For context: I'm 36, mum of three (youngest is 2.5), work four days a week.

Im also someone who needs a lot of sleep.

So... introductions over. I'm in bed for 8/8.30 and asleep 8.30-9 every night. I then get up at 5.30/6 with my toddler.

Aibu to ask your age and when you go to sleep?

  1. I like to get in bed after tea ( about 7) watch telly . Read until midnight ...then hopefully fall asleep. I have a lot of pain insomnia..so don't have a set pattern at all.
MyStylish40s · 13/10/2024 20:43

I go to bed between 9pm - 10.30pm, but usually stay awake until 11ish, reading or on my phone

I usually wake at 6 because that’s when dh gets up, but I don’t get up until 7

Havalona · 13/10/2024 20:43

67 retired, never nap during the day. Bed before 10 usually, BUT there follows a few hours of YouTube rabbit holing, and FB videos of cops arresting drunk drivers in the US (body cam). Lights out at midnight if not before then the podcast goes on. Honestly I don't think I've gotten to the end of any episode ever before zzzz!

Wake about 8 but unless I have something on in the morning get up about 9.30 -10am. Later if it's cold, wet, snowing. Great life, but I did the 6am starts in my day too.

Packingboxesneeded · 13/10/2024 20:43

I’m 70. Usually bed 11.30pm-12. Even going to bed exhausted it can take an hour or more to sleep. I wake a couple of times overnight and fully awake by 6.30am. I’ve tried occasionally to go to bed at 10pm but I’m usually awake then by midnight.

Lifeofthepartay · 13/10/2024 20:44

41, normally go to sleep between 11 and 11:45 and wake up between 7-7:30 am naturally without the need for an alarm.

minisomum · 13/10/2024 20:44

46 I'm in bed at 10, lights out at 10:30. I wake up between 6 and 7 am.

Nursingadvice · 13/10/2024 20:44
  1. Bed between 10:30-11pm. Scroll on phone for too long. Asleep by 11:30/12am. alarm at 7am.

I couldn’t go to bed much earlier as my youngest is 12 and usually doesn’t go to bed until around half 9 now. I can’t go to bed and leave him up or he’d be up all night.

decorativecushions · 13/10/2024 20:45

I go to bed once my 4 month old baby has fed to sleep. Could be anytime between 8pm and midnight.

Up a few times in the night for up to 90 mins each time.

Up for the day between half 5 and half 7.

I'm 23.

Catisa · 13/10/2024 20:46

37, I go to bed at 21.30. I've got two kids. 3 year old and a 4 month old. The baby wakes me up twice during the night and the toddler once when he comes to my bed the middle of the night. So even if I go early to bed I don't sleep that much. We are all up in the morning at around 6.30

SemmaLina · 13/10/2024 20:46

64 , retired and no DC at home
Go to bed about 10-30 pm , set the alarm a couple of times for 7am Bootcamp , but usually wake up naturally

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 13/10/2024 20:42

Can't believe how early some people go to bed! 8 or 8.30 is a child's bedtime in my opinion. Even when my children were small I went to sleep at 11 and got up about 7, otherwise I had no evening to myself. I'm 60 and retired, if I haven't got to do anything early the next day I now go to sleep about 1.30, get up 9.30, obviously adjust if necessary.

Your 11 and 7 is my 9:30 and 5:30. Evenings are sacrificed Mon-Weds during the week to allow me to get up/get to work on time. I do four ten hour days + commute.

Pebbles16 · 13/10/2024 20:47

Mid 50s, bed between 10.30/11, get up 5.30/6 although the current darkness makes this HARD WORK.
Today though I woke up at 5, read for a bit, fell back to sleep and woke up at 8 - a Sunday treat!

Mumofyellows · 13/10/2024 20:47

42 and 9-9.30, up between 5.30-5.45 each day. I do read my book in bed for a bit and don't go straight to sleep.

ilovepixie · 13/10/2024 20:47
  1. Normally about 11, I start work normally at 8.
Growlybear83 · 13/10/2024 20:47

I'm 66 and I aim to be in bed for 1 am and to be asleep by 2. I usually wake up at about 8 nowadays.

HelloDaisy · 13/10/2024 20:47

56.. I go to bed about 10 and then read for a while before going to sleep. I wake up about 6.30-7.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 13/10/2024 20:48

Honestly if I get up much before seven I feel weird like when you've done a night shift and it throws everything off

mummaloo2 · 13/10/2024 20:48

36 and my latest night would be 11pm and I start panicking it's far too late 😂 my earliest nights I'm asleep for 8 but I do always tend to get in bed for 8 and either watch tv, read or browse on my phone until I feel ready to sleep.

Midnightstar76 · 13/10/2024 20:49

48 and 8.00

IMustDoMoreExercise · 13/10/2024 20:49

58 bed at 10.15 and lights out 10.50

Whatanidiot123 · 13/10/2024 20:50

I am 44 and usually go to bed around 10.30 with the aim of being asleep by 11pm. Kids are 3 and 6 and although I’m usually exhausted, I need some down time. I do put my PJs on at 7pm though, and on the odd night I pass out in a child’s bed at 8ish. Usually woken up twice a night - littlest heads to our bed and then eldest calls out for company. Perpetually tired.

ReadingInTheRain583 · 13/10/2024 20:50

36 - I am ready for, and go to bed between 9-10pm. Most nights it takes over an hour to fall asleep, sometimes 2-3. I also wake several times in the night and have a child who bed hops and likes to start the day somewhere around 5am.

I also have a husband who literally closes his eyes, instantly falls asleep, sleeps soundly all night and then wakes up telling me how tired he is 🙄
