For context: I'm 36, mum of three (youngest is 2.5), work four days a week.

Im also someone who needs a lot of sleep.

So... introductions over. I'm in bed for 8/8.30 and asleep 8.30-9 every night. I then get up at 5.30/6 with my toddler.

Aibu to ask your age and when you go to sleep?

31 in bed by 1030, then doom scroll on Instagram until 1130, then up whenever either the baby or toddler gets me up at 630/7. I think when back to work I'll aim to be asleep by 1030

Opentooffers · 13/10/2024 21:05

What's the problem? You are getting plenty of sleep every night by the sounds of it. Do you stay up later on the weekend? I can see how going to bed so early could affect your relationship as you'd never get time just the two of you.
Lol, if your partner is thinking you should survive on less, is he talking from experience of doing as much as you, or does he not pull his weight.

helpme1234 · 13/10/2024 20:34

33 bed about 19:30
Sleep 20:00

Whatt?!?? Why?! That's earlier than my 7 year old.

I'm 39 I go to bed at 11pm and asleep by midnight.

Weverunoutofteabags · 13/10/2024 21:06

I can give an overly complicated answer to this.

When I'm on a day shift, I go to bed at 2130
When I'm on a night shift I go to bed at 0930
When I'm off work, I go to bed at 00:30/01:00

For context I have two children, aged 3 & 6 years, I'm 29 and I'm permanently exhausted.

Nomorewine123 · 13/10/2024 21:06

48 I generally on week days am in bed by 9pm, read for a bit asleep by 10 but alarm set for 5 for the gym. Weekends I might go later and have a lie in until 7/8 ish. My watch tells me I average 7 and half hours a night over the last year so sounds about right.

Zanatdy · 13/10/2024 21:06

I’m 47, 48 in 2 months, and I am always in bed before 9, asleep 10.10.30 latest. I always wake up before 5.30am when my alarm goes off. Usually up for the day by 4.30-5. When my kids were little I longed for the days I could lay in on weekends / days off, yet here I am, unable to sleep in later than 5am! Madness

HildaHosmede · 13/10/2024 21:07

Bed between 1 and 2am usually. Up at 7am.

I just can't bring myself to go earlier. It's my time and I need it. Crap on TV, mn, doom scrolling, reading.

Occasionally it catches up on me and I have a couple of earlier nights in a row...then back to normal.

Xanadu58 · 13/10/2024 21:08

56 and I'm in bed around 9pm

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 13/10/2024 21:08

Not sure what age has to do with this, as I've been going to bed around 10pm for the last forty years! Some nights I'm tired and fall asleep quickly, other nights I'm not so tired so I'll watch television until 11:30ish.

Upsidedownagain · 13/10/2024 21:09
  1. All my life I've aimed to be in bed by 11.00, barring special nights out. At 18 I got up at 7.50, most of my work life around 6.15 to 6.30. Yes, I often feel tired, duh! Thing is I hate mornings, love evenings.

Recently I've been going to bed at 10.00 (on a work night, anyway) in the hope of being asleep by 10.30. Can't say I feel any different so far, but will keep it up. And I never just stay up till 1am, 2am just because, like I used to.

TriangleSquareFringe · 13/10/2024 21:09

41, in bed by 9pm but I'm my own worst enemy and scroll or listen to podcasts for ages. Sleep ranges from 11pm-12.30am, sometimes 10.30pm.
Alarm 7am. Terrible for hitting snooze. Wake up during night at least once, every bloody night.

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 13/10/2024 21:09

41, Go up to bed at 10, go to sleep around 11:30 and get up just before 7. But my child is 18 and I work from home, so my morning routine is a breeze. Just me and the cats to sort

EvilNextDoor · 13/10/2024 21:09

40’s and pre/menopausal (just starting HRT so hoping things improve)

Anytime between 9pm and 10.30pm if I stay up any later than that I am a zombie the next day, and it takes me a few days to recover.

I am up between 6am and 6.30am the dog doesn’t let me have a lie in

I also have some health issues which make me very very shattered & when I am in a flare I need more sleep so can go to bed much earlier around 7 and try to sleep

Diversion · 13/10/2024 21:09

57 in bed by 10.15 and up at 5.45 on weekdays. Whether or not I sleep is another matter.

JPduck · 13/10/2024 21:10

48
In bed 9 ish and can be asleep by half past.
Alarm 6.15 to get dd up

BigDahliaFan · 13/10/2024 21:10

Can't remember the last time I had a proper night's sleep . 56,menopausal,

go to sleep 10 to 10.30, awake about 2 for an hour or so...up at 6 am 3 days a week for the gym.

PadstowGirl · 13/10/2024 21:10

56, bed at midnight, up at 6:30am

Didimum · 13/10/2024 21:10

I’m 39. Two kids age 6. 10:30-11pm and up at 6:30-7.

GiddyRobin · 13/10/2024 21:10

I'm 33 and have never needed/been able to get much sleep. I'd say I'm a night owl but I'm also awake at the crack of dawn. Some nights it'll be 1 or 2am or later. Some nights I might have an early one but then wake up and be awake for a few hours. I've just never liked sleep!

Zanatdy · 13/10/2024 21:11

A lot, as menopause or pain from ailments can affect sleep.

Debrathom · 13/10/2024 21:11
  1. The time I go to bed depends on the season. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and once it gets dark it is very, very quiet so I go to bed a lot earlier in winter (anywhere between 9 and 11) but later in summer when my animals won't want locking up till about 10. Always wake up between 5 and 6am.
WeGoSlow · 13/10/2024 21:11

Mid 50's. I start getting ready for bed at 9.30pm to make sure I'm in bed at 10pm. I usually fall asleep within 10/15 minutes. My alarm wakes me up at 6am so I can walk my dog for an hour before work.

Driedonion · 13/10/2024 21:11

55
On a work day in bed by about 10:30pm, light off around 11, alarm goes off at 6:50am.

MrsSunshine2b · 13/10/2024 21:12

I am 35, not a morning person. DD goes to sleep at 9pm, gets up at 7:30ish. I go to bed around midnight. DH does most "morning" stuff, I sometimes get up at 8am and do her hair before school, sometimes I sleep in and get up around 9:30ish. I WFH, flexible hours.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 13/10/2024 21:13

56 and 60 and bed around 21:30 sleep around 22:00 then Alarm at 05:30 and 06:30 depending on in office or wfh
