Today I got some powder for my lady parts and it has transformed how I feel.... I actually can't believe it! I have been suffering a sweaty, chaffing, post-baby, peri-menopausal, swollen mess of a down below, and wow... It has just transformed how I feel! Anyone else??!! Why isn't this talked about!!!

OP posts:

I’ve had a horrendous summer with sweating and chafing. Doctors kept saying nothing wrong, gave me moisturisers and said keep area moist but they made it worse and it hurt to walk for weeks.
Instead I’ve been keeping the area really dry and switched to cooling sweat wicking pants as cotton actually doesn’t dry very quickly (you rarely see sportswear made from cotton). I’ve never been so glad winter is coming!

@CableCar Is the powder scented? Does it have any helpful ingredients other than corn starch? I’ve been using a corn starch powder and I can walk again without pain but would switch to Femfresh if it’s got other benefits (as long as it’s not scented)

I used to love putting a bit of baby talc down there, still do sometimes if at a festival. If ok for baby, surely ok for adults? Smells lovely, soaks up sweat, makes you feel a bit cleaner when no other options available.

mathanxiety · 13/10/2024 20:03

If it's actual talc it's not ok for babies or adults.

What happens when the cornstarch gets damp? Does it form an appealing paste that leads to your 'lady parts' becoming superglued together? Sounds like a bloody dreadful idea to me.

Was wondering same (not cos I wish to try it mind) - just curious.......

Newbie999 · 13/10/2024 20:08

I would not put anything on my lady parts! Who knows what ingredients are there in the products.

Why do people feel the need to share this with millions 😂

Why read it if you prefer not to talk about these things? No like the subject line was obscure

Mum2jenny · 13/10/2024 21:09

Just wash all body parts with normal body wash. I’ve never had any problems with this approach. Obviously don’t wash any internals though!

Game0fCrones · 13/10/2024 21:13

"my hormones have really been playing me up in my intimate area of late and it's been frustrating... The fem fresh powder has raving reviews for how comfortable it makes you feel!!"

There's something about OP's posts that's giving me a weird feeling. I can almost hear the words said in a David Walliams 'lady' voice.

FeetLikeFlippers · 13/10/2024 22:00

I went into premature menopause age 50 and, 15 years on, I still wake up some nights with an uncomfortably sweaty crotch and I find that dusting with a bit of powder helps no end. The people saying that showering twice a day is sufficient have clearly never woken up after night sweats, had a shower and gone back to bed only to be drenched in sweat again 10 minutes later. Anyone who thinks this is TMI doesn’t have to read these posts (your heading made it pretty clear what it’s about!) and if we can’t talk about this stuff anonymously on MN then there’s no hope for us! In fact, it’s frankly weird to click on a post with a heading like yours and then complain about its contents!

Wallawallakoala · 13/10/2024 22:04

You go for it I’m glad it’s made you feel better! There’s nothing wrong is that and it’s important to feel comfortable.

But, but, doesn’t cornflour and moisture = goo?

I mean they don’t use it to thicken gravy for nothing?

😂😂

…errrr because it might help someone !!!!

The “talc causes cancer” argument was alluding to a baby-powder/talc manufacturer that mined “talc” in an area that was contaminated with asbestos. Cornstarch powder is “safe” according to tests done by the safety boards in several countries. I have used cornstarch powders on my body for years! No problem. You can of course do your own research so “arm-chair” experts don’t slew the truth.

Mamabearsmile · 13/10/2024 23:56

For me decidedly inconclusive means not enough evidence, important to know the legal challenges to j and j are not about disease processes but about the fact they've known about asbestos contamination being a possibility. You have to remember that America is a very mitigations country. I just saw it as a discussion. No offence intended. Sometimes people, including me, respond to what they think people mean, and on a re read realise that wasn't the case. Anyhow, no offence intended toward anyone from me. Happy Sunday to you, just happy Monday Shortly.

Mamabearsmile · 14/10/2024 00:04

I don't mind what any one calls them unless it's foul, so long as the meaning is clear.

Mamabearsmile · 14/10/2024 00:25

See the research. It is currently inconclusive and more research is called for apparently. I don't use talc just read about this on here.

Mamabearsmile · 14/10/2024 00:30

Talc is dodgy. Use a preparation with corn flour.

BenditlikeBridget · 14/10/2024 00:44

Nat6999 · 13/10/2024 00:07

Try the Cuticura medicated talc, it's a million times better than baby powder.

Oh my god, does this still exist? My Nan used to use it, I loved the smell of it 😂

echt · 14/10/2024 01:55

Another day, another thread about an MNer's genitals. Hmm

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 14/10/2024 03:19

I heard a programme about this on radio 4 earlier this year. Talc in that area is definitely still terrible for you. It can contain aluminium and all sorts. For those who suffer from dryness, it's lot solving it but maybe causing it.

According to the programme, some manufacturers are aware of its reputation, too. Just avoid.

Foreveronthemove · 14/10/2024 03:35

Why would you want to do this? The cancer caused by talc is horrendous.

3hrMax · 14/10/2024 05:20

Does the 1,000th person to mention cancer get a prize or something?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 14/10/2024 06:30

They get a bottle of Talc 😂

Puffinlamb23 · 14/10/2024 07:30

Jellybean85 · 12/10/2024 21:21

Is that still true! Surely they've swapped ingredients since the 90s!

But I still doubt it's a good idea to dust it down there (thinking of thrush) Grin

Companies claim to use asbestos free talc, but in reality no such thing exists because of the way asbestos is found in talc. Same goes for make up. There was an article in the Guardian recently explaining how make up was causing incurable cancers in women due to the asbestos present in the talc used.

😂

Pretty much everything except lettuce is carcinogenic these days so I just tune it out.
