaith · 16/10/2024 18:47

Civil matter of trespass. So take down numberplate and find address.

If they happened to drive over a very sharp thorn or broken glass that would be a shame 🤣

Timelash · 16/10/2024 18:51

I’d have blocked them in without hesitation. And then “been out” when they ring the door bell.

FluffyBenji23 · 16/10/2024 18:56

A friend had this when living in the centre of a busy tourist town. Turns out someone had posted her drive for rent on one of the parking apps! Could it be this?

Teddybear23 · 16/10/2024 19:26

Buy one of those stumps that you insert into a hole in the ground and remove with a key. If you put one of them at the bottom of your drive and put upright every time you leave, then nobody could park on your drive.

Penguin bollards are traditional in these situations, or so I've heard.

Hellohello48 · 16/10/2024 19:30

What's a CF?

Next time soak the car and put leaves all over it

YerArseInParsley · 16/10/2024 19:56

What foes CF mean? I thought it was c*nt friend

SinnerBoy · 16/10/2024 19:57

I like the Vaseline on the windows idea. Add glitter and make sure to do the wing mirrors, too!

Years ago someone parked a car in our space in our garden , it's not a parking space but it is our land .
I put a note in a plastic bag and taped it securely to the windscreen , they ripped it off.
Police were no help as it was on private land......yes myprivate land
It was a clapped out heap so we suspected it had been dumped . We couldn't find out who owned it but they said it registered to an address in a street near us .
As it wasn;t locked , it was gently eased out of the space and deposited on the road -not by me you understand !

Judgedontbudge · 16/10/2024 20:26

Get some lockable driveway gates, if you can.

pinkstripeycat · 16/10/2024 21:21

CameronStrike · 15/10/2024 14:09

I would 100% block them in. Who says you can't? What do you think will happen if you do?

Exactly what Cameron said.

The police aren’t going to come out to someone blocked in to a random persons driveway. They haven’t got time for that.

Thanks for being kind enough to say what it means. Need more people like u on here xx

Using abbreviations is just lazy grammar.

Ivehearditbothways · 16/10/2024 22:20

@YerArseInParsley

Does your phone not access google? You can just type in “mumsnet CF meaning.” Why ask in the middle of a thread? If I’m reading something and I don’t know what it means, I open a new tab, google it and then I can continue reading and understanding it. No time wasted. It’s like people who ask on Facebook if Tesco is open… try google.

No I don't want to have to google when trying to understand a thread.

Is everyone so darn busy they cannot use the English language correctly?
