For context: I'm 36, mum of three (youngest is 2.5), work four days a week.

Im also someone who needs a lot of sleep.

So... introductions over. I'm in bed for 8/8.30 and asleep 8.30-9 every night. I then get up at 5.30/6 with my toddler.

Aibu to ask your age and when you go to sleep?

Sleep between 12:30-1, wake up 7:15. 35 and no kids.
However, if I am absolute knackered I use my adult privilege of doing what I want and go to bed earlier. Or have 30 min nap at 8.

Liveheretoo · 13/10/2024 20:51

67 and midnight … that is my ‘me time’ and I love the peace at night

mycatsanutter · 13/10/2024 20:51
  1. Bed between 11 and 12 anywhere from half an hour to an hour to get to sleep , up at 6.45. Every single week day morning I promise myself an early night that night and I never do, but then I'm rarely tired in the day so I must be getting enough sleep .
Barleycat · 13/10/2024 20:51

51 usually asleep by 9.30. Alarm at 5.45 and I get up around 6.30

abracadabra1980 · 13/10/2024 20:52

55 and 8.30ish - could be 7ish! Live alone and may have also had a Nana nap in the afternoon. Just love my bed for its comfort and support re my chronic bad back, but I'm up and out every day x 2, whatever the weather, as my darling dogs need a good walk and tending to. We function better as a pack than when we were a solely human 'pack' 🤔

brislereg · 13/10/2024 20:52

I'm 40, I usually got to bed at about 10 and have to get up at 6 otherwise I'd be late for work- people getting at 7/7.30 seems v luxurious to me. Some night I'm knackered and might go to bed more like half 9. Occasionally On a weekend I might stay up a bit later like until 11 or 12 and sleep until 7/8 but this is a real treat!

Funkyslippers · 13/10/2024 20:52
  1. Bed around 10.15, asleep hopefully by 11. Up around 7.30am. Usually awake a couple of times in the night. Drives me mad
Changingnameagain · 13/10/2024 20:52

37 and in bed by 9.30pm and asleep by 10pm. Up at 6.40am weekdays and 7.15ish weekends (3yo and 6yo).

Mumto32022 · 13/10/2024 20:52
  1. Usually in bed for 2300-2330. However I work shifts and do nights so it can be a bit all over the place. Up for 7. I tend to fall asleep fairly quickly but do have a disturbed sleep. I am one of those people that could sleep 12 hours and still be tired.
Oblomov24 · 13/10/2024 20:53

This thread is odd. The normal time for most adults should be approx 10pm. 8 hours is the optimum so 11pm - 7am is reasonable.

I myself often go early, pre 9pm, sometimes 8pm if very tired, but I am diabetic and have always needed a lot of sleep. But this is not the norm, and the difference is I know that.

TheBirdintheCave · 13/10/2024 20:53

I'm 38 with two kids (one nearly four and a five month old). Husband and I go upstairs at 10:30pm but won't be sleeping until midnight as we like to read to wind down first.

Torememberwhenlifewasbetter · 13/10/2024 20:54

46-around midnight-12.30, im
exhausted but have a 6 year old and need this time on my own

WonderingWanda · 13/10/2024 20:54

45...between 10 and midnight depending on how much work I have to do. Get up at 6.30 but often wake between 3 and 4 and have fitful sleep till the alarm goes off. Wish I could sleep better.

CherryBlossom321 · 13/10/2024 20:54

I’m 40 and go between 12 and 1 regardless of waking time. I hate it, but my autistic tween doesn’t sleep brilliantly. It’s improved since she was prescribed melatonin, but I still have to wait for her to fall asleep for her own safety. I hate it, I’d prefer much earlier and I’m constantly exhausted but have no choice.

Grepes · 13/10/2024 20:54

Early 40s, work full time.

Dinner at 9pm, bed at 11pm (read for a bit), alarm goes off at 5.30am (husband gets up, I doze and he brings me coffee in bed). 3yr old patters in around 7/30am (I’m sorting out what I need to sort out for the day at work). 3yr old and I snuggle in bed for a bit and chat, get ready, walk to nursery for 8am, I start work when I get back 10mins later. Work until 6pm when husband and kids get home. Play, snacks, bedtime, cook (all shared), eat at 9pm and repeat!

Weekends, we don’t really have a timetable! Just have fun and relax. I love it!

AlwaysPerplexed · 13/10/2024 20:55

69 - bed at 10, lights off 11, alarm at 8.

Of course have regular wakes at 4am - tend to get up, read and back to bed after an hour. Usually when I have had more than 2 glasses of wine. When will I learn?

ReadingInTheRain583 · 13/10/2024 20:50

36 - I am ready for, and go to bed between 9-10pm. Most nights it takes over an hour to fall asleep, sometimes 2-3. I also wake several times in the night and have a child who bed hops and likes to start the day somewhere around 5am.

I also have a husband who literally closes his eyes, instantly falls asleep, sleeps soundly all night and then wakes up telling me how tired he is 🙄

Edited

Oh god I have one of those. It must be in the genes as my OHs family were all fantastic sleepers. I don't think my OH would ever say he's tired through lack of sleep as it might be the last thing he ever says to me 🤣

Same age as you, bedtime same too!

Moveoverdarlin · 13/10/2024 20:55

Age 44, about midnight.

EmeraldDreams73 · 13/10/2024 20:55

51, an early night for me is before 11 but much more usual is midnight or later. Alarm at 6.45 most days.

afrikat · 13/10/2024 20:56

43 and usually between 10 and 11. Alarm set between 7 and 8 depending on if I am WFH or not. Weekend is probably midnight, wake up between 9 and 10

LolleePop · 13/10/2024 20:56

I'm 48.
2 young kids.
I'm in bed now.
Actually this is late for me. I'm usually sound asleep by 8:30 but I've got a few things on my mind so I'm on mumsnet to help me zone out.
I'm literally about to shut down phone and sleep now as this feels really late for me to still be awake.
I'm up at 6.
I need minimum 9 hours sleep or I feel ill.

herewen · 13/10/2024 20:56
